MIS is a community of exploration and openness, using open teaching methods and prioritizing the development of students' abilities. With the IB mindset, MIS students are knowledgeable and well-versed in communication and self-reflection, placing importance on their character development along with their academic pursuits. They approach learning with curiosity and a spirit of inquiry, following social etiquette and possessing the ability to collaborate with others. MIS students maintain individualized development in their learning processes, exploring the essence of things, reasoning, and substantiating arguments, and deepening their knowledge through various forms of discovery, investigation, and research methods. They apply their academic knowledge to practical situations; MIS students' learning process is a self-exploration and self-actualization process.

 How do MISers learn?

 Let's take a look at

 the highlights of

 September 4th Week.

1

Address by the Principal from the MIS Weekly Midday Assembly

Date:September 25th

Message from Principal Ms. Alice

Good noon, dear students! I would like to talk to you about the way you get along with people at school and the need for harmonious relationships. As you all know, MIS is like a small society in which every member needs to work together to build harmonious relationships with each other.

Harmonious relationships not only make us feel happy and satisfied, but also build self-confidence, keep us optimistic, help us solve problems and deal with conflicts, as well as better learn and gain knowledge and skills from school.

When in conflict with others, please do remember the agreement we have made at MIS: if both parties can come to an understanding or express an apology, then you can deal with the issue on your own. However, if your own emotions are out of control and you are unable to resolve the conflict on your own, please be sure to inform your teacher in the first instance so that he or she can help you analyze the problem, facilitate communication of the issue, and find a solution to the problem together.

It is worth emphasizing that building friendly, respectful, caring and harmonious relationships is not only the personal goal of each member of the MIS community, but also our common goal. In such a friendly environment, we can better respect each other and care for others, and at the same time gain more friendship and intimacy. Such a harmonious relationship will serve as a support for our common growth and help us to better adapt to the various challenges of school life.

Therefore, I hope that we can all work together to build a harmonious MIS community with a friendly, respectful and caring attitude in mind. Each of us has the responsibility to listen to others, to respect each other's point of view and to try to understand problems from each other's point of view.

It is only through such interactions that we will be able to build a truly harmonious relationship and enjoy the positive impact from this community together.

In conclusion, I hope that we can all cherish this harmonious environment created by our joint efforts and grow together in this MIS community to gain more knowledge, skills and friendship. Let's work together to integrate harmonious relationships into every corner of MIS and create a pleasant and cozy campus life!

In addition, I would like to take this opportunity to share with you a psychological effect in psychology that we find it difficult to extricate ourselves from - the birdcage effect. Through this effect, I would like to remind you to re-examine the way you manage your time and use it as a guide to plan and utilize each day rationally and efficiently.

Everyone has inertia and habitually follows past patterns. However, we should break this stereotypical thinking and be goal oriented to organize our time wisely in order to gain more knowledge and skills in MIS studies.

For scheduling your time, you can try to sort them according to the following principles: urgent and important, important and urgent, urgent and unimportant, and important and not urgent. By sorting your time in this way, you can clearly list the tasks and goals you need to accomplish every day, and discard those learning, communication and socializing methods that are both time-consuming and ineffective. Don't let your mind be confined to its inherent birdcage.

Dare to think outside the box, try new approaches and stick to your goals. Let's keep challenging ourselves to find a time management style that works for us so that we can better balance our studies and rest.

Students, time management is an ongoing challenge, but it is a skill that is vital to our growth. By breaking the birdcage effect, we can broaden our horizons and find more opportunities to learn, grow and practice. Working together, let's break free from our constraints, pursue self-breakthroughs, and pave a broader path for our future. I wish each of us to develop good time management habits in the MIS community, to keep challenging ourselves and to create a wonderful life of our own!

Last but not least, I very much hope that MIS students will develop an international outlook and a pluralistic mindset as a way of accepting and respecting ways of thinking from different races and different cultural backgrounds and experiences from different countries and regions.

We should realize that every person and every country has a unique background and history, which is the basis for our mutual understanding and respect.

I encourage you to look beyond your own perspectives and experiences to examine and understand the perspectives and experiences of others, as well as those of other countries. Different perspectives can complement and enrich each other, helping us to view the world more objectively and dialectically. In MIS, we should stand in the center of the world, and our viewpoints on affairs should not be confined to local and narrow perspectives, but should integrate the wisdom of different cultures and think and solve problems with a global mindset.

