现代的赛艇运动与哈罗有着紧密的联系

早在1829年，两位分别就读于英国剑桥大学和

英国牛津大学的哈罗的毕业生

发起了首次现代赛艇比赛——牛津剑桥赛艇年赛

该项著名的大学赛事持续至今

赛艇也由此逐渐发展成一项竞技运动风靡全球

并成为奥林匹克项目

横琴与赛艇运动也颇有渊源

横琴天沐河不论是从水质还是环境

都是国内具备较好条件的赛艇水道

天沐河畔的赛艇公园是国内首个赛艇主题公园

以纪念中国首位赛艇运动员钟文耀而建

而哈罗珠海的横琴校区就位于赛艇公园旁

这得天独厚的条件与百年传承的历史渊源

让哈罗珠海与赛艇运动结缘

自2022年以来，哈罗珠海就与横琴天沐赛艇会合作，开设了赛艇兴趣课（Rowing CCA），吸引了不少学生参加与体验。随着赛艇运动在学校的发展，哈罗珠海计划引入更加专业的赛艇训练，并在横琴天沐赛艇会的帮助下，打造属于哈罗珠海的青少年赛艇队。

就在6月21日下午，AISL哈罗珠海与横琴天沐赛艇会共同举行哈罗珠海赛艇校队暨AISL哈罗学校赛艇集训基地发布仪式。

活动在横琴赛艇公园进行，横琴粤澳深度合作区民生事务局副局长冯方丹女士、天沐赛艇会创办人陈志鹏先生、哈罗珠海外方校长马千里博士、哈罗珠海市场与招生总监俞杨润东先生，以及家长与学生代表等出席了本次活动。仪式上，哈罗珠海赛艇队公布了包括新学年赛艇校队的组建流程、选拔标准以及训练计划。

发布仪式上，美国耶鲁大学赛艇队队长和来自香港青少年赛艇学院的运动员们也通过视频为哈罗珠海赛艇队及哈罗赛艇集训基地的成立献上了祝福，并表示期待能够在年底来到横琴，与哈罗珠海赛艇队来一场天沐河上的友好竞赛。

此次落成的哈罗赛艇集训基地不仅能够为哈罗珠海学子提供近在咫尺的赛艇训练场地与赛事机遇，同时也将为哈罗位于亚洲的10所学校提供公开的赛艇培训机会。主办方在活动上介绍了针对哈罗学校的赛艇运动中期发展规划，其中包含赛艇主题冬令营、世界名校赛艇队海外交流访学等项目，都将在未来3年逐步搭建完成。

 “哈罗珠海致力于学生的全面发展，横琴得天独厚的地域条件为哈罗学子提供丰富的教育与发展资源，赛艇就是其中之一。同时，作为哈罗大家庭的一员，位于横琴校区赛艇训练基地也能为亚洲其他的哈罗学校提供赛艇运动的机会，相信未来哈罗大家庭学校的资源共享与交流会更加丰富。”

本次活动的成功举办

不仅为学校体育项目的发展奠定了基础

也为哈罗赛艇运动在亚洲

的发展与文化传承提供了载体

作为横琴国际化教育的名片

哈罗珠海横琴校区将继续推动赛艇运动与

其他国际化项目在校园中的发展

为学生提供更多学习与发展的机会

Rowing's earliest links are with Harrow,

where two Harrovians 

from Cambridge University and

Oxford University launched 

the first modern rowing competition,

The Boat Race, in 1829,

a prestigious university event

 that continues to this day.

Rowing has since evolved into a competitive

sport that has become an Olympic event.

Hengqin also has a history with rowing.

The Tinmuk River in Hengqin is one of the

better waterways for rowing in China,

 both in terms of water quality and environment.

The Rowing Park on the banks of the river

is the first rowing theme park in China,

 built in memory of China's first

 rower Chung Mun Yew,

 and Harrow Zhuhai is located

 right next to the Rowing Park.

 This unique location and

 centuries-old historical connection

has brought Harrow Zhuhai into

 contact with rowing.

Since 2022, Harrow Zhuhai has partnered with the Hengqin TinMuk Rowing Club to offer Rowing CCA, which has attracted many students to participate and experience the sport. With the development of rowing in schools, Harrow Zhuhai plans to introduce more professional rowing training and, with the help of the Club, create a youth rowing team belonging to Harrow Zhuhai.

On the afternoon of 21 June, AISL Harrow Zhuhai and Hengqin Tinmuk Rowing Club jointly held the launch ceremony of Harrow Zhuhai Rowing Team and AISL Harrow School Rowing Training Base.

The event took place at Hengqin Rowing Park and was attended by Ms. Fong Fong Tan, the Deputy Director of the Livelihood Affairs Bureau of Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, Mr. Chen Zhipeng, Founder of Tinmuk Rowing Club, Dr Max Caruso, Head Master of Harrow Zhuhai, Mr. Constantine Yu, Head of Marketing and Admissions of Harrow Zhuhai, as well as parents and student representatives. During the ceremony, Harrow Zhuhai Rowing Team announced the formation process, selection criteria and training plan for the new academic year.

At the launch ceremony, the captain of the Yale University rowing team and athletes from the Hong Kong Rowing Youth Academy also gave their best wishes for the establishment of the Harrow Zhuhai Rowing Team and the Harrow Rowing Training Base through a video and expressed their expectation to come to Hengqin at the end of the year to have a friendly competition with the Harrow Zhuhai rowing team on the Tinmuk River.

The inauguration of the Harrow Rowing Base will not only provide Harrow’s Zhuhai students with access to rowing training and racing opportunities close to home but will also provide open rowing training opportunities for Harrow’s 10 schools in Asia. At the event, the organisers introduced the medium-term development plan for rowing for Harrow schools, which includes rowing-themed winter camps and overseas exchange visits by rowing teams from world-renowned schools, all of which will be gradually built up over the next three years.

"Harrow Zhuhai is committed to the holistic development of its students and Hengqin is uniquely placed to provide Harrow students with a wealth of educational and developmental resources, of which rowing is one. At the same time, as part of the Harrow family, the rowing training base next to the Hengqin campus can also provide rowing opportunities for other Harrow family schools in Asia, and I believe the sharing and exchange of resources between our sister schools will be even richer in the future."

The success of this event not only

 laid the foundation

 for the development of

 the school’s sports programme,

but also provided a vehicle for

 the development and

 cultural transmission of Harrow rowing in Asia.

As a calling card of 

Hengqin’s international education,

Harrow Zhuhai will continue

 to promote the development

of rowing and other international

 programmes on campus

and provide more opportunities 

for students to learn and develop.
