截至2016年7月，全国共有国际学校约739所，其中公立国际班学校224所，私立国际学校392所，外国学校123所。

As of July 2016, there had been about 739 international schools in China, including 224 public schools with international classes, 392 private international schools and 123 foreign schools.

广义的国际学校，应该从“巴基斯坦驻北京大使馆学校”说起。随着中国的改革开放，越来越多的国家同中国建交。

In the broad sense of international school, we should start with "Pakistan Embassy School in Beijing". With China's reform and opening up, an increasing number of countries have established diplomatic ties with China.

截至1989年，中国约有6所国际学校，其中5所为外国儿童，一所公立学校设有国际部。这一时期，中国教育的国际化程度并不明显。国际学校大多为外籍人士子女开办，主要是为了解决使馆工作人员子女和在经济快速发展地区工作的外籍人士子女的学习问题。

As of 1989, there had been about 6 international schools in the country, 5 of which were for foreign children and one public school had an international department. During this period, the internationalization of China's education was not obvious. Most international schools were for children of foreign nationals, mainly to solve the learning problems of the children of embassy staff and foreign nationals working in areas with rapid economic development.

改革开放中前进

Advance in reform and opening up

这是深化改革开放的十年。随着国家的进一步开放和经济的进一步发展，大量的外国公司进入中国。中国的经济发展也吸引了大量的外国工人来中国工作，促进了中国国际教育的发展。外籍员工子女数量的增加和中国高净值人士的出现，共同创造了中国国际学校发展的春天。

This is the decade of deepening reform and opening up. With the further opening-up of the country and the further development of the economy, a large number of foreign companies entered China. China's economic development also attracted a large number of foreign workers to work in China, and the development of China's international education was promoted. The growing number of children of foreign staff and the emergence of high net worth individuals in China have combined to create a spring in the development of international schools in China.
