学校缘起

 Genesis of GIS

广州广外外籍人员子女学校是在大湾区和先行示范区双区驱动效应背景下兴办,经广州市教育局批准,由广东外语外贸大学指导创办的一所非营利性全日制、寄宿制、12年一贯制的新型国际学校。学校位于广州市白云区广花一路599号广州市实验外语学校(原广外附设外校)校址,设计规模为1800人。2022年秋季拟招收小学、初中学生入学,招生范围为港澳台及外籍人员子女。


Approved by the Guangzhou Municipal Education Bureau, GDUFS International School, Guangzhou (GIS) is a new type of non-profit boarding school with a 12-year curriculum founded under the guidance of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) in the context of the “Dual Zone” effect of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Shenzhen Pilot Demonstration Zone of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics. 


The school is located at No. 599, Guanghua Yilu Road, Baiyun District, Guangzhou, sharing its campus with Guangzhou Experimental Foreign Language School (the former English School Attached to Guangdong University of Foreign Studies) with a capacity of 1800 students. 


GIS is now accepting applications for the 2022-23 school year for all grades from G1 to G7. All children of foreign nationals and those of Hong Kong and Macao residents and Taiwan compatriots are welcome.

Small-sized class: The small-sized class ensures each student more attention and educational resources.

Representative works include Measuring Interlanguage Pragmatic Knowledge of EFL Learners (Peter Lang).

历任广东外语外贸大学英语教育学院教学部主任、国际项目中心主任。在SSCI国际期刊和CSSCI国内期刊发表多篇论文。主持和参与了多项省级科研教研项目。


多次参与国际高中,广外国际合作办学项目,主持国际教育研究项目,了解世界诸多顶尖名校的入学要求和偏好;积累了丰富的从小学到博士的国际教育经验,对国际教育的课程设置、团队建设、管理模式、 办学成绩等现状,以及面临的问题和挑战具有深入全面的了解。


She has served as Director of the Teaching Department and Director of the International Programs Centre at School of English Education, GDUFS. She has published in both SSCI and CSSCI journals and has hosted and participated in a number of provincial research and teaching projects.


Having participated in many international senior high school programs, international cooperative programs at GDUFS, and international education research projects, she has gained extensive experience in international education from primary school to PhD level. Therefore, she has a thorough understanding of both the entry requirements and preferences of many top universities worldwide and the current status of international education in terms of curriculum setting, team building, management model, school performance, as well as the issues and challenges faced.

历任广东外语外贸大学英文学院教师、院长助理、翻译系主任、英国西敏斯特大学访问学者、广外大云山青年学者、翻译学研究中心研究员、高级翻译学院教师、英国兰卡斯特大学访问学者,20多年英语及口笔译教学经验,有优秀的跨文化沟通能力。


主要研究兴趣为翻译史、戏剧翻译、翻译与跨文化传播;代表论著有《改译与中国现代话剧的形成》,论文曾发表于《暨南学报》、《新文学史料》等CSSCI权威学术期刊。


She has successively served as a teacher and researcher at Faculty of English Language and Culture, Center for Translation Studies, and School of Translation and Interpreting Studies, GDUFS. In addition, she has also held non-teaching positions such as Assistant to the Dean, Director of the Department of Translation and Interpreting, Visiting Scholar at the University of Westminster and Lancaster University, and Yunshan Young Scholar at GDUFS. With over twenty years of experience in teaching English Chinese translation and interpreting, she is an excellent intercultural communicator.


Her main research interests include translation history, drama translation, translation and intercultural communication. Representative works include Transadaptation and the Formation of Modern Chinese Drama. She has published in CSSCI journals such as Jinan Journal and Historical Studies

Teaching Staff


·20多名外籍教师,绝大多数持有美国、加拿大教师执教资格和A-Level课程教师资格;

Over 20 foreign teachers, most of whom hold US or Canadian teaching certificates and are qualified to teach A-Level courses.


The academic team formed by experts and professors from GDUFS, all holding PhD degrees with outstanding teaching and research capabilities and a wealth of research achievements, will provide strong academic support for GIS.  


With many years of teaching experience, all Chinese teachers, either holding the certificate of TESOL or being proficient in bilingual teaching of Chinese, Maths, Science and Chinese Culture, etc., are qualified to teach in GIS.     

课程设置

Curriculum

学校小学、初中阶段以国家课程为基础,以融合课程为主体,强化语言教育、STEAM教育,提升学生综合素质和国际人才素养。高中阶段主要基于国际课程体系A- Level/HKDSE/IBDP)的先进教学理论和方法。


The curricula of the Primary and the Junior High School of GIS are based on the Chinese National Curriculum, with an integrated curriculum strengthening language education and STEAM education to enhance students’ overall quality as an international talent. The curriculum at the Senior High School level is mainly based on the advanced theories and methods of teaching and learning of the International Curriculum, including A-Level, HKDSE, and IBDP.  