For MIS students, attitudes towards other people and countries should not be changed by differences in color, creed, language and culture. We need to learn to look at and evaluate each individual and country dialectically. Every individual and country has its own strengths and weaknesses, and these characteristics should not be the only criteria for us to evaluate them. We should learn from others, from other countries, borrow their experiences and successes, and provide help and support when needed. Through this way of thinking, we can realize the exchange and integration of different cultures and promote the development and progress of various countries and regions around the globe.

In the study of MIS, we should not only focus on the development of critical thinking, but also learn to dialectize and unify. This includes seeking the best solutions through diversified thinking when evaluating perspectives and making decisions. We should fully assimilate the merits of various viewpoints and eliminate bias and discrimination as much as possible. Such integrative thinking will help us make more informed and comprehensive decisions in school and in our future careers.

Finally, we should live peacefully with people from different backgrounds based on the values of tolerance, respect and mutual assistance. We should always have an open mind, be willing to listen to and understand the perspectives of others, and contribute to building a harmonious international community. Through this effort of communion and cooperation, we will build a better and opportunity-filled future. Let's grow together at MIS and become leaders with global perspectives and exceptional thinking skills!

Message from Foreign

Academic Principal Dr. Rath

Dear students, good noon! The topic I share with you today is "Confidence Everywhere!" Confidence is a crucial quality and attitude in our lives. It helps us not only face challenges better but also fully realize our strengths and achieve our dreams.

Firstly, confidence can help us learn and grow better in school. When we believe we have the ability to master knowledge and skills, we will participate more actively in class, asking questions bravely and expressing our views. We will not fear making mistakes but learn from them, making continuous progress. A confident mindset can also help us better cope with exam pressure, stay calm and focused, and achieve better results.

Secondly, confidence is also very important in interpersonal communication. When we have confidence in ourselves, we can communicate and collaborate with classmates more freely. We can express our opinions bravely, participate in various activities, and make more friends.

Confidence can also help us better handle conflicts and difficulties, maintain a positive attitude, and find solutions to problems. In teamwork, confidence allows us to better realize our talents and contribute to the team's outstanding achievements.

Finally, in future career development, confidence is crucial. When we have confidence in our abilities and potential, we will be more courageous to pursue our dreams and challenge higher goals. Confidence can inspire our creativity and innovation capabilities, allowing us to try new things and face unknown challenges. Meanwhile, confidence can also help us establish good interpersonal relationships, demonstrating our leadership and teamwork abilities, gaining better opportunities and career development.

Therefore, classmates, please always maintain a confident attitude! Whether in school, interpersonal relationships, or career development, confidence is the key to our success. Let us believe in our own abilities and values, face challenges actively, and pursue our dreams. With confidence, we will have a more fulfilling and rewarding learning and life! Story sharing "My Amulet," this story brings us the message that believing we can do something is a power, implying that not believing we can do it is also a power. All strength comes from within you, but when you firm up your beliefs, you will be able to overcome difficulties and achieve success.

The story "My Amulet" tells us that when facing challenges and difficulties, faith is our most powerful weapon. This story brings us the message that regardless of what difficulties and challenges we face, believing we can do it is a powerful force.

Inner confidence and firm beliefs can stimulate our potential and fighting spirit, allowing us to overcome all difficulties. When we believe in our own abilities, we will find that the strength we have is far stronger than we imagine. It also tells us that when your inner doubts disrupt your beliefs, your actions and execution will also lose their power.

Therefore, let us believe in our own abilities and potential, everything comes from your inner thoughts, firm up your beliefs. Regardless of the difficulties we face, grasp the amulet of confidence, tell ourselves "I can do it," and use this as motivation to pursue our dreams. As long as we firm up our beliefs, the strength within us will guide us towards the path of success. Believe in yourself, you will be able to overcome anything and achieve your goals!

How to achieve confidence in MIS? We also need to use realistic strategies to achieve them. Today, I will share these strategies with you. When strategy combines with confidence, a real magic will be generated that can multiply your success rate.

This basic but powerful magic is:

1.eat well (eat healthy and nutritious food)

2.study well (learn as much as possible)

3.play well (let yourself enjoy a pleasant and relaxed way)

4.sleep enough (sleep 9 hours every day)

5.making plans and goals and acting according to them!

Please remember that confidence everywhere starts from within you. It's about what kind of goals you pursue, how you pursue them, and the decision never to give up. I hope you are all responsible for your decisions and never give up! Believe in yourself and work hard for your dreams!

