幼儿园中方园长吴丽钦:当我们谈论教育的时候,在谈什么

The Early Years School in summer is like a large amusement park full of vitality. The children participating in the summer camp play in groups, and the handicraft works full of children's interests are displayed in the corridor. As the new Chinese Head of Early Years School, Katelyn Wu has already begun her busy work. With short hair, she is lively and elegant. Before joining Fettes College Guangzhou Early Years School, Katelyn Wu was the principal and director of renowned international schools, leading teams in curriculum reform. In addition to managing the school, she also served as EAL coordinator, responsible for planning and supporting foreign teachers' professional development and curriculum practice in five Early Years Schools.

从一线教师到园长,吴丽钦女士在近二十年教学和管理工作中积累了丰富的实践经验,特别是在国际文凭组织小学项目(IBPYP)课程、生成课程以及英国早期教育体系(EYFS)方面。她深知,学校的办学理念、课程体系、教学团队、家校合作等对幼儿园的长足发展起着重要影响。为此,她提出幼儿园应该以“为孩子打造一个多文化、多语言、充满挑战性和启发性的学习环境”为基础,继续推行幼儿园已有的重要举措,并建立和发展专业高质量的教学团队。在坚持“一切为了孩子”的原则下,学校将进一步推进学校与家长在各方面的协作,建立积极的关系、文化和价值观,以确保幼儿在学习和成长过程中得到全面的支持和发展。

Katelyn Wu has gained a wealth of practical experience in teaching and management from front-line teacher to head teacher for nearly two decades, especially in the IBPYP curriculum, the Generative Curriculum and the UK Early Years System (EYFS). She knows that a school's philosophy, curriculum system, teaching team and home-school cooperation play an important role in the long-term development of Early Years School. To this end, she proposed that the Early Years School should continue implementing the important initiatives of the Early Years School based on "creating a multicultural, multilingual, challenging and inspiring learning environment for children" and establish and develop a professional and high-quality teaching team. Adhering to the principle of "everything for the child", the school will further promote collaboration between the school and parents in all aspects and establish positive relationships, cultures and values to ensure that young children receive comprehensive support and development in their learning and growth process.

Fettes College Guangzhou Early Years School follows the framework of the British Early Childhood Education Curriculum (EYFS) foundation stage, integrates the advantages of the IBPYP curriculum, emphasizes that "play" is the most important means of children's inquiry learning, and inspires children to explore the world through play (contact two-way interaction). "When I first set foot in the school, I was attracted by the rich and diverse learning environment and outdoor facilities. Here, the children are fully engaged in learning and playing, while the teachers are there to observe and provide timely support and guidance to help each child realize their potential." Early Years School is no longer limited to developing specific knowledge and skills, such as numeracy or literacy. The teaching team is the soul of the school. The teaching team of Fettes College Guangzhou Early Years School comprises excellent teachers from all over the world who have excellent teacher quality and rich experience in preschool education. Katelyn Wu hopes to support this excellent team further to help teachers improve their professionalism and teaching standards. Each teacher plays the role of "stage supervisor, mediator, player, recorder, evaluator, communicator and planner" for children. Only when they can perform these roles well and become "expert teachers" can they create a supportive environment for young children to become sharp, efficient and energetic. Such an environment will lay a good foundation for the children's future learning. Katelyn Wu hopes to integrate Chinese and Western education through continuous exploration and practice to provide children with a richer learning experience and development opportunities.

To build an ideal educational community