小学部:


小学部课程致力于培养全面发展、身心健康、拥有良好学习习惯的学生,鼓励学生在课堂内外成长为积极探究的学习者。课程设置借用国际文凭小学课程IBPYP的理念,整合国家基础课程、校本课程和国际课程。


小学部开设的课程包括语言必修(中文、英文)和二外选修课程(法、日、德、韩等其他语种,根据学习需求开设)、学科课程(数学、科学、音乐、美术、道德与法治、书法、心理健康、体育等)与活动课程(包含创意类、运动类、艺术类、服务类)。


Primary School


The Primary School curriculum is dedicated to developing well-rounded, physically and mentally healthy students with good study habits, encouraging students to grow as active and inquiring learners both inside and outside the classroom. Borrowing the concept of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IBPYP), the curriculum aims at integrating the Chinese National Curriculum, the School-based curriculum, and the International Curriculum.


The curriculum of the Primary School includes three kinds of courses: compulsory language courses (Chinese and English) and optional second foreign language courses (French, Japanese, German, Korean and other languages, depending on learning needs), subject courses (Mathematics, Science, Music, Art, Ethics and Rule of Law, Calligraphy, Mental health, Physical Education, etc.), and co-curriculum programs (including four main categories: creativity, sports, art, and service classes).


初中部:


初中部课程为中西融合式课程,培养为未来做好准备的学生。课程设置以国家课程的核心内容为基础,融入国际文凭中学课程 IBMYP和英联邦IGCSE的课程元素,采用模块化、主题式的教学方法,为学生打好坚实学科基础的同时,建立学科与世界的联系,探讨全球话题,拓宽学生的国际视野。


初中部开设的课程包括六大学科组必修课(语言学科、数学、科学、个体与社会、艺术、体育和健康教育)、三大类选修课(基础类、拓展类、兴趣类)和四大类活动课(创意类、运动类、艺术类、服务类)。


Junior High School

The Junior High School curriculum is an East-meets-West approach to developing students who are ready for the future. The curriculum is based on the core content of the Chinese National Curriculum and incorporates elements of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IBMYP) and the Cambridge International General Certificate of  Secondary Education (IGCSE). A modular, thematic approach is adopted to provide students with a solid foundation in the subject matter while establishing links between the subject and the world, exploring global topics and broadening students’ international perspective.


The curriculum of the Junior High School comprises six compulsory subject groups (Language Acquisition, Mathematics, Sciences, Individuals and Societies, Arts, Physical and Health Education), three categories of optional courses (foundation, extension, and interests), and four co-curriculum programs (creativity, sports, art, and service classes).


高中部:


高中部提供一流的全人教育,其核心是注重智力发展和学术精进的同时,鼓励每个人完成自我挑战,发展内在动力,成就自我,实现价值。


高中部课程设置灵活多样,学生可以通过A-Level和IBDP项目(视学生需求设置)申请世界名校,港澳台学生还可选择HKDSE课程,获得更加多元化的升学路径。HKDSE是目前全球唯一可用中文作答的国际考试,学习成绩可用于申请香港、海外、国内985/211等知名大学。


Senior High School


The Senior High School curriculum provides a first-class holistic education, the core of which focuses on intellectual development and academic refinement while encouraging each individual to accomplish self-challenge, develop intrinsic motivation, gain self-fulfillment, and realize expected values.


The curriculum of the Senior High School is quite flexible, with students applying to world-renowned universities through the A-Level and IBDP programs (depending on student needs), and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan can also choose the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) program for a more diversified pathway to higher education. The HKDSE is currently the only international exam in the world that can be answered in Chinese, and the results can be used to apply to either prestigious universities in Hong Kong and overseas or Project 985 and Project 211 universities in Mainland of China.

GDUFS International School, Guangzhou (GIS) is now accepting applications for the 2022-23 school year for all grades from G1 to G7. All children of foreign nationals and those of Hong Kong and Macao residents and Taiwan compatriots are welcome. As seats are limited and quickly fill up, we encourage those interested parents to apply as early as possible to secure places for their children.

入学评选

How to apply

入学评选采用“提交视频+个人简历”的方式进行,请有意向的家长按要求提交资料。

具体要求如下:

1. 视频时长:1—3分钟;

2. 视频语言:入读小学中英文不限;入读初中要求英文。

3. 视频内容:介绍自己和家庭;展示才艺;

4. 简历须提供“个人信息、父母情况、联系方式、综合能力实证、获奖图片附件等”信息

(报读初中的请在简历中附上五六年级成绩/等级单)


注:视频/简历命名:孩子姓名+报读年级