Part.1

P1 IB UOI Class

As IB learners, students in P1 are currently studying the interdisciplinary unit theme of "Who We Are". With the 10 IB learner profiles, their learning extends beyond pure subject boundaries to focus on multiple skills and abilities. During the learning process, children explore the content through brainstorming and various activities, with the expectation that they will become knowledgeable accumulators and active explorers.

This week's focus for P1's interdisciplinary unit is on the theme "Who We Are". Children actively explore the secrets of the human body, starting with the limbs and gradually delving into organs and the digestive system within the body, and then returning to our five senses. They deepen their understanding of various organs and tissues through asking questions, watching scientific animation, reading picture books, and painting and games. This interdisciplinary teaching approach helps children establish a more comprehensive knowledge system in their learning and cultivate their critical thinking and inquiry skills. At the same time, through participating in various activities and collaborative projects, they will learn teamwork, communication skills, and independent thinking skills.

We hope to provide children with challenging and diverse learning experiences in classrooms, encouraging them to become well-rounded IB learners.

In addition, children also completed an activity called "The Adventures of Food", through which they learned about the "adventure journey" of food entering the mouth and traveling through the human body. Children made their best efforts to complete a painting and description of the digestive system inside the human body, demonstrating their deep understanding of this topic.

In addition to the digestive system, we also learned why the human heart is so important. Children are full of curiosity and interest in this most important organ inside their bodies. They asked many interesting and meaningful questions, and through this process, they experienced the pleasure and sense of achievement of asking questions and obtaining answers. Through participating in theme courses, children gradually mastered positive learning attitudes and skills, learning to ask questions and actively seek answers. This is of great significance for their lifelong learning and growth.

We are very pleased to see children's active participation and growth in the interdisciplinary unit theme "Who We Are". Their curiosity and spirit of inquiry will continue to drive them to pursue knowledge and discover new miracles in their future learning!

In the coming learning, students in UOI classroom P1 will continue to explore the five senses and consider how to protect our bodies and what actions can make our bodies work better. We look forward to sharing with you!

Part.2

P2 Dance Class

The children in P2 are very engaged in dance class! Both girls and boys are attentive and active! With the rhythm of music, the children in P2 experience the charm of Polka folk dance music, and this lively and jumping rhythm makes the children excited!

In learning basic skills, single-leg spring steps and slip steps are the key areas that the children focus on. Most children can accurately keep pace with the rhythm and perform the movements very well!

To help the children better master these movements, we encourage group interaction in class, allowing children to help each other. This cooperative approach has achieved good results. Children show high participation in every aspect of the class, and the entire class atmosphere is very active.

In the next two weeks, we will gradually add elements such as forward and backward steps and spins to form Polka dance steps. These movements require stronger ankle strength from the children, so we have introduced practices such as pressing half-toe and toe-stepping exercises to enhance their ankle strength. We encourage children to integrate dance learning into their daily lives and use their free time at home to review and consolidate.

This dance learning not only allows children to master Polka dance techniques and rhythm, but more importantly, it brings them fun and meaning. Through dance, children can not only express their emotions but also enhance their social skills, improve coordination and focus. Dance brings children the joy and sense of achievement, while cultivating teamwork and a spirit of mutual assistance.

We encourage children to bring their imagination into dance and inject their own personality and style, making dance a way of self-expression. Dance is not only an art form but also an important way for children to build self-confidence, shape their personality, and cultivate a spirit of cooperation.

We believe that through dance learning and exploration, children will discover their unique charm and create their own wonderful dance melodies. Let's look forward to children finding happiness in the ocean of dance and feeling their growth and progress!

Part.3

P3 Sports Class

During this week's physical education class, the students in P3 practiced basic gymnastics techniques including horse jumping, front roll, and side handspring training. Through these exercises, the children not only mastered the essentials of basic gymnastics techniques but also learned correct movement execution and body coordination methods.

In the classroom practice, they not only improved their physical agility and flexibility but also developed basic gymnastics skills and team collaboration abilities.

Gymnastics has greatly helped the physical development of the children. Horse jumping can exercise their leg strength and balance, improve their coordination and explosive power; front roll can cultivate their flexibility and body control abilities, making them more agile and flexible; side handspring movements require children's muscle cooperation and body strength control, allowing them to experience the exploration and breakthrough of their own potential.

Through gymnastics training, students can improve their physical coordination, flexibility, and strength control, laying a solid foundation for their future sports activities.

