Utahloy International School Zengcheng recently held a successful Week Without Walls event, which lasted for two to four days. The event was designed to provide primary and secondary students with a fantastic opportunity to explore the outdoors and engage in a range of exciting activities.




Highlights of our Primary Group

SUP Challenge: The students learned how to balance their bodies on the board and practice their skills in handling the paddle.

Tree Top Challenge: Protected by safety ropes and harnesses, the students had to conquer their fear of heights. Our students had to find the courage to step out of their relatively safe ground, to tackle the different obstacles ahead such as suspended wooden piles, until they were able to reach the other end of the structure. By challenging themselves, the students gained confidence and trust in themselves, which was instrumental in their personal growth.




Rock Climbing: Climbing is a great way for students to get to know their physical limitations and strengths. Being able to climb vertically up a wall or rockface requires students to demonstrate focus, agility, perseverance and determination to make it to the top. The purpose of climbing as an activity is for students to push themselves farther and harder than they have before to realize their potential and achieve things they otherwise thought weren’t possible.

Farm Work Experience: As our society becomes more commercialized and urbanized, students nowadays are both physically and mentally disconnected from the food they consume and the entire system behind it. Through a series of workshops and hands-on activities, students were able to discover different types of agricultural practices, the global food movement, and stories behind the food we consume every day. The program relies on various types of experiential education, cultivating environmental awareness and social responsibility, embedding the sustainable development goals of zero hunger.

Gaga Ball Match/Land Curling: games filled with pure fun were perfect for the last activities of a memorable trip.

Highlights of our Secondary Group

Cave Rappelling: This activity took place in a nearby cave where students were able to safely descend steep slopes with the use of ropes and harnesses. They learned about the geology of the cave and the importance of teamwork and trust.

Trekking: It is an activity that challenges both the body and the mind, requiring perseverance, determination, and stamina. Our senior students were able to participate in a trekking activity that took them through the beautiful karst landscape of Guangzhou.



Nighttime Exploration: A nocturnal trek through the wilderness gave students the opportunity to experience the beauty of nature under the stars and learn about the habits of nocturnal animals.

Via Ferrata: They were able to test their physical and mental limits, developing their balance, coordination, and endurance. This activity also helped students to build their confidence and trust in themselves and their team members. By pushing themselves to new heights, students were able to overcome challenges and develop resilience, a valuable skill for their future endeavors.





Roman Catapult: Students were able to experience this activity firsthand and learn about the design and function of Roman catapults.


Working in teams, the students were able to construct their own Roman catapults using materials such as


Tea Immersion Workshop: Our students had the opportunity to participate in this workshop and learn about the art of tea making.


The workshop was conducted by a tea master who guided students through the process of brewing tea and explained the various techniques involved. Students were able to sample different types of tea and learn about the unique flavors and aromas associated with each type.

Master Chef competition: students had the opportunity to participate in this competition and showcase their cooking skills

Students were able to challenge themselves both physically and mentally, while also learning about the environment, sustainability, and cultural significance of various activities. The event provided a unique opportunity for students to step outside of their comfort zones, develop new skills and interests, and grow both personally and academically.


Overall, the Week Without Walls event was a great example of the value of experiential learning and the importance of providing students with opportunities to engage with the world around them. It demonstrated the school's commitment to offering a holistic education that not only focuses on academic achievement but also on personal growth and development.

 农场体验:随着我们的社会变得更加商业化和城市化,现在的学生在身体上和精神上都与他们所消费的食物和其背后的整个系统脱节。


通过一系列的研讨会和实践活动,学生发现了不同类型的农业实践,全球食品运动,以及我们每天消费的食物背后的故事。该项目依靠各种类型的体验式教育,培养环境意识和社会责任,嵌入零饥饿的可持续发展目标。
