On August 25, 2023, the BRS Faculty and Staff Meeting was held in the Auditorium. We are delighted to welcome our returning members as well as new teachers joining us from all over the world.  

As we look ahead into the new school year, two things stand out as particularly important in this fast-changing situation: cultivating global talents and continuing to support teachers' professional development. 

In his remarks, Principal Wang Guangfa reaffirmed BRS's achievements over the past 27 years since its establishment and its commitment to its founding aspirations for education. He urged all teachers to fully embrace their responsibilities and become even more committed to the BRS mission, and assured all present that BRS will continue to support our teachers with the necessary resources and platforms to provide the best possible education for our students. Principal Wang also made a special introduction to Dr. Wang Xiangbo, an old friend of nearly 20 years, who will be joining the BRS family soon.

Wang Xiangbo, Ph.D. has substantial educational and leadership experience. He was the former Vice President of the College Board, U.S.; former Vice President of the American College Test; and former Chief Scientist of the Educational Testing Service  (TOEFL), U.S. 

He expressed his commitment to working with a collaborative team at BRS to prepare our students for the world’s best universities. In an inspiring presentation, he delivered clear messages on ESL and STEAM acquisition, concluding that a student-centred and project-driven integrated immersion approach is one of the most efficient and comprehensive ways to do this. 

We are confident that Dr. Wang's 40 years of experience in international education will be an important part of the school's development plan.

The Principal of Beijing Royal School, Mr. Heng Xiaojun, warmly welcomed all faculty and staff back to school and highlighted three specific areas that BRS should focus on in the new academic year: 1) teaching quality and curriculum development, which is our foundation; 2) BRS's goal of cultivating global talents and its Young Diplomats Program, which are our distinctive features; 3) cultivating interdisciplinary talents with at least two foreign languages, which is our innovation.

The Chief Supervisor of Beijing Royal Campus, Mr. Cen Jianjun, expressed greetings to all faculty and staff and commended all on the achievements during the last semester. 

He expressed his expectation that China will achieve the goal of becoming an education power by 2035, and that BRS has the responsibility to develop and retain global talents, which will ensure a nation’s prosperity and global competitiveness.

Talking about the future development and direction of BRS, especially our commitment to international education, Mr. Cen expressed his optimistic expectations for the future. He pointed out that we need to speed up the construction of an integrated curriculum system in the four school divisions of BRS, and hopes that BRS students will continue to be ambassadors of people-to-people exchanges between China and the world.

With the new academic year just around the corner, our teachers have been busy planning and preparing for the new school year. We look forward to welcoming our students back on campus!