Through mutual encouragement and support, they have developed a sense of teamwork and collective honor, which has a positive impact on their social skills and team collaboration consciousness, laying a solid foundation for them to face various group activities and projects in the future. In the process of learning, the children in P3 can integrate their own personality and creativity, demonstrating their own style and physical expression. Through free performance and trying new elements, they constantly enrich the presentation of gymnastics movements.

Through gymnastics learning and training, students can not only master correct exercise postures and force techniques, improve coordination and movement performance, but also establish self-confidence and learning drive. At the same time, we also conducted group races in running, football, and frisbee. We observed that students gradually discovered their own potential and abilities through the efforts of both individuals and collectives. We believe that these skills and qualities will play a positive role in promoting their future growth, making them outstanding individuals with comprehensive development.

Part.4

P4 Sports Class

In this week's exercise program, we supplemented our normal fitness routine with training in Ultimate Frisbee. The P4 students have mastered several techniques for throwing a Frisbee as well as the rules of Ultimate Frisbee competition. They are having a great time learning, which is how we want exercise to make our kids feel! To further enhance this learning, we are asking our students to actively participate in a variety of competitive and non-competitive activities, focusing on the elements of running, jumping, throwing, catching, communication and balance. Through these sports, we will equip students with a variety of new motor skills and creative challenges to improve their fundamental athletic abilities.

During Ultimate Frisbee training, students will be exposed to leapfrogging activities that require them to run and jump to compete for control of the Frisbee. They will learn how to accurately throw a Frisbee and catch it while running at high speeds. This builds their reaction time and hand-eye coordination. Meanwhile, Ultimate Frisbee focuses on teamwork and communication. Students need to communicate and cooperate to develop tactics and achieve goals. This will develop their teamwork and leadership skills.

In addition, Ultimate Frisbee also focuses on balance training. Students need to keep their body balanced in order to remain stable while throwing and catching the Frisbee. This is a great exercise for kids' core muscles and body control. With Ultimate Frisbee, students will have the opportunity to improve their body perception and coordination. They will learn how to avoid collisions and injuries during sports, thus improving their safety awareness. Such abilities are not only useful in the classroom but can also benefit them in other sports and daily life.

Most importantly, Ultimate Frisbee's education and training not only provides a well-rounded approach to physical exercise, but also fosters a sense of teamwork and competitiveness. Students will learn to respect others, work together, and understand that the best results can only be achieved through cooperation. This will have a positive impact on their future studies and in life. Through Ultimate Frisbee's education and training, P4 students also develop their physical abilities in a variety of ways to improve coordination, balance, and teamwork. This will help them to become well-rounded individuals and excel in their future studies and lives.

Part.5

P5 UOI Art Class

The students in P5 successfully completed the collage project "My Mom/Dad is a Superhero" in just one class period. The purpose of this task was to help students better understand the concept of heroism and appreciate the care of their loved ones around them. Collage was a new learning content for the students, but they had a great experience during this activity and were able to complete the project quickly. This activity was not only an art practice but also an opportunity to cultivate students' creativity and expression abilities.

In the second class period, the students conducted an art experiment and attempted to use mixed media techniques. For them, using watercolors and gouache together was a challenge. They depicted a flower using correct color combinations and demonstrated spatial awareness. This technique not only required them to master color usage but also tested their understanding of shape and perspective. This presented higher demands on the students' artistic perception and creativity.

Both the collage and mixed media pieces provided the students with many opportunities to showcase their imagination and unique aesthetic. Through cutting, pasting, and doodling, they could express their understanding of their parents' heroic images in a unique and rich way.

This creative process not only improved the students' artistic skills but also cultivated their self-expression and confidence.

In addition, the collage project carried an important message of gratitude. Through this artistic creation, the students expressed sincere gratitude to their parents. By demonstrating the importance and influence of their parents in their lives through collage, the students were able to think more deeply about and appreciate the warmth and care of their families. This gratitude not only made the students appreciate their loved ones more but also nurtured their grateful hearts and moral cultivation.

In summary, the students in P5 not only further developed their artistic skills but also expressed gratitude to their parents through collage creation and mixed media experiments. This activity not only provided students with a platform to showcase their individual imagination and creativity but also cultivated their self-expression abilities and grateful hearts. Through the creation of artworks, students not only mastered artistic skills but also enriched their emotional world and humanistic literacy.

