We are now just 7 weeks into our academic year at Science City and we have already seen the development and appointment of some fantastic student leaders. As SY Deputy Principal – Pastoral, Mr. Luke Walker also places great importance on building and developing student leadership. In the new academic year, he has worked with the Secondary School Leadership and Teaching Team to organise the establishment of the Secondary School Student Council.

在爱莎科学城学校中学部，尽管本学年开学还不足两个月，学校却已在不少学生身上看到了他们“闪闪发亮”的领导力潜质。作为中学副校长(主管人文心智关怀)，Luke Walker先生也十分重视学生领导力的建设与培养。新的学年，他与中学管理与教学团队一起，组织成立了学生会，下面，且听他讲述学生会成立的过程。

At the beginning of the year, Izwa Sahdi and Bill Chen were introduced to us as our school captains. These students have already shown some fantastic initiative in reaching out to our students for their feedback and ideas, and some great confidence in standing in front of large groups of students to introduce themselves.

在上学年末，我们中学部G12毕业班的Izwa Sahdi和Bill Chen两位学生，通过全学年优异的表现，在一年一度的颁奖大会中，被评选为2022-2023学年学校队长(Captains)。在过去的公开演讲中，他们都以大方自信的姿态站在公众面前，从容地表达自我，同时也积极、及时地与学生进行沟通，征集他们对于学习与校园生活各方面的意见和想法。

We have also met our new school prefects, Krista Han, Jill Wang, Eddie Wen, James Chen, Linda Yan and Sydney Chen. These prefects will take a leading role in the raising the profile of three of our school pillars: Service, Arts and Sports respectively. These school leaders were appointed at the end of the 2021-2022 academic year, and it has been wonderful to get to know them and realise the potential they have as future leaders.

同时，在颁奖大会中，Krista Han、Jill Wang、Eddie Wen、James Chen、Linda Yan和 Sydney Chen六名学生被评选为2022-2023年度学校领袖(Prefects)。他们将作为新学年学生会成员，在提高学校艺术、体育与社区服务(四大支柱中的其三)方面发挥积极作用。学校同时也非常欣慰能够看到这些学生在爱莎科学城的成长，尤其是在其未来领导力发展方面。

These students have played a pivotal role in the creation of our student council. This started with an assembly given to every student in our senior school that was focused on leadership and building a legacy through kindness. During this assembly we spoke about how a role in our school council could be pivotal in empowering our students to have an impact on their school.

这些学生在成立中学学生会期间发挥了重要作用。最初，学校召集中学高年级学生举行了一次集会，围绕领导力建设与良好校风传承，提及了学生会的创立将如何培养并发挥学生领导力，从而对整体校园建设产生积极影响。

Every student was given a chance to put their name forward if they were interested in representing their peers. One week later these students were given a chance to present themselves and their vision for the school to their classmates. Once all presentations were finished, our students had an anonymous vote, choosing just two representatives from each grade level from grade 6 through to grade 10, as well as appointing two representatives from our A-level center. We also held presentations and a vote to appoint a prefect from grade 11 to represent our 4th pillar, academics.

在学生会的评选中，每位学生均有机会申请成为年级代表，并通过一周的时间准备发言稿，向同学们介绍自己，以及阐述自己将如何帮助学校建设。发言结束后，全体学生进行了匿名投票，并在G6至G10的五个年级中各选出2名年级代表（同时文华A-Level项目也参与了学生会评选，最终选出2名学生代表），并在G11中推选了一名学术代表，代表校园中四大支柱之一的“学术”领域。

After the votes were counted, one week later our new student council members were told of their appointment and presented to the rest of our senior school in assembly. Our new student leaders showed great confidence in standing up in front of their peers to announce their appointment and outline areas where they hoped to implement change.

计票结束的一周后，成功获选的学生收到了通知，并在中学集会上充满自信地面向全体学生发表了当选致辞，介绍自己并描述了他们希望为学校做出改变的设想。

Our school council are scheduled to have their first meeting this month as a group. They will start their tenure as student leaders by discussing how they will be getting feedback from their peers, how we can make better use of our shared spaces around school and discussing how they can work with school senior leaders in whole school areas like food, marketing, and academics. In their first meeting, each of our representatives will each be given an EY and PY class that they will represent throughout the year, visiting these classes once per month to get to know our younger students and to listen to their thoughts and ideas.

目前，学生会计划召开第一次集体会议，正式开启“学生领导”的任期。他们将在未来持续地收集身边学生对校园建设的反馈，例如如何更好地利用校园中的共享空间，以及如何在餐饮、市场营销和学术方面与学校管理团队进行更高效地交流与合作等。与此同时，在第一次会议中，每位学生代表也将分配到一个幼儿园班级和一个小学班级，在未来整个学年中，他们都将每月定期访问这些班级，与幼儿园和小学的孩子们互动，听取他们的想法和意见。

We are all very excited for the future that our student leaders will help create, and how they will bring our school community closer together.

