同学们，老师们，

大家好，欢迎回到我们美丽的校园。真的不容易，好多同学们已经有五个多月没有回来了， 我们大家都经历了许多。在这VUCA时代，我们该怎么办呢？

也许，唯有建构起强大的内心世界，方能从容地面对和化解。而内心世界的建构和能量的蓄积，首要的是发现自己、找到自我，这样才能发现更大的世界，才能面对人生各种风雨的考验，坚定地知难而上，迎接挑战。

我们应该“发现”什么呢？我希望各位同学通过自己的持续学习与实践，至少“发现”下列四个方面：

一 学习是自己的责任。每个人从出生，就开始了学习的过程，即使没有父母的教育，只要生活在正常、健康的社会中，就可自主学会走路、学会说话，而且学会说话之后，碰到新奇的事情，会不停地追问“这是什么？”“那为什么？”“这怎么啦？”“那怎么办？”“……”为了让自己成为更好的自己，每个人生来就会学习，从这个意义上，可以说学习是一种与生俱来的遗传能力。

而教育则是为了让每个人学得更好而逐渐产生的，本质是支持学生学习的一种外部条件和环境。所以，每位学生必须清醒地认识到：自己是学习的主体，必须对自己的学习负责，谁也改变不了自己学习上的付出及由此生成的结果。

二 确立人生理想与目标。没有远大的理想，就没有方向；没有正确的目标，就缺乏动力。高中阶段，应该是人生确立志向的美好岁月。通过自己的思考与分析，针对自己实际和需要，确立人生理想和目标，并付诸学习以及人生路上每一阶段的行为中，努力将自己对理想与目标的孜孜追求，转化为追求自我完善和自我超越的持续内驱动力。

三 人与人之间存在差异。人，生而不同，每个人应该“发现”自己与他人之间存在的差异。反映在学习上，不仅仅表现在每个人的学习潜质具有相对优势和相对劣势方面，而且在学习不同内容时，各自都有独特的属于自己偏好的学习方式、学习时间和学习空间等，因此表现在学习结果上，也各不相同。

所以，每个人应该清醒地认识到人与人之间的这种差异，不要与他人比较，不要“他人轴”，而是要建立“自己轴”，与自己比较，“今天，是不是比昨天进步了一点点？”通过今天的努力，“明天，是不是可能比今天进步一点点？”相信每个人在持续的行为付出中，一定会通过“一点点、一点点”的改进，逐渐成为更好的自己。

四 培育自己的兴趣与特长。每位学生应该努力“发现”自己的优势，特别重视自己兴趣的培育、志趣的形成和特长的发展。一个人在社会上取得业绩、获得成功，常常发生在他的优势领域，因此，每位同学应该在学习与实践过程中，通过不断比较分析、总结反思，逐渐发现自己的优势，并投入更多的时间与精力，展开更加广泛、深入的学习，努力把这种优势培育成为自己的兴趣和志趣，成为自己的特长、专长，甚至继续深造的专业和工作的职业。也许这样，你为此会拥有更加美好灿烂的人生。

怎样才能更好地“发现”自己呢？今天，我想与大家讨论4点：

（1）在参与中选择。参与是走向成功的第一步，知始行，没有参与，就不可能有任何成功的可能。我们应该积极参与学校各类课程学习、各项活动实践中，在学习中体验、在实践中感悟；在体验与感悟中，通过不断的比较分析，发现自己，“看见”自己，逐渐做出自己的选择。“选择形成责任”：一方面，选择是每个人成长与发展过程中不可或缺的能力，我们应该努力建构自己选择的价值判断标准，培养理性选择的能力；另一方面，每个人要学会对自己的选择负责，“你会因自己正确的选择，取得进步与成功”“你也要对自己错误的选择，承担可能失败的风险”。

（2）在信念中践行。每个人的人生不可能一帆风顺，“不经历风雨，哪能见彩虹？”每个人的选择，很可能会经历一次又一次的挫折与失败，这时候，就需要坚韧的意志来守护自己为之奋斗的选择，需要对信念的坚守，一路向前。“自信是走向成功的坚石”，没有人能够轻轻松松取得成功，失败者可能只是经历了一次失败，再也没有站起来，而成功者很可能经历了无数次失败的考验，只是面对这些失败一次次走出来，最后终于站起来了。

