Dr. Choi expressed her appreciation for the successful establishment of ASJ. They then conducted in-depth discussions on the establishment of DSE examination venues in the Chinese mainland, curriculum development, matching of educational resources, teacher training, recommendation of talents, cultural exchanges, etc..
Dr. Choi said the Hong Kong Education Bureau would maintain close communication with schools for Hong Kong and Macao students in the Chinese mainland, and pay close attention to the campus life, career paths after graduation and professional qualification of Hong Kong students in the Chinese mainland. She also mentioned that the establishment of DSE examination venues in the Chinese mainland shall follow the procedures of HKEAA.
In terms of educational resources, the Hong Kong Education Bureau would synchronize updated educational news with schools in the mainland. In terms of recommending talented people and training teachers, cooperative projects with HKEDU or other institutions and certification for teachers to work in both places were encouraged.
At present, due to the impact of the pandemic, exchanges and visits between Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland have been significantly reduced. Dr. Choi indicated that cultural exchanges and interactions between the two places were still active from the long-term perspective. Schools for Hong Kong and Macao students could actively participate in activities hosted by Hong Kong, while schools in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area could also organize relevant activities and invite Hong Kong schools to participate.
Regarding the national education, Dr. Choi mentioned that the Citizenship and Social Development of the High school Curriculum had provided 21 study Tours to the Mainland for Hong Kong students. Hong Kong schools would organize internships and other activities in the Chinese mainland for HK students during the winter/summer holidays.
Finally, Dr. Choi looked forward to more cooperation among Hong Kong schools and schools for Hong Kong and Macao students. The cooperation could help Hong Kong students understand the national conditions and enhance their cultural and national identity.
