BKIK is an IB-authorized Chinese kindergarten with a global vision. It has always been keen on integrating charity with education, combining the welfare of children and promoting charity within the IB framework, and actively putting it into practice to cultivate love and a sense of social responsibility in children.

In IB education, one of the important goals emphasized is “Caring for Others”. Therefore, we actively organize various activities to encourage children to actively care for those in need and actively participate in community service.

Since its founding, BKIK has held charity drives and associated activities each and every year. The money raised each year serves an important purpose.

We have donated funds to build a library for Shuang Fei Yan Primary School in the Meixian district, given to local animal protection organizations and rescue centers, as well as donated the proceeds from our charity events to Yuexiu District Qizhi School as well as Tianhe District Welfare Center. In these acts, we at BKIK have shown dedication and love for reading, animals as well as special needs children.

As early as 1898, as the first internationally binding agreement on protecting children’s rights, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child clearly states: “In order to fully and harmoniously develop their personality, children should grow up in a family environment, in an atmosphere of happiness, love, and understanding.”

Orphans need the caring and nurturing of a family, and only when they understand love and receive love will they grow up to understand how to love others.

Last year, the funds raised by our kindergarten were used for the construction of the Xinhe Home Simulation Family at the Tianhe District Welfare Institute. It aimed to create a “home” for children who need special care.

Currently, there are a total of six loving families in the project, caring for a total of 24 children in a home-like environment. The children are mostly kindergarten, primary school, or middle school ages. Their hobbies include singing, dancing, sports, and learning. With the care and love of their foster parents, the hope is that they will strive to open up a new world and embrace a better sense of themselves.

目前，项目共有6户爱心家庭，共24名孩子进行居家养育，这些孩子的年龄大多处于在读幼儿园、小学或初中阶段，他们爱唱歌、爱跳舞、爱运动、爱学习，在家庭爱心父母的关爱下，他们更努力地去打开一个新的世界，拥抱更美好的自己。

The concept of a "simulated family", is a new foster care model established by welfare institutions in order to let orphans return to the community, recruit "parents" from society to form a new family, and finally give children the opportunity to live and study in the greater community with the hope of them fully integrating back into society In each simulated family, there will be four brothers and/or sisters who are not related by blood, plus two volunteer parents, about 50 or 60 years old, representing the third generation of the family, with the purpose to create a stable "home" for the children.

“模拟家庭”是福利院为了让院内智力正常的孤儿回归社区而建立的新寄养模式——向社会招聘“父母”组成新家庭，孩子们可以在普通社区中生活、读书，融入社会。

每一组模拟家庭的背后，会有四个并无血缘关系的兄弟姐妹及两个志愿父母。志愿父母大概五六十岁，家中已有第三代，而他们为了给孩子们造一个“家”，选择再当父母。

Through the activities conducted at our school, the children at BKIK have been introduced to the living and learning conditions of different groups through the introduction of teachers and parents, which helps cultivate their empathy and the ability to think independently and analyze, not to mention actively participate in community public welfare activities.

BKIK encourages children to connect the principle of caring with actions and community service. During the preparation for the upcoming charity sale, you will find parents and teachers guiding children to bring second-hand books, toys, or their own creations to school for sale.

In this process, children bravely take on the role of vendors, selling their goods, thereby building a sense of accomplishment and cultivating self-confidence. It also helps them learn and acquire knowledge and skills, improve communication, cooperation, and analytical problem-solving abilities.

With the development of modern society, people’s attention to students with special needs is increasing. In order to meet the educational needs of students with special needs, our winter charity sale will be held on December 16th this year. The funds raised will be used to establish a classroom dedicated to promoting psychological health and well-being to the students at Qizhi school.
