家长咖啡之夜 Parent Coffee Nights

8周紧凑而密集的在线课程,最终以“家长咖啡之夜” 在春假假期前圆满结束。就像我们的教学一样,咖啡会谈在线上举行得---非常成功。


家长们使用线上学习的同一个数字平台,在微软的Teams听取老师详细解释教学的最新动态。班主任老师和学科老师轮流分享上一个和目前学习的单元内容,以及他们取得的成功和面对的挑战。在学生的出勤率、提交高质量功课和网课的参与度方面,我们一起讨论和反思。


在教育工作上,我们总是想起“家长是我们的合作伙伴”这句话。这正是我们的信念,当教育者和家长携手合作的时候,就是孩子们取得成功的最大机会。在会谈期间,老师们深深了解到家长在学生获得优质学习体验方面扮演着重要的角色。TWIS的家长们一直全方位参与其中,从确保孩子们按时上课、到把作业正确地上传到ManageBac、再到充当摄影师记录孩子们的工作。


线上家长咖啡之夜是向家长们解释校方教学责任的最佳机会,同时也可提升家校关系。我们相信,学校与家长沟通越多,他们就越了解我们的使命和愿景是如何在学校日常的计划和决策中实现的。衷心感谢我们的家长在大家渡过人类历史上的艰难历程时,给予我们持续的支持和鼓励。


Our eight weeks of intense online learning before the spring break culminated in a series of Parent Coffee Nights. Just like with our teaching and learning, the coffee meetings took place virtually and with huge success.


Using the same digital platform, parents logged in on Microsoft Teams to hear the comprehensive update given by teachers. Homeroom and subject teachers took turns talking about their previous and current units, as well as the successes they have encountered and the challenges they are still facing. Attendance, submission of quality work and engagement with the virtual learning were discussed and reflected on.

 

In education, we always evoke the phrase ‘parents as partners’ to emphasize our belief that children have the greatest chance of success when educators and parents work together. 


During the meetings, teachers acknowledged the important role parents play to ensure that our students continue to receive high quality learning experiences.  TWIS parents are involved all the way from making sure that children log in on time for their classes to uploading their homework in the right place on ManageBac; and acting as photographers to document the work of the children.


The virtual Parent Coffee Nights became an excellent venue for our school to show accountability but also to strengthen our two-way relationship with our parents. We believe that the more we communicate to our parents, the more they understand how our mission and vision is enacted in our everyday actions and decisions. We are truly grateful to our parents for their continued support and encouragement as we cross a difficult passage in the history of mankind.

 What Do We Learn At TWIS?

TWIS offers a concept-driven, inquiry-based international curriculum that allows students to explore a broad range of subjects and skills that will develop students' curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking to become well-rounded, independent lifelong learners. 


We also promote international-mindedness through the understanding of language development, cultural identity and global citizenship. While English is adopted as the primary medium of instruction, the maintenance and development of students' first language are recognized as important factors to facilitate multilingualism, cognitive development and intercultural awareness.
