MIS is a community of exploration and openness, using open teaching methods and prioritizing the development of students' abilities. With the IB mindset, MIS students are knowledgeable and well-versed in communication and self-reflection, placing importance on their character development along with their academic pursuits. They approach learning with curiosity and a spirit of inquiry, following social etiquette and possessing the ability to collaborate with others. MIS students maintain individualized development in their learning processes, exploring the essence of things, reasoning, and substantiating arguments, and deepening their knowledge through various forms of discovery, investigation, and research methods. They apply their academic knowledge to practical situations; MIS students' learning process is a self-exploration and self-actualization process.

Monday Noon Assembly

Date: March 3

Hosted by Curie House

▲Announcement of the Top Three Students in the House's Weekly Individual Points Standings

Principal Speech by Ms. Hermione

Sportsmanship is not just about honor, it is about how we participate in the competition. It embodies respect, fairness, and the grace to maintain composure regardless of the outcome. Sports teach us many valuable life lessons, such as perseverance, teamwork, and respect for others. These are vivid reflections of the IB Learner Objectives of “principled” and “caring.”

On the badminton court at the 2024 Paris Olympics, athlete He Bingjiao epitomized the pinnacle of sportsmanship. After securing the silver medal in the women's singles final, she deliberately wore a Spanish flag badge as she ascended the podium. This was a heartfelt tribute to the renowned Spanish player Carolina Marín, who had withdrawn from the competition due to injury. This moment of humanity reminds us that true sportsmanship is always founded on the bedrock of empathy, transcending the boundaries of victory and defeat through mutual respect and understanding.

Sports not only help us maintain health, relieve stress, and build confidence, but also teach us to adhere to rules in fierce competition, to respect and care for opponents regardless of the outcome, and to learn mutual support, even when we come from different teams. This is the true essence of the sports spirit.

As MIS House Sports Meet approaches, I sincerely hope that both athletes and spectators will demonstrate the spirit of sportsmanship. Athletes, please strive toward your goal, respect your opponents and savor the joy of competition. Spectators, please cheer for every participant, not just for your friends. Your encouragement will make a tremendous difference.
