There are many multi-child families in the BRS community: parents with successful careers send several children from their family to Beijing Royal School. 

When it comes to international education, choosing the right school from the many international schools in China is a common concern for many families.

In this post, we would like to interview a mother, Ms. Jin, and share the story of her two sons who live and study at BRS. This will allow more of our prospective families to gain more insight into what makes BRS a strong choice for these parents.

BRS: What made you decide to send your two children to Beijing Royal School?

Ms. Jin: The school's teaching force and educational philosophy were important to me. I knew that BRS is one of the few schools with a full IB programme. My eldest son, who is currently learning the PYP programme, has made great progress both academically and in his personal development. Therefore, I have decided to send my second child to BRS in the hope that he will achieve the same all-round development at BRS as his brother.

BRS: Your two sons are currently in a transition period, with the eldest about to enter junior high school and the younger entering primary school, how do you feel about that?

Ms. Jin: When we were choosing a school for our eldest son, we had already decided to go for an international education. Therefore, the consistency of the curriculum is one of the things that I appreciate very much, which can reduce the social pressure for my children and also have a good process of developing their adaptability. It also allows them to focus more on their academic studies, which makes me feel more at ease.

BRS: How did you develop your child's hobbies?

Ms. Jin: Fostering hobbies is a process of trial and error. For our eldest son, who loves sports, we chose golf. In addition, based on his art studies at BRS primary school, he still insists on learning to play the violin. It is worth mentioning that BRS provides many platforms for children to practice and showcase their talents.

BRS: How do you nurture your children's holistic skills such as the spirit of exploration?

Ms. Jin: In line with the school's educational philosophy, we encourage our children to take part in activities such as camping, where they can fully develop their hands-on, problem-solving, survival and other all-round skills.

BRS: How do you help your child plan their holidays?

Ms. Jin: As far as holiday arrangements are concerned, there is really no extra tuition for them. I think the school's arrangements for learning are already very effective and we are assured of their studies as long as they take them seriously. So it will be more for them to develop their hobbies and interests.
