Happy the Year of Dragon! Bai Ze, the mascot of ISA Wuhan House System, wishes you a prosperous year along with the other mascots, which will guard the the campus. In keeping with the tradition of elite private boarding schools in the United Kingdom, the boarding system at ISA Wuhan brings together students from different grades and backgrounds in a single house. Regular competitions on various themes are organised between the various colleges to foster a sense of belonging and honour among the students and to enhance their collaborative skills in a mixed-age education.

Bai Ze is an alternative name for the ancient Chinese mythical beast "dragon", a divine creature that knows all things and symbolises guardianship and responsibility. In the coming year, the ISA Wuhan community will continue to carry forward the spirit of the campus given by the mythical beast, Bai Ze - the spirit of knowledge, the spirit of courage, the spirit of reflection, and the spirit of leadership. Let's celebrate the new year together!

CRANE/ 鹤仙人

设计灵感：鹤仙人为学校校徽“星芒黄鹤”的化身,寓意来到爱莎的学生将开启不被设限的人生。黄鹤头上的红冠则代表着武汉丰富的历史文化遗产, 传承楚人丰富的艺术思想与文化内涵。

人物立设：陌上人如玉，公子世无双。恭顺谦和、风度翩翩，有点像屈原，说话慢条斯理，有点“端着”，充满智慧。

Inspiration: The crane is the embodiment of the school crest, the Starry Crane, signifying that students who come to ISA Wuhan will start a life without limitations. The red crown on the crane 's head represents Wuhan's rich historical and cultural heritage. It is a metaphor for the rich artistic ideas and cultural connotations of the Chu culture.

Trait: The stranger possesses the spirit of jade, with his unique nobleness. The Crane is gentle, modest, and elegant, a bit like Qu yuan, slow and deliberate in his speech dignified and full of wisdom.

DRAGON/ 白泽

设计灵感：白泽是中国上古瑞兽“龙”的别称，据南《宋书·符瑞志》中记载，白泽可知晓万物之情理，告诫百姓，为社会除害；在英格兰守护神《圣乔治与龙》的传说中，龙也象征着守护者，立于威尔士的国旗之上。

人物立设：稳重正经老大哥、天生贵胄颇具王者风范，知识渊博高富帅大学霸，热爱承担责任, 是四瑞兽中最听鹤仙人话的，被称为“行走的指南针”，擅长理科、金融数理化、IT精英等。

Inspiration: Bai Ze, also known as the dragon, is an omniscient creature presented in many Chinese legends and myths. According to the Book of Song Fu Rui Zhi, it can speak human languages and understand the reason of all things. The dragon can bring good fortune to people and help us dispel evil. It is also noteworthy that the dragon features greatly in British folklore such as England’s Patron St. George and the Dragon and the flag of Wales proudly sports the dragon prominently at its centre.

Trait: The Dragon is mature and serious, born to be a king. He is knowledgeable, wealthy, and willing to take responsibility. Of the four Auspicious Beasts, Dragon is the one who worships Crane the most. He is known as a "walking compass", handling the study of science, finance, mathematics, chemistry, and IT with ease.

PHOENIX/ 凤凰

设计灵感：凤凰是古代楚国与楚文化中最为崇尚的神鸟组合，雄为“凤”，雌为“凰”。据《尚书》记载，凤凰来仪，其背部花纹成 “礼”字形状；在古希腊神话中，同样也有凤凰涅槃的传说，比喻人不畏失败，无畏蜕变。我们由此为凤凰院舍设计了两个瑞兽，分别为“凰楚玉”和“凤栖梧”。

凰楚玉人物立设：萝莉搞笑女吃货一枚。活泼小公主，超级会跳舞，社交达人，直爽单纯可爱，一惊一乍古灵精怪，瑞兽组团宠。

凤栖梧人物立设：少年老成可爱小正太小书生，和凰凰在一起，更像她哥哥，家教很好、讲礼仪、懂礼貌学富五车，有创造力，绘画小天才。

Inspiration: The Phoenix (Feng Huang) is the most sacred creature in ancient Chinese Chu state and Chu culture, which the male God Bird is called the Feng and the female God Bird is called the Huang. According to the Book of Shang, the phoenix is an incarnation of Chinese courtesy with regard to the pattern on its back. In western culture, the creature is renowned for its phenomenal rise from the flames, where it was thought to have perished. Thereafter, it soared with great power to the heavens and is therefore a common symbol for coming back from defeat to claim victory. According to these, we’ve designed two mascots for Phoenix House, they are called Chuyu Huang and Qiwu Feng

Huang Chuyu’s Trait: She is a cute little gourmet, a lively princess, a superior dancer, and a social butterfly. She is straightforward, simple, and lovely, whimsical. No wonder why she is the most popular member of the group.

