In pursuit of the true meaning of education, inspire deep learning. In this autumn, ISA Wuhan launched ISA Talk, a series of public welfare education events. The events range from experts’ lectures, information sessions, masters’ classes, and parent workshops, which restore ISA's teaching practice and curriculum characteristics, and at the same time, provide a platform for sharing and exchanges for those who have a deep understanding of international education in ISA's community and all walks of life.

追寻教育真谛，启发深度学习。武汉爱莎金秋重磅推出ISA Talk公益教育系列讲座，通过教育大咖讲座、校园交流、大师课堂、家长工作坊等丰富精彩的活动，还原爱莎的教学实践及课程特色，同时为爱莎社区及社会各界中对国际教育有深刻理解的有识之士，提供一个分享与交流的平台。

On 13th October, ISA Wuhan held its first ISA TALK event for the new school year on campus. Mrs Victoria Jarratt Gibbs, the Literacy Coordinator of ISA Wuhan, discussed the importance of early reading strategies and the techniques to assist and support students' reading with parents under the theme of "Reading Development in the Home Environment”.

秋风暖阳，金桂飘香。武汉爱莎于10月13日在校园内举行了新学年首次ISA TALK 公益系列讲座活动，来自武汉爱莎外籍人员子女学校的文学协调员Victoria Gibbs老师以“如何在家庭阅读中让孩子获得学习力”为主题，与现场家长深入探讨学生早期阅读行为培养的重要性及方式技巧。

"Parents are the first teachers to enlighten their children's communication and expression skills.  It is important to create a home learning environment that stimulates inquiry, supports reading practice and inspires curiosity." Ms. Victoria said. Reading is a step-by-step approach, it is crucial to initially engage children in a book by looking at the pictures on the book cover and ask questions like "What kind of story do you think this is going to be? Who will be in this book?”.

“父母作为启蒙孩子沟通与表达能力的第一位老师，非常需要在家庭教育中为孩子创造一种鼓励探究、试错与启发好奇心的学习环境。”Victoria老师说。使用循序渐进的引导方式，例如在阅读前，与孩子一起通过观察书封上的图片，询问孩子“你认为这会是一个什么样的故事？谁会在这本书中出现？”。

During reading, parents need to give their children sufficient time to decode words by saying the sound of each phoneme and blending it together to make a word. After reading, parents can identify with their children the difficult words they encountered during the reading or ask them to retell the plot of the story in the book and ongoing plots. Using any of these strategies will improve your child's reading skills.

在阅读中，父母需要给予孩子充分的耐心，让他们养成主动调动大脑神经，解码音素含义的好习惯。在阅读后，父母可以和孩子一起总结之前阅读时遇到的困难单词，或让孩子复述书中故事的情节，联想接下来故事的走向。使用这些策略，都会对孩子阅读能力的提升大有裨益。

As one of the important forms of home-school interconnection, ISA TALK will organise more activities in the future to provide parents with positive support for their children's learning, unite the parents in the ISA community, and promote a harmonious atmosphere of home-school participation and communication, to continuously help children's learning ability to improve and achieve holistic development.
