把英语文学3D化!这样的展你看过吗?


这学期高年级学生学习了英文小说集。 每个班级阅读并综合分析一部小说,着眼于人物塑造、背景和情节。 一旦每个学生都阅读并研究了小说,他们就会选择一个自己喜欢的小说场景以 3D 的形式 [立体模型] 展现出来。

此外,他们还必须总结整个故事,描述场景并举例和解释小说的主题。 这项活动不仅巩固了他们的知识,还使我们的学生能够以多种方式表达自己,而不仅仅是写作或口语。


学生用6周的时间学习阅读,从小说中阅读并汲取灵感。然后根据自己喜欢的情节制作他们的小说3D模型,并由老师最终评出20个一等奖作品。

一等奖作品学生分享(部分)

我选择的场景是《动物庄园》里的猪Old Major在生命即将逝去的前夜, 演讲和传播他的思想时的场景。它号召动物们学会反抗,争取权利,它向其他动物描绘了一个理想社会生活形态。我觉得这个场景和现实生活很像,但又是以动物视角表现出来,和谐且不违和。所以我用粘土还原了这个场景。

我的作品主要是围绕我们这学期所读的书叫Of mice and men。它是在美国经济大萧条时期所写的书 。我做的diorama是两个同时进行但不同场景,下面是主人公Lennie误杀Curleys Wife在仓场的场景, 上面是其他农场里的员工的快乐闲暇时光所玩的horseshoe的游戏。这个scene也是我最喜欢和印象深刻的。

哈罗之友端午节答谢沙龙  

 “端午安康 感谢有你”




在端午节前夕,哈罗之友社区空间内粽叶飘香,桂花和艾草的味道弥漫在空气中。家长们其乐融融的气氛感染了整个校园,包粽子、佩香囊,挂艾草,绘团扇,品香茗…… 一切有关端午的风雅习俗都在这一天被家长们深度体验。端午佳节,不只有纪念,还有感恩,家长们将自己亲手包好的粽子送给学校员工,表达他们的感谢之情。

家校足球友谊赛



良好的家校沟通关系是哈罗海口国际社区发展的基础,6月17日家校足球友谊赛就是在这种理念下开展的活动。 “家长足球队”对阵“教师足球队”。大家纷纷拿出了专业运动员般的冲劲,在学校足球场一决高下,为夏日傍晚增添激情正能量。在友好亲切的氛围中,大家一起品尝美味烧烤,从球场下来的疲惫在美食满足下一扫而空。



通过高质量的的家校互动,家长对于学校的教育方式理解得更加深刻,同时学校也为家长们搭建了一个共同成长的终身学习社区,不断和家长们共同分享孩子成才和自我教育的“秘籍”。

校园诗歌节



哈罗海口第一届诗歌节,有朗诵、有吟唱,有大气磅礴的中文诗歌集,有音律优美的英文诗歌集,有猜字谜诗歌。在诗意和有节奏的诗歌韵律里,哈罗海口小学部每一个班级都为我们带来了丰富的诗歌表演。最后,高年级部分同学带来的诗词朗诵,为诗歌节画上了句号,也让小学部的同学提前认认识了自己将来会学到的诗歌。

全校陶艺雕塑文创




灵感来自艺术家安东尼·葛姆雷,其成名之作是系列真人大小的铸铅人体雕塑,这些雕塑以自身为模型铸成的。在哈罗海口这样一个充满艺术活力的空间里,所有的社区成员都加入其中,捏造属于自己的陶艺雕塑!在艺术老师的指导下捏出头和脚并点上眼睛,最后这些雕塑都会戴上哈罗标志性的小草帽。这800个雕塑将在学校展出,成为一件由哈罗社区一起完成的骄傲作品!

英语文学3D展

Have you ever seen an exhibition that brings English literature to life in 3D?


This term Upper School students have studied a collection of English novels. Each class read and analysed a novel in a comprehensive way, focusing on characterisation, setting and plot. Once each student had read and studied the novel, they then chose a scene to recreate in 3D format (i.e. diorama).



In addition, they had to summarise the whole story, describe scenes and give examples and explain the themes of the novel. This activity not only consolidates their knowledge but also enables our students to express themselves in a variety of ways, not just in writing or speaking.

The scene I have chosen is that of Old Major, the pig from Animal Farm, as he gives a speech and spreads his ideas on the eve of his dying life. He calls on the animals to learn to rebel and fight for their rights, and he portrays an ideal social life form to the other animals. I felt that this scene resembled real life, but was presented from the animal's point of view in a harmonious and uncontradictory way. So I reproduced the scene with clay.

My work is based on the book we are reading this term called Of Mice and Men, which was written during the Great Depression in the USA. The diorama I made is two simultaneous but different scenes. Below is a scene where the main character Lennie accidentally kills Curley's wife in the barn, and above is a game of horseshoe played by the other employees on the farm during their happy leisure time. This is also my favourite and most impressive scene.

Dragon Boat Festival 

Appreciation Event



As the Dragon Boat Festival approaches, the scent of cinnamon and mugwort fills the air in the Harrow Friends community space. The parents' joyful atmosphere spread throughout the campus as they wrapped rice dumplings, wore fragrant sachets, hung mugwort, painted fans, and enjoyed refreshing tea. All the elegant customs of the Dragon Boat Festival were experienced by the parents on this day. The parents also gave their hand-wrapped rice dumplings to the school staff to express their gratitude.

Harrow Haikou Home-School 

Football Game



Good communication between home and school is fundamental to the development of the Harrow Haikou international community, and the friendly football match between home and school on 17 June was an event based on this belief. The parents' football team took on the teachers' football team in the match. Both teams played like professional athletes and ignite the summer evening with their passion by competing on the school football field. After the game, everyone enjoyed a delicious barbecue in a friendly atmosphere



Through quality home-school interaction, parents gain a deeper understanding of the school's approach to education. The school has also created a lifelong learning community for parents to grow together, sharing with them the 'secrets' of their children's success and self-education. 



School Poetry Festival



Harrow Haikou's first Poetry Festival was successfully held. The children recited and sang from a collection of atmospheric Chinese poetry, a collection of melodious English poetry and riddle poems. In the beautiful rhythm of poetry, each class of the Pre-Prep at Harrow Haikou presented an amazing poetry performance. Finally, a poetry recital presented by some Upper School students brought the festival to a close and it also gave the Pre-Prep students an early introduction to the poetry they will learn in the future.




Whole School Ceramic 

Sculpture Creation




The event was inspired by artist Antony Gormley, whose claim to fame is a series of life-size cast lead human sculptures that are anatomically correct casts of his body. In an artistically vibrant space like Harrow Haikou, all members of the community join in to create their own ceramic sculptures! With heads, feet and eyes made under the guidance of an art teacher, the sculptures will all end up wearing Harrow's iconic little straw hats. The 800 sculptures will be displayed at the school as a piece of work done by the Harrow community together!
