At CBIS, we encourage our students to step out of the classroom, immerse themselves in society and nature, and deeply participate in exploration, thereby inspiring them to love exploration, love their life and the nature, cultivating their social skills, allowing them to gain knowledge through research and grow in practice.
Driven by this theme, our MYP G7 and G9 students had their field trip this week,
10 students from MYP G7 walked into our Shan Yu Lake community to test the water quality. They used the scientific knowledge and various testing tools they learned in science class to collect and test the water quality of 2 ponds and a small stream in the community. They discovered many problems and, after completing data collection, analyzing and reporting, they will provide the results and improvement suggestions to the community.
Throughout the activity, the students strictly followed the safety measures and conducted their experiments orderly according to the experimental steps. They not only improved their exploration and practice skills but also contributed to environmental protection.
This activity also verified the students' learning achievements in ATL skills. By thinking about how to apply classroom knowledge, sampling techniques, data processing, and analytical reasoning and research skills, the students further enhanced their ATL skills and level to solve practical problems. In such practice, they not only deepen their understanding and sense of responsibility for environmental protection but also bring more inspiration and achievements for their future growth and academic pursuits.
Our G9 students are currently studying the topic of operations management, focusing on the processes involved in producing and delivering goods and services. Visiting the Chaoya Toys Factory allowed them to see firsthand how these processes are applied in a real-world setting.
During the field trip, they observed the various stages of the production process, from the initial design and planning to the final production and quality control. They also had the opportunity to speak with the workers and managers at the factory, asking questions and learning about their roles and responsibilities. Students could also identify different types of jobs and the skills required which can help.
The field trip was not only educational but also a lot of fun. The students were able to participate in hands-on activities, such as safety lessons, and assembling a stuffed toy themselves. This allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of the production process and appreciate the hard work and attention to detail that goes into creating each product.
Finally we would like to express our appreciation to the factory director, Mr. Xiong Mufang, a parent of our school who is committed to helping to foster a well-rounded education for the students by using the resources in the school community.
At CBIS Bilingual School, we are committed to providing our students with a well-rounded education that goes beyond the classroom. We believe that field trips such as this one are an essential part of this commitment, allowing our students to gain practical experience and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them. We look forward to organizing more educational and fun-filled field trips for our students in the future.