Feng Qiwu’s Trait: He is young and cute, but in fact he is a mature little scholar. When he was with his older sister, he looks like the more grown-up sibling. He is polite, courteous, erudite, and creative. He is also a talented painter.

TIGER/ 驺吾

设计灵感：驺吾是古代中国神话传说中的白兽之王，多次出现在例如《毛诗》等中国经典著作中；在电影《神奇动物：格林德沃之罪》中，善良的驺吾拯救了身处困境中的正义魔法师们，是正义的使者，也是忠诚的伙伴。

人物立设：憨憨壮壮健美小暖男，忠诚勇敢善良, 充满骑士精神，时而很淘气不是很稳重，喜好冒险，运动达人。

Inspiration: Zou Wu is a mythical animal in ancient Chinese mythology, and it appears many times in classical records of China such as Mao Poem. In Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, the loyal Zou Wu saves righteous magicians in plight. It is their most trustworthy partner.

Trait: The Tiger is simple and honest, sturdy, sweet, loyal, brave, kind, and with chivalry. He is a bit mischievous, adventurous, and physically active.

DOLPHIN/ 鲲鹏

设计灵感：鲲鹏是古代传说中的大鱼和大鸟，庄子在《逍遥游》中记载的鲲鹏从北海飞往南冥，实则隐喻人们需要用开阔的格局，以高维的智慧克服功利私欲，从长远的眼光发展人。在充满变化与挑战的未来世界，依然游刃有余。

人物立设：她表面上是酷拽知性文艺女青年,爱读书吟诗写小破文章，写诗歌，像个大姐姐一样很照顾其他弟弟妹妹，具有神秘感。

Inspiration: Kun Peng is a giant fish-looking bird in Chinese ancient legends. Being recorded in Zhuang Zhou's masterpiece Journey to Freedom, it flew persistently from the northern ocean to the southern ocean. Zhuang Zhou used Kun Peng as a metaphor for inspiring people to be open-minded, and to overcome utilitarian selfishness with high-level wisdom. Here at ISA Wuhan, we believe education is a marathon rather than a sprint. We wish students to embrace the ever-changing world full of confidence and skills so as to make us a more promising future.

Trait: The Dolphin is a cool, elegant, and artistic youth. She loves reading, reciting poem sand writing for herself. She takes care of other younger sisters and brothers. She is also mystical.

台历中收录的学生作品《回声》来自武汉爱莎文华中学（国际方向）的高一学生熊芷嫣。她凭借该作品，于2023年第十届“中法环境月”青少绘画大赛中荣获优胜奖(13-16岁组)！目前，熊芷嫣同学的参赛作品已经成功送往北京法国文化中心、北京法语联盟和798艺术中心艺栈画廊进行线下展览。

The calendar also includes the work from ISA Wuhan Student Cindy Xiong, a grade 10 student from ISA Wenhua Wuhan Secondary School (International Pathway), for winning the Excellence Award (13-16 Age Group) in the 10th "Sino-French Environmental Month" Youth Painting Competition in 2023! Cindy's entry, titled "Echo," has been successfully selected by the Beijing French Cultural Center, Beijing French Alliance, and the Art Stack Gallery in 798 Art Zone for on-site exhibition.

作品意义——By G10 熊芷嫣

“眼泪是我们人类表达伤心的一种方式，而环境也有自己独特的表达方式。在我看来，天上的酸雨就是云朵的眼泪，蓝色的雨滴代表忧伤和寒冷，黄色的雨滴代表希望和光明，黄、蓝色彩的碰撞形成了强烈的视觉反差。”

“其中最重要的是，这幅作品并不是单纯用纸笔创作而成的，画面里那些类似于宝石一样的彩色酸雨是我用卫生纸制作完成的，也希望借此呼吁大家保护地球资源与环境，学会对生活中的日常物进行再回收、再利用。”

"Tears are a way for us humans to express sadness, and the environment also has its unique way of expression. In my view, acid rain in the sky is like tears from the clouds. The blue raindrops represent sadness and coldness, while the yellow raindrops symbolize hope and brightness. The collision of these yellow and blue colors creates a strong visual contrast."

"What's most important is that this artwork is not simply created with pen and paper. Those jewel-like, colorful acid raindrops in the picture are made by me using tissue paper. Through this artwork, I also hope to call upon everyone to protect Earth's resources and environment, and to learn to recycle and reuse everyday items in our lives."
