We are well aware that the students will face various challenges while transitioning to an international curriculum. To better assist them in the transition, and to fully prepare them for the new semester and future studies, GZFLS IB Diploma Programme will organize a summer Transition Camp from 1 August to 18 August at Guangzhou Foreign Language School.

Through concise and enriching courses, we will lead the new students into the world of IB, helping them explore knowledge, achieve personal growth, and become well-rounded individuals in an international atmosphere.
Objectives of the Transition Camp
To create an immersive English environment for the students to rapidly improve language skills and overcome language barriers.
To enhance the students' abilities in interdisciplinary thinking, project research, and problem-solving through multidimensional course design, multicultural perspectives and systemic training on thinking.
To help the students smoothly transition into the new learning environment and adapt to the IB classes.

Immersive English environment with targeted English courses to improve language proficiency
- English lectures, vocabulary learning, and daily English words tests to effectively expand the students’ vocabulary.
- Focused training in listening, speaking, reading, and writing to enhance the students’ language skills.
- English literature classes to allow the students to experience the cultural charm behind the language.
Introduction to IB inquiry-based and project-based learning methods, presenting the characteristics of various IB subjects
Under the guidance of subject teachers, the students will explore the charm of each IB subject, experience the unique IB class, and establish a solid foundation for future learning. They will say goodbye to rote learning and traditional exam-focused study methods. The IB's unique Approach to Learning (ATL) encourages students to actively explore, develop independent thinking, enhance learning enthusiasm, and fully exert subjective initiative and creativity.
Setting sail for world-class universities in college counselling classes
The coullege counselling teachers in GZFLS IB Dilopma Programme will provide comprehensive guidance from course selection to embarking on studying abroad, ensuring that students receive proper assistance throughout the entire process. In the transition camp, experienced college counsellors will introduce the students to overseas schools and college application systems, helping them explore their passions, set directions, and develop personalized long-term plans based on the personal interests and abilities of each student, and providing them abundant guidance and advice for academic and career development.
Outdoor camp courses to cultivate holistic qualities and strengthen bonds between students
In addition to academic education, based on the physical and mental development characteristics of teenagers, this year's transition camp will continue to organize outdoor camp courses, including high-altitude rope challenges, team-building activities, wilderness survival lessons, water rafting, kayaking, and more. These activities will cultivate the students' spirit of exploration, courage, independence, solidarity, and awareness of nature, enhancing their self-awareness, social awareness, and environmental awareness.
Exploration day of international perspectives and international understanding
The students will explore international perspectives and international understanding.
The students will participate in science and technology lectures and experience related activities during their visit.
The Innovation Centre focuses on six theme workshops to connect with the best STEM courses and product providers in the industry at home and abroad, and conducts cooperation and curriculum customization research and development on the basis of the six workshops. Our International Education Group hopes to use this innovation centre to build a STEM curriculum that is leading in domestic K12 schools and owns the intellectual property rights of some of the courses, which will better meet the growth needs of the students and provide each student with a customized timetable. It will further evolve into a complete science and technology education ecosystem that will serve its own students and students from the surrounding communities and South China.

Internet, IoT and AI technologies will be fully promoted and applied. During the day, they could also experience various courses such as rock climbing, golf, fencing, baseball, swimming, painting, and classical music appreciation.
Exploration day of international multicultural integration and Lingnan culture
In the third week, the students will experience an international multicultural environment and explore Lingnan culture.
During the visit, the students will experience English drama classes and could choose courses with Lingnan characteristics, such as Cantonese opera, lion dance, martial arts, tai chi, embroidery, paper cutting, and more, experiencing the unique charm of Lingnan culture.

This transition camp will integrate the skills on thinking, social, communication, research, and self-management in the learning and daily life, guiding the students to become proactive learners and enhancing their initiative. We believe that the diverse courses will not only lay a solid foundation for the students to enter the IB programme, but also provide them with a diverse cultural experience, broaden their international perspectives, strengthen their understanding of multiculturalism, and enhance their cross-cultural communication and learning abilities, laying the foundation for cultivating patriotic and innovative talents with an international vision.