所以，我们一定要有必胜的信念，相信自己，并努力将自己对于理想与信念的追求，付诸于行动。同时，我必须告诉每位同学：只要过程美好了，其实结果即使未能如你所愿，当你回望过去、追忆人生的时候，你仍然可以告慰自己：拥有了无悔无憾的人生，因为曾经持续不懈的努力过，奋斗过。

（3）在反思中改进。每个人的理想与目标，在自己的学习与工作过程中，并不是一成不变。而这种改变，只要是理性选择的结果，其实都是自己对理想信念另一种方式的坚守，这更需要一个人的智慧，更加需要“发现”自己。

在社会中，机会总是存在的，而且总是为有准备的人而出现。社会处在运动中，每个人可能时时面对着许许多多的机会，关键在于自己是否具备通过对自己的过去与现实、兴趣与特长等方面总结与反思，发现新的机会，并付诸于努力追寻的行动实践中。

（4）在感恩中付出。最后我想指出：“发现”自己，还要“发现”自己与他人、与自然、与社会的关系。“发现”自己与他人的关系，应该认识到：在你成年之后，包括父母在内，没有人必须对你好，必须为你付出，对你好、为你付出，这是他人的选择，你应该为此心存感激，以感恩之心，努力回报。同时，你也要明白：你对他人好，为他人付出，不是为了回报，只是你喜欢、你愿意付出。也许这样，你可以更加坦然地面对人生，接受你对他人、他人对你的各种行为和结果，你的人生一定会拥有更多宁静、坦然、愉悦与美好。

至于，自己与自然、与社会的关系，要充分认识到：一个人在大自然与社会面前是如此的渺小，以感恩之心接受大自然与社会给予自己的一切馈赠，尊重自然，顺应社会，并为大自然更加美丽、社会更加美好，而不懈付出。

面对人工智能及其应用迅猛发展的今天，面对我们仍知之甚少的宇宙，面对哲学及伦理可能需要重建的未来，我们只有“发现”自己，让自己拥有更加充分的发展，才可能发现更大的世界，才能对自己、对人类、对宇宙，有更深刻的思考、更宏大的憧憬、更实在的规划，更好地发展自己，成为融入与照亮世界的中国人。

Dear students & teachers,

Hello, everyone! Welcome back to our beautiful campus. We have had a really difficult time, and many of our students have been away from school for more than 5 months. All of us have gone through a lot. What should we do in this VUCA era?

Perhaps, only by building a strong inner world can we take it easy when facing and handling those challenges. However, before we construct our inner world and accumulate our energy, we must first try to discover and find ourselves so that we may be able to find a bigger world, stand the test of various hardships in life, overcome difficulties and face up to challenges.

What are we supposed to find out about ourselevs? I hope all students will find out at least the following 4 aspects by keep learning and practising.

Firstly, learning is your own responsibility. Everyone begins the process of learning from birth. As long as they live in a normal and healthy society, they can learn to walk and talk on their own even without being taught by parents, and when they learn to talk, they will keep asking, "What is this?" "Why is that? "What's the matter with that? "What should I do? "......" In order to improve our selves, everyone is born to learn. In this sense, learning can be considered as an intrinsic genetic capacity.

Education, on the other hand, gradually came into existence so as to make everyone learn better. In essence, schooling provides an external condition and environment to support students' learning. Therefore, all students must be aware that they must learn independently, they must be responsible for their own learning, and no one else can affect their efforts paid in learning and the results they will get accordingly.

Secondly, find your dreams and set your goals in life. If you don’t aim high, it will be hard for you to navigate; Without setting the right goal, you will feel less motivated. Students should set their goals in life during high school years. They should weave dreams and set goals in life through their own thinking and analysis, and based on their own reality and needs, then they should study hard and take every action to realize their dreams and achieve their goals so that they may become self-motivated in improving and transcending themselves.

