Happy Mid-Autumn Festival


Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival or the Reunion Festival, is a traditional festival in China. Mid-Autumn Festival originated from the worship of the moon. Since ancient times, Mid-Autumn Festival has been characterised by folk customs such as offering sacrifices to the moon, viewing the moon, eating mooncakes, watching lanterns, enjoying osmanthus flowers and drinking osmanthus wine, which have been passed down to the present day.

中秋节,又称月亮节、团圆节等,是中国民间传统节日。中秋节源自对天象的崇拜,由上古时代秋夕祭月演变而来。中秋节自古便有祭月、赏月、吃月饼、看花灯、赏桂花、饮桂花酒等民俗,流传至今,经久不息。

ISA is always passionate about fostering students' understanding of Chinese language and culture. We believe that for Chinese students, a deep understanding of their own language and culture brings a sense of identity and belonging. Therefore, learning Chinese language and culture is an essential part of inheriting Chinese essence for Chinese students. For international students, mastering proficient Chinese expression and writing not only makes their life in China easier and more convenient but also helps them learn more about the essence of Chinese culture. 

一直以来,爱莎都十分重视对学生中国语言文化的培养,我们认为,对于中国学生来说,深谙自己的语言和文化,能带来认同感和归属感,故学习中国语言文化是传承中华优秀文化必不可少的一环;而对于外籍学生来说,掌握优秀的中文表达和写作不仅能够让学生们在中国的生活更加轻松便利,更是了解中国文化、理解中华文化精髓的有利辅助。


ISA fosters a multicultural campus environment that facilitates cross-cultural exchange between East and West. Our Chinese language courses, teaching methods, learning resources, and campus activities enable students to acquire listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Chinese, as well as immerse themselves in Chinese culture. These approaches help students become culturally versatile, well-rounded individuals ready for the challenges of the future.

爱莎为来自众多国家的学生提供多国文化融合的校园环境和中西文化交流社区,在中文课程、教学模式、学习资源、校园活动等方面的设置让学生充分掌握中文的听说读写技能,深入体验和了解中华文化,兼容中西、均衡发展,成长为面向未来的跨文化高端人才。

Unique Chinese Language Programme 

独树一帜的中文课程

The Chinese language programme is a compulsory course at ISA. Students begin to study Chinese language and culture from the early years. The programme combines the Chinese National Curriculum with the IB Framework. 

中文课程是爱莎学校的必修课,学生从幼儿园阶段开始接受中国语言文化教育。爱莎的中文课程融合了中国国家义务教育阶段的语文课程与国际文凭教育项目(IB)两种体系。


Chinese teaching takes root in the traditional Chinese culture. We encourage extensive reading both inside and outside of the classroom. We believe that reading helps students to quickly immerse themselves in traditional culture and form a sense of identity and belonging. Chinese teaching also integrates the inquiry-based learning method of IB framework, which helps students understand the essence behind Chinese literary works through inquiry learning.

一方面,中文教学植根于博大精深的中国语言文化,通过课内外海量阅读,让学生迅速走进中国传统文化的轨道,汲取民族文化的营养,形成对中华民族与文化的认同感和归属感;另一方面,中文教学又融入IB教育注重探究体验的学习方式,不只局限于文字本身,还培养学生通过自主与合作探究学习的形式,了解文学作品背后蕴含的观点与文化。

Differentiated Chinese Teaching

差异化中文教学

ISA's Chinese language programme follows the principle of differentiated teaching. According to students' language background, the school provides Mother Tongue Chinese and Non-mother Tongue Chinese Programmes with differentiated teaching for students to meet their learning needs. We use Chinese textbooks published by the People’s Education Press (PEP), closely following the teaching contents of the local public schools. Our non-mother tongue Chinese programme adopts teaching materials especially designed for foreigners to ensure that children from different countries and regions can also experience the fascinating Chinese culture through studying the language.

爱莎中文教学遵循差异化教学的原则。根据学生母语背景的不同,学校开设母语班和非母语班,对不同背景的学生展开分层教学,实施因材施教,满足不同背景的学生学习和成长的需求。母语班沿用人教版的语文教材,紧密地与本地公办学校的中文教学内容相联系,夯基固本。非母语班则采用对外汉语的相应教材,使不同国家和地区的孩子能随着中文的学习,感受中国文化的魅力。

The ISA Chinese language programme is taught in collaboration with the homeroom teachers. The topics selected in the Chinese course are consistent with the topics under investigation in the homeroom Unit of Inquiry (UOI) where possible. This ensures that students not only complete the Chinese subject tasks, but also develop a deeper understanding of the topic they are exploring in the UOI. In this way, students engage in transdisciplinary, inquiry learning. In accordance with students’ developmental needs and their personal academic interests, ISA offers compulsory courses, elective courses and Chinese culture clubs, providing students with many fun opportunities to learn Chinese.

