The AMC Math Competition in Australia is currently one of the largest and oldest inter-school math assessment activities in the world, with over 16 million students from 32 countries participating. This year, MIS voluntarily participated with 26 students, of whom 25 won awards, with an award rate of 96.15%, much higher than the national average. These awards not only reflect the students' mathematical abilities but also demonstrate their true performance in the competition.

The characteristics of MIS mathematics courses are as follows:
To maintain the academic advantage of MIS students in mathematics, we have carefully considered the construction of the MIS mathematics curriculum. We adopt English math courses with multiple dimensions and explore math in the English language to nurture students' innovative and critical thinking. MIS students are encouraged to actively think and explore math problems, not just simply accept the teacher's guidance. They will participate in practical problems, and discuss and practice to solve math problems. This teaching method is far from the traditional mechanical memory and rote learning, but to encourage students to build the meaning and logic behind mathematical thinking, and deeply understand the essence of mathematical concepts.
In their studies of mathematics, students actively apply mathematical principles and techniques, construct mathematical thinking, discover mathematical models and relationships, and develop the ability of systematic thinking and logical reasoning. The multi-dimensional mathematics course of MIS aims to enable students to proficiently master basic knowledge and skills of mathematics, and cultivate their mathematical thinking and problem-solving abilities. We hope that through such learning experiences, students not only achieve their mathematical learning goals but also apply mathematical knowledge to real-life situations and develop interests and love for mathematics and science.
What are the characteristics of the MIS Math Club?
MIS not only focuses on students' mathematics learning but also implements diversified teaching methods to provide students with a rich and colorful mathematics learning experience. In addition to classroom learning, the school also offers math interest clubs and math exploration groups. These clubs and activities are personally guided by experienced teachers from the school's mathematics teaching center, who have rich teaching experience and are committed to stimulating students' interest and enthusiasm for mathematics.
A popular activity is the P1-P3 International Math Club, which is a club course designed especially for younger elementary school students. In this club, students explore mathematical concepts such as numbers, shapes, and patterns through interesting math games and practical activities. This not only helps them to consolidate basic mathematical skills, but also cultivates their observation, thinking flexibility, and problem-solving abilities.
For P4 students, the North American Math Union (NAMU) Fun Club is a course designed for them. In this club, students will exercise their problem-solving skills and creative thinking through participation in interesting math challenges. This club not only helps students to understand mathematical concepts more deeply but also cultivates their logical reasoning and analytical abilities, laying a solid foundation for their future studies.
The most challenging math club at MIS is the preparation for the AMC mathematics competition and other influential competitions. Designed for students in grades P5-M2, this club aims to cultivate students' mathematical competition skills and abilities to solve complex problems. We hope that students can not only improve their mathematical skills and academic abilities but also learn how to apply mathematical knowledge to solve practical problems.
The MIS students' mathematics learning goal:
The goal is to inspire students' interest in mathematics and increase their learning motivation through diversified mathematics learning methods. MIS Mathematics Teaching Center hopes to provide these diverse ways of mathematics learning to help students develop practical mathematical skills and cultivate important abilities such as independent learning, cooperation, and innovation. MIS mathematics learning environment is a new world of mathematics, allowing students to experience the charm of mathematics in exploration, discovery, and creation.