Izwa Sahdi (G12)

Dear members of the ISA Community,

亲爱的爱莎社区成员，

First of all, I would like to thank my peers, teachers, and the leadership team for electing me as the female captain of the first student council in ISA Science City. The pastoral team, assisted by my fellow captain, Bill, and I, developed the rest of the student council this past month. This student council consists of twelve representatives, two from each grade level, and four prefects that represent each of the ISA pillars. I hope that Bill and myself, as presidents of the student council will build the foundations of a platform for student agency.

首先在这里，我很感谢我的同伴、老师以及领导团队推选我成为爱莎科学城第一届学生会队长/主席。在我与同伴队长Bill的协助下，教务组在过去的一个月里通过推举、投票等行动，确定了学生会最终的成员名单。最终，除了2外队长外，学生会剩余成员由12名代表(G6至G10各2名外加A Levels项目2名)，以及4名支柱领袖(分别代表学术、艺术、体育、社区服务四大支柱)组成。我希望能与Bill一同通过努力，为学生会日后的发展打下良好的基础。

As one of our first tasks as captains, we assisted Mr.K, Mr. Walker, and Mr. Riebock with the election process for the student representatives. We were honoured to be involved in each step of the way from nomination and presentation to arranging and leading the first meeting. As of now, Bill and I have formed specialized working groups each consisting of three to four representatives to ease the process of communication.

作为队长的首要任务之一，我们协助老师完成了学生代表的选举过程。我们很荣幸地参与了从提名、介绍到安排和领导第一次会议的每一步。截至目前，Bill和我已经成立了专门的工作小组，每个小组由3到4名代表组成，以促进沟通的有效性。

Moving forward, the first established student council of ISASC will serve and lead each individual as well as the whole community towards a diverse and prosperous future together at ISA Science City with pride and honour. I promise that the student council will make an impact because each and every member is willing and capable, because one of the most difficult steps has already been taken, and because we all wish to strive for excellence.

在未来，爱莎科学城学校第一个成立的学生会将服务于整个校园社区，能够在读书期间同时帮助学校进一步迈向多元化和繁荣的未来，我为自己的行动感到骄傲和自豪。我承诺，学生会将持续产生积极影响，因为我看到每一个成员都有着乐于奉献的精神，也因为我们已经度过了最艰难的创效时期，同时每个人都秉承着追求卓越的态度前进。

I am honored and grateful for the trust of my peers, teachers, and every member of the ISA community. For allowing me such an opportunity to provide services and support for our wonderful beloved community. And you can rest assured that I, with my best effort, along with the Student Council of ISA Science City, will carry forward all spirits of this school.

我很荣幸能够成为首届学生会队长/主席，在此特别感谢我的同伴、老师以及爱莎社区每一位成员的信任，让我有机会为我们这个美好、充满爱的社区提供服务与支持。请你们放心，我将携手学生会，尽最大的努力发扬这所学校的最卓越的精神。

When I put myself forward as a part of the election held last year, I wanted my voice to be heard, but more importantly, I wanted the voices of our students to be heard. Working with Izwa, Mr.K, and Mr.Walker, we put together the Student Council at ISA Science City for the first time. Beyond Izwa and myself, the Student Council consisted of four prefects each representing one pillar of ISA, as well as twelve student representatives, two from each grade level of Secondary School (including two from our A-Level department). As presidents, me and Izwa formed and headed multiple working groups each consist of three to four representatives, to work with different sectors of the school.

去年，当我产生选举想法时，首先我希望自己的声音能够被听到，但更重要的是，我更希望全体学生能够发声。在同伴Izwa以及Kennedy和Walker两位老师的合作下，我们顺利成立了第一届爱莎科学城学生会。除了Izwa和我之外，学生会还包括四位领袖，他们分别代表爱莎科学城一大支柱，以及12位学生代表。作为主席，我和Izwa组建并领导了多个工作小组，每个小组由三到四名代表组成，与学校的不同部门合作。

The first step is always the hardest, I am proud of every current member of our student council. They are inarguably the best representation of “excellence” at ISA. I never doubt that with our mutual effort, we will shape the future for our future student leaders to come, while building the legacy of our Student Council and the legacy of ISA Science City.

第一步总是最难的，我为我们学生会的每一位现任成员感到骄傲。毋庸置疑，他们是爱莎"卓越"的最佳代表。我坚信，在共同努力下，我们将为我们未来的学生领袖开拓先锋、塑造未来，将把第一届学生发展成为未来一届又一届学生的榜样。
