As of February 1, 2026, a total of 1,401,214 first-year applicants have submitted applications to 913 Common App member institutions, a 2% increase from the 1,368,306 applicants recorded in the same period of the 2024–25 application cycle.

As of February 1, 2026, the total number of applications to Common App member schools has risen from 8,715,557 in the 2024–25 cycle to 9,188,630 in the 2025–26 cycle, representing a 5% growth.

Additionally, in the 2025–26 application cycle, the number of applicants from China decreased by 2% year-on-year to a total of 17,827. Nevertheless, Chinese applicants still constitute the largest group among all international applicants.

Based on official information from the UK government, starting from February 25, 2026, a variety of visa categories—including visitor visas and seasonal worker visas—will fully transition to electronic visas (eVisas), eliminating the issuance of physical visa stickers in passports. This move marks the end of the traditional "sticker visa" era, following the previous transition of student visas to the eVisa system last year.

Once your visa is approved, the applicant will no longer need to collect a physical vignette or BRP card; instead, link eVisa to the UKVI account.

On February 28th, the University of Hong Kong (HKU) made a strategic "two-pronged move" in Shanghai. In the morning, the HKU Zhangjiang Base was inaugurated, followed by the unveiling of the HKU Shanghai Headquarters on the Bund in the afternoon.

It is designed to serve as a vital link and bridge for deep collaboration between HKU and Shanghai, a key hub for the university's global alumni network, and a core platform for exchange among scholars, students, scientists, and entrepreneurs from the two cities.