爱莎中文教学还遵循与主班基本协调同步的原则。中文课主题尽量与主班学习主题贴合,使得学生在完成中文科目学习任务目标的同时,也能联系学习主题,促进跨学科思考、探究能力的培养。同时,根据学生兴趣的差异,学校开设中文必修课、选修课和中国文化俱乐部,推动学生将兴趣和学习相结合,寓教于乐。

Abundant Chinese Learning Resources

丰富的中文学习资源

The ISA Chinese language programme goes beyond the classroom. Through rich and engaging inquiry-based learning methods such as learning exhibitions, inquiry learning, and campus activities, students have the opportunity to learn Chinese through hands-on experiences and understand Chinese culture. Apart from that, various Chinese language competitions offer ISA students stages to show their talents.

爱莎的中文教学不仅在课堂之上展开,在课堂之外,通过成果展示、主题探究、校园活动等丰富而有趣的探究式学习模式,让学生能够以亲身实践的方式来学习中文,并感受其中源远流长的中国文化。同时,多样的中文竞赛也给爱莎学子提供了展示自己的舞台。




ISA organises learning exhibitions of Chinese traditional culture every semester, where students collaborate in groups to design their works and display boards based on a specific theme. They showcase their discoveries, thoughts, and understanding of Chinese traditional culture to the entire school community. Students also engage in discussions with fellow students and teachers who visit the exhibition. This encourages students to become actively engaged in learning about Chinese language and culture.

每学期学校都会举办阶段性的中国传统文化探究成果展,学生们通过小组合作,根据主题精心设计作品和展板,将自己对中国传统文化的发现、思考和理解展示给全校师生,并向来参观的同学和老师演示、交流探究的过程和成果,引导学生在中文学习上养成主动学习的好习惯。

ISA also organises a series of themed events combined with traditional Chinese festivals such as Mid-Autumn Festival, Spring Festival and Dragon Boat Festival. These events are designed to deepen students' specific understanding of Chinese culture through thematic exploration. Both Chinese and international students participate in these activities. Students dress in traditional Chinese clothing, engage in games that integrate with festival customs and perform Chinese stage shows, exploring Chinese traditional culture through firsthand experiences.

学校结合中华民族传统节日,开展以中秋节、春节、端午节等系列主题活动,旨在让学生通过主题探究学习加深对中华文化的具体认知,沉浸式感受中华文化的魅力。中外学生都在活动中身着中国传统服饰,在充满华夏风情装饰的校园中参加与节日习俗相结合的游戏,进行中文舞台汇演,在亲身体验中探究中国传统文化。

ISA also integrates the teaching of Chinese traditional culture within campus life through events such as the Chinese Drama Festival and the ISA Festival. These events provide students with a stage to showcase their talents. Under the guidance of teachers, students transform their knowledge of Chinese literature into performances, including dramas, recitations, singing, and dancing. This further enhances students' enthusiasm for learning Chinese.

在爱莎,学校还将中国传统文化教学与学习与校园生活相结合,如举行中文戏剧节、爱莎日等大型校园庆典,给予学生一个展示的舞台,在老师的引导下,把所学的中文文学知识转换,以戏剧、朗诵、歌舞等形式进行表演,进一步提升学生对中文的学习热情。

In addition to these activities, ISA regularly organises a wide variety of Chinese language competitions for students. These competitions not only help students enhance their academic abilities but also encourages them to explore the Chinese language and express themselves using it. Thanks to ISA's Chinese language programme, both Chinese and international students in ISA not only acquire proficient Chinese language skills but also gain a deeper understanding of Chinese traditional culture. Many ISA students have achieved excellent results in various competitions, while showcasing their outstanding Chinese language skills.

除此之外,爱莎也定期组织学生开展、参加多彩多样的中文竞赛,帮助学生同步增强学术能力,也拓展对中文的探索与表达。得益于爱莎专业的中文教学,爱莎中外学子不仅习得熟练的中文能力,也对中华传统文化有了更加深刻的理解,在各类赛事中取得了优异的成绩,显示出爱莎学子优秀的中文学术、语言表达、写作能力。
