Grade 1

In Grade 1, students used the drawing feature on iPads to illustrate the stark contrast between a world where everyone takes care of Mother Nature and one where she is polluted and contaminated. The resulting outcomes and presentations were truly impressive.

Grade 2

Grade 2

In Grade 2, students utilised their ICT skills by using iPads to conduct research on various resources. They gathered information and presented it to the class. Additionally, they have begun working on creating their own logos or signs using iPads.

Grade 3

In Grade 3, the students continued exploring natural resources per their central idea. Working in their groups, the students utilised various resources, including online search engines, to answer their questions and direct their inquiries further. Additionally, students took ownership of their learning by using their devices to practise for the upcoming ‘Rest of the World Rocks’ timetable competition.

Grade 4

Grade 4 students have been honing their ICT skills whilst utilising their iPads to complete a range of class activities. Most importantly, they have been using them to practise their mathematics skills on Times Table Rock Stars to prepare for next week’s competition.

Art

In Art class, the students delved into the world of ICT, showcasing their creativity and environmental consciousness. From using natural elements for art in Kindergarten 3 and Grade 1 to crafting collaborative tile murals in Grade 2 and Grade 3, and even leveraging iPads to raise awareness about natural disasters in Grade 4 and Grade 5, their engagement was both innovative and impactful. 


Additionally, Grade 6 students embarked on their journey exploring the batik technique, weaving tradition with technology.

Students from Grades 1 to 6 have been learning how to type. This week, they have been introduced to the ‘home row’ keys (ASDF for the left hand; JKL for the right hand) using basic finger placement techniques. These techniques focus on speed and accuracy, helping students to develop efficient typing skills and become proficient typists.

After learning the text ‘Riddles,’ Grade 1 students became very interested in what riddles are and how they are structured. They used technology and devices to search for different kinds of riddles in their surrounding environment and later shared them with their classmates. 


Information and Communication Technology tools have become indispensable in Mandarin classes. They make lessons more engaging and stimulate students' interest in learning. This week, in particular, Grade 2 students used a literacy programme on the computer to learn new words from their textbooks. Students memorised Chinese characters through pictures and then tried to re-assemble all the different parts of the learnt characters back together. This activity was beneficial for the students since they could better understand the structure of Chinese characters.

普通话作为第一语言


一年级的学生在学习了课文“猜字谜”后,对谜语产生了极大的兴趣,他们使用身边的电子设备去搜索各种各样的谜语,并分享给同学们一起猜。

After learning new vocabulary and grammar points, Grade 5 students brainstormed and created stories using the aforementioned vocabulary and created digital presentations that were beneficial to the development of their speaking skills.

In honour of Dr. Seuss Day, celebrated annually on 2nd March, and ‘Read an E-book’ week, the Upper Primary Library Club students wandered around the library scouting for hidden QR codes, which they later scanned to reveal various audiobooks written by Dr. Seuss. 


The Grade 1 and 2 students read an extract about the author and exercised their comprehension skills to answer questions about the analysed content. Then, in pairs, students selected a famous Dr. Seuss book to read together. 


The Kindergarten 3 Library Club students enjoyed the very famous story of ‘Green Eggs and Ham.’ Students explored rhyming words and how Dr. Seuss used rhyming patterns to create exciting, fun and memorable stories.

Chinese Maths

Chinese Maths

Grade 1 students learned subtraction within 20 and focused on solving problems by using different calculating strategies. They also explored the rules and changes in subtraction by creating spreadsheets which could engage students and promote understanding of key concepts. 


Grade 6 used knowledge about percents to learn about problem-solving related to tax rates, discounts, and interest rates, and as they did so, students used the Internet to search for the latest tax rate tables and learn the latest information about interest rates and tax rates with the help of the public, and video numbers.

中文数学

P.E.

This week K3 and G1 had beginner handball in the PE lesson. In the lesson, students acquired knowledge on handball and made progress in two-handed throwing and catching.


G2 and G3 played Bumper Cars in P.E. lessons. In this activity, students were able to practice dribbling, passing and shooting skills.


G4, G5 and G6 had Flag Tag in P.E. lessons. This game allowed students to practice speed, agility and tactics.
