The Changsha BeeMee Forest School (CBFS) Primary School invites students in grades 1-6 to join their 2023 summer camp. The camp offers a week-long interdisciplinary theme unit of inquiry (UOI) flash experience class, which is a comprehensive, thematic, and creative course that utilizes CBFS teachers and teaching methods to facilitate in-depth understanding. Through interest-oriented activities that break disciplinary boundaries, students will acquire knowledge and learn how to solve practical problems using stretched spiral design thinking. This experience will awaken their love for learning and drive for exploration.

CBFS strictly implements the national curriculum standards by using advanced Chinese and Western educational principles and practices, as well as high-quality educational resources, experts, and talents. It draws on international advanced standards to formulate international curriculum objectives, teaching strategies and assessment methods, and establishes a comprehensive, international, and personalised BeeMee Curriculum System (BCS). BCS's integrated Chinese and Western Curriculum includes the Core Curriculum, Inquiry Curriculum and Featured Curriculum. 

Core Curriculum is the basis of the BCS, including Chinese, mathematics, English, science, morality and law, music, fine arts, physical education and health, labour skills and information technology.Inquiry Curriculum is a research curriculum based on the core curriculum, which is carried out in the form of  UOI thematic units of inquiry, is concept driven, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary. Featured Curriculum are the expansion and supplement of the core. BeeMee provides students with top-quality and rich compulsory courses, CCA, social practices, and other activities. Competitions and off campus practice at and outside school. The courses cover humanities, art, science and physical education, Such as equestrian, golf, chess, rock climbing, kayaking, calligraphy choir club, Korean language club, etc. CBFS organically integrates these three kinds of courses in daily teaching and delivers courses through a Project-Based Learning (PBL) system, inquiry, interdisciplinary and Chinese-English bilingual immersion, forming BeeMee's unique teaching model to promote the comprehensive, international, and healthy growth of students. 

In the interdisciplinary theme of the summer camp, "how the world works", the Unit of Inquiry involves STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics), Chinese, English, creative arts, and physical education. These subjects are richly expanded on the basis of the school's regular curriculum content, providing a diverse range of learning and experimental practice activities. The camp aims to stimulate students' interest in these subjects and help them broaden their academic horizons, enhance their scientific and creative thinking, and explore their artistic potential.

On the basis of the international curriculum, combined with ancient Chinese traditional culture - "Gentleman's Six Arts", the summer camp cultivates young gentlemen who are "sensitive and studious, happy and courteous, moral and artistic, and both wise and courageous", nourish and grow up with culture, and achieve the unity of knowledge and action.

Subject knowledge will no longer exist independently of each other, but in-depth exploration based on common themes. In addition to academic, many group discussions and team projects are set up in daily activities. When students encounter problems in the future, what helps them solve problems will no longer be simple knowledge, but more how to think, create and change, how to actively explore project-oriented learning, and work independently and cooperatively with partners. 

The course design focuses on practical exercises, aiming to help students quickly master project-based learning (PBL) skills while cultivating their teamwork, inquiry ability, problem-solving skills, independent thinking, critical thinking, and innovation ability.

In the summer camp, we will maintain the highest standard of teacher allocation from BeeMee, with small class sizes and a team consisting of an international homeroom teacher, a Chinese homeroom teacher, and a bilingual teaching assistant to ensure the quality of the summer camp courses. Throughout the camp period, all English guidance and communication will be conducted by foreign teachers, enabling students to rapidly improve their English language skills. Collaborative teaching between Chinese and foreign teachers, utilizing interdisciplinary inquiry learning methods, and creating an immersive English environment for listening, speaking, reading, and writing, will help students improve their academic and daily English communication skills, and communicate more confidently in English.

During the summer camp, students will participate in ongoing training on Inquiring Thinking and experience the five essential courses of CBFS: equestrian, fencing, canoeing, golf, and rock climbing. These courses take place in multiple settings to continually strengthen and stimulate knowledge understanding. Through these experiences, students will learn to actively think and solve problems and gain a comprehensive understanding of the learning process. The summer camp curriculum aims to improve students' cooperation, social communication, critical thinking, motor skills, innovation, creativity, and other soft skills. By finding their learning drive, students will acquire the ability to transfer knowledge to different contexts.

CBFS has four Houses: Curie, Einstein, Newton, and Tu Youyou (in alphabetical order), each with its own unique logo. We will divide students into mixed age groups to form small houses. Each house will be led by a teacher as the house tutor to guide students to help and cooperate with each other to complete the summer camp tasks. In the process of completing tasks, children will have positive interactions and build mutual trust and friendship. The tutor will pay attention to changes in the thoughts and emotions of the children in the house, encourage students to actively participate, guide them to learn to communicate and cooperate with others, and expand their thinking through exploration activities.

In the summer camp, on the final day, parents will be invited to the school and students will present on stage in the hall. Using a variety of ways to express themselves, such as presentations, drama, debates, and dances, they will showcase their learning and the results of their investigations with their own house group. This presentation will be a wonderful opportunity for parents and teachers to see the progress and achievements of the students throughout the week.

In this summer camp, students will have the opportunity to visit CBFS's new international campus, which features first-class teaching facilities such as multi-functional classrooms, subject-specific classrooms, and a connected equestrian training ground, air golf course, gym, rock climbing field, air feeding garden, and air connecting corridor. These spaces will serve as the teaching and activity areas for the summer camp, providing students with an unparalleled learning and living experience.