Thirdly, people are different from one another. People are born different, and each person should "find out” how he or she is different from others. When it comes to learning, not only each student is advantageous or disadvantageous in his or her learning potentials, but also they may learn different things in their own preferred style, at their preferred time and place, so the results of their learning may vary.

Therefore, everyone should be clearly aware of the differences among people, and stop comparing with others but with yourself. “Have I done better than yesterday? If I work hard today, will I do even better tomorrow?” I believe each student will make him or herself better and better by keeping improving little by little and step by step.

Fourthly, develop your own interests and strengths. Each student should try to "discover" his or her own strengths, and pay special attention to the cultivation of interests, the formation of hobbies and the development of strengths. People tend to achieve success in areas where they are advantaged, so each student should gradually find their own advantages in the process of learning and practice through comparison, analysis, summary and reflection, and devote more time and effort to making more extensive and in-depth study so that they may turn their advantages into their own interests and hobbies, then their strengths, and even their majors which require their further studies and their careers. In this way, you will probably harvest a better and successful life.

How can we better “discover”ourselves? Today, I want to discuss the following 4 points

Firstly, learn to make choices in practices. Engagement is the first step on the road leading to success. Without engagement, there is no possibility of success. We should experience in learning by attending various courses offered by school and feel in practice by participating in all kinds of school activities; We should discover ourselves and gradually make our own choices through constant comparison and analysis. "Choice produces responsibility" : On one hand, choice is an indispensable ability in the process of everyone's growth and development. We should try to establish our own values and standards of our own choice and develop the ability to make sensible choices. On the other hand, all of us should learn to be responsible for our own choices, "you will make progress and achieve success because you’ve made right choices", but "you will also have to bear the risk of failure for your wrong choices".

Secondly, practise with faith. No one’s life is always trouble-free. “Isn’t it true that a rainbow always appears after a storm?" Everyone is likely to experience repeated setbacks and failures after making a choice. At this time, we need a strong will to hold on to the choice we have made, and we need to stick to our faith and move forward. "Confidence is the key to success". No one can achieve success easily. A loser may have just failed once but never has the courage to stand up, while a winner may have failed countless times but is never discouraged and finally succeeds.

Therefore, we must have every confidence in ourselves and our success, and try to take action to achieve our goals. Meanwhile, I must tell each student: when you look back on your past life, you won’t feel regretful even if the result is not satisfactory because you kept trying and fighting and had a worthwhile process.

Thirdly, improve yourself by self reflection. While learning and working, no one’s dreams and goals will remain unchanged. If such changes make sense, it might actualy means that we choose to stick to our faiths in a different way, which requires even more wisdom.

There are opportunities everywhere in our society, and they are always waiting for those who are prepared for them. Our society is always changing, and everyone is likely to face many opportunities. The key to our success lies in whether we can find new opportunities and seize them by summarizing and reflecting on our past and present, and our interests and strengths.

Fourthly, devote ourselves to a great cause with gratitude. Finally, I would like to point out that to "discover" ourselves also means that we also need to find out our relationship with others, with nature, and with society. To find out our relationship with others, we need to  realize that when we grow up, no one, including our parents, has to be nice to us and devote everything to us. Whether to be nice to us or be devoted to us is the choice of others, and if they are, you should be grateful to them and try to repay them with gratitude. Meanwhile, you should also understand: when you choose to be kind to others, or be dedicated to them, you shall not require reciprocation but just are willing to do so.  Perhaps in this way, you can face life more calmly, accept the various interactions between you and others and the consequences of those interactions, and thus you will live a more peaceful and pleasant life.

In terms of our relationship with nature and society, we need to realize that an individual is so tiny in nature and society. We need to keep devoting ourselves to a more beautiful nature and a better society with a gratitude for all the gifts given by nature and society, and we need to pay respect to nature, and comply with our society.

Facing the rapid development of artificial intelligence and its applications today, facing the universe we still know little about, and facing the philosophy and ethics which may need to be rebuilt in the future, we can only further develop ourselves through discovering ourselves. Only through discovering ourselves can we find a bigger world, have a deeper thinking, a bigger vision of ourselves, mankind and the universe, and can we make a more realistic plan for ourselves and better improve ourselves so that we may become Chinese people who can blend in with the world and illuminate it.