Part.6

P6 UOI Music Class

The core ideas for the P6 class over the next few sessions will be centered around the impact of heroes, human values and beliefs. We will be looking at what makes a person a hero, the qualities that heroes possess and the things that they do. We will incorporate this idea in our music lessons this week. The learning objective is to provide students with opportunities to listen, respond, and make connections to musical pieces that represent heroes. We will explore the following questions: what makes a person a hero? What are the qualities that a hero possesses? What do heroes do? By listening to some heroic music, we will each voice our own opinions and listen to the ideas of others.

First, we listened to Richard Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries. This music exudes a strong sense of heroism. We will explore what gives this music such a strong sense of heroism through discussion. Students will be able to share their impressions and associations with this music, which will lead to deeper reflection on what qualities make a hero.

Afterward, we listen to the closing div of Rossini's Overture to William Tell. Students will be encouraged to imagine what the heroes might have been doing while they were listening to this music This association will stimulate students' creativity and imagination while helping them to better understand what it means to be a hero and to take action.

Finally, we will review the chords we learned last week in ukulele class. This div is a review portion of our music class to deepen the students' understanding and application of chords. By reviewing chords, students will be able to better understand the role of harmony and chords in music making.

Through this lesson, we aim to express the hero's creative thoughts through music. Students will have the opportunity to trigger their understanding and imagination of the hero through listening and discussion. At the same time, they will further consolidate their musical skills and lay the foundation for more in-depth musical exploration in the future.

Through the appreciation of music lessons as well as discussion and actual performance, students will gain a deeper understanding of the concept and impact of heroes. They will learn to appreciate heroic themes in music and inspire their own thoughts on heroic qualities through musical expression. This will help develop their creativity, imagination and thinking skills and further broaden their understanding and appreciation of music.

Part.7

M1 Social Science Class

History class has been a real joy to have this year. In history class we have been examining countries around the world. In preparation for this I choose the top 26 countries for Chinese people to travel to according to CTRIP. With this in mind we are examining each countries every week. We are starting with burning questions that students have about each country. What is the food like? What is the history of this country? Why do certain countries have different cultural aspects? There are many questions we are exploring but these are just a few.

This means that we are generating ideas together and students are researching, investigating and presenting their own questions. The students will then present their findings to the class. This is a powerful approach because it allows students to express themselves and take ownership of the classroom. This is also a chance for them to work on their presentation skills. Confidence, voice, body language, and information are the criteria that students will be graded on when presenting their information in class. These are critical skills that all students must have in order to achieve excellence in any field. Every week is a chance for them to hone their skills of research and presentation.

As for the progress in class so far, things are going well. This past weekend we worked on our research skills and this week we worked on creating Power Point Presentations (PPTs). The students have been demonstrating their ability to create PPTs and are learning new skills to make them better. I am excited to see their new presentations this week and in the weeks to come. I have seen excitement students have had as they take ownership of their collective learning. I have also seen more students having more confidence to speak more and better.

Part.8

M2  ICT Class

I am very excited to share what the M2 students have achieved in their Information Communication Technology (ICT) lessons this week! In this lesson, students learned how to create flyers and posters using Canva, a versatile graphic design tool! Canva is an extremely useful and powerful platform that offers a variety of design templates and tools that make it easy for users to create stunning graphic designs.

In this course, M2 students were actively involved in hands-on activities to explore the basics of flyer and poster design, layout, and various creative elements through the use of Canva. They learned how to select and adjust different fonts, colors, and images to make flyers and posters more appealing and professional looking!

By using Canva's drag-and-drop features and preset templates, students were soon able to create their own unique flyers. This invaluable skill enables our students to effectively communicate information by expressing creative intent in a visually appealing way. Whether it's in academics or in everyday life, they can now apply what they've learned to present content in a more interesting and interactive way.

With Canva, students are better able to demonstrate their creativity and expressiveness while improving their digital literacy and visual communication skills.

I am proud of the enthusiasm and creativity that these students demonstrated in this lesson! They explored and experimented with their hearts and dared to try different design elements and typography. Their results were stunning and demonstrated their understanding and talent for graphic design.

I am very much looking forward to exploring more digital skills in the coming weeks. Canva is just the tip of the iceberg in the ICT curriculum and we will continue to explore tools and applications that will help students to better meet the challenges of the digital age. By learning and practicing these skills, we are confident that our students' creativity, problem-solving skills, and innovative thinking will be further developed!

Part.4

Part.5

Part.6

Part.7

Part.8
