美国留学最新数据发布：留学生人数再破百万，57%选择STEM专业，OPT申请人数创新高

The Open Doors 2025 Report presents a comprehensive picture of international educational exchange in the United States for the 2024/25 academic year.

"The US study abroad market is entering a new phase characterized by 'stock optimization' and 'employment orientation.' The number of students choosing to stay in the US for Optional Practical Training (OPT) after graduation has surged to 294,000.

With 57% of international students in the US opting for STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), the era of solely pursuing the 'prestige of top universities' is fading. Selecting a STEM major provides access to a total of 36 months of OPT time.

Leveraging the OPT internship policy and establishing a career path from the very beginning of one's studies will be the key to future success. Today's international students are no longer satisfied with merely 'obtaining a diploma'; they place extreme value on 'work experience' and 'securing employment in the US' as their ultimate goal."

UCAS recently released data for the 2025 undergraduate application cycle. UCAS received a total of 759,830 applications, a slight increase of 1% from 752,210 last year, while total acceptances reached 577,725, up 2.3% year on year. China remained the largest source of international students, with 19,480 acceptances, representing a 14% increase compared with the previous year. In terms of subject choice, acceptances rose notably in applied and traditionally popular disciplines, including engineering and technology (+4,035), subjects allied to medicine (+3,130), law (+2,610), social sciences (+2,140), and mathematical sciences (+735).

Australia's study abroad policy has introduced new changes, with the 2025 regulations being particularly important for students planning to study in Australia in the future, especially regarding significant updates to financial requirements.

Student visa applicants must now meet stricter financial capacity requirements, including: an increase in funding requirements for studying abroad, higher expenses for accompanying family members, restrictions on using digital currencies as proof of funds, and modifications to deposit and freezing requirements (Up to 6 months instead of the previous 3 months)
