The spring starts again, and all things are fresh and new. Amidst the fragrance of flowers and books our Boya school ushered in the 2023 Open House Day (teaching). On the one hand, this open house day allows teachers to discuss and exchange education and teaching methods and experiences with other teachers, and on the other hand, it provides an opportunity for parents of existing students to enter the real classrooms and build a bridge of communication between parents and school.

For this day, teachers at Guangzhou Foreign Language School ISA Wenhua IB Diploma Programme carefully prepared a number of open classes, aiming to allow the guests to truly feel the charm of the IBDP courses.
For the same content, teachers at GZFLS ISA Wenhua IB Diploma Programme used different ways to teach and explain, which was lively and interesting, and at the same time focused on inquiry-based learning to inspire students to explore independently. For example, in the Chinese class, the students explored the familiar character of "Kong Yiji". Ms. Silvia, the Chinese teacher, expertly asked the students many questions and guided them to analyse “Kong Yiji” in all aspects such as his character profile, his personality traits, the mystery of his life and death, and the scenes of his appearance and departure etc., vividly presenting the "Kong Yiji" described by Lu Xun to the audience, and inspiring and guiding students on how to read, learn and analyse literary works.
Unique IB classes such as community project were also open to the audience on this day. Community project is a very meaningful class in the IB curriculum system with comprehensive inquiry and service activities and experiential learning. The themes are based on the students' personal interests from the bottom of their hearts, focusing on serving the community and exploring their rights and responsibilities as social citizens in the entire community. In this open class, there were topics such as "Caring for ADHD patients" and "Caring for hearing-impaired children". In the presentations of the students, we saw that each of their projects has gone through four stages: research, planning, action, and reflection. The strong research ability and teamwork of IB students amazed the teachers and parents in the audience.
The open classes on this day provided the audience real experience of the daily teaching and learning of the IBDP courses. They were appreciated by parents and teachers of other curriculum systems. For these teachers, the unique ATT and ATL of IB have given them new teaching ideas, allowing teachers of different curriculum systems to exchange ideas, learn from each other’s strengths, and jointly improve their teaching quality. For the parents of existing students, experiencing the IBDP classes in person and understanding their children's learning situation more realistically helped to dispel their doubts and form a joint force between parents and school in assisting the students to learn and grow.
