The integration of PE and curriculum is a crucial step to stay connected with global education. Sports activity will grant students the vitality of ‘fortitude, seriousness and perseverance’. Students will not only win prizes, they would also gain experience and vision.
In order to achieve that, ASJ will take full advantage of it’s fifteen-year continuous syllabus, implementing the ‘sports rising star garden’ philosophy by conducting game based physical education activities according to the recommendation from international teaching professionals in the preschool period; by exposing students to different sport programs in the primary years; by cultivating specialized athletic skills in the junior high school years.
On 25th November, the 16th "Mayor's Cup" Hong Kong Jockey Club Badminton Competition was officially kicked off at Guangzhou 18th High School.
ASJ badminton team members responded positively and played in the tournament covering primary, junior high and senior high school divs, and the tournament included individual and team competitions. Through the hard work of the students, the tournament achieved the sixth place in the junior high school team. Among them, G9 Mak won the fifth place in the junior high school individual event.

Guangzhou "Mayor's Cup" Badminton Competition was founded in 2007, which is one of the earliest sports brand events of Guangzhou "Mayor's Cup" series of competitions, opening a new chapter of the city's badminton enthusiasts to enjoy fitness and compete on the same stage. The badminton team formed by ECA (Extracurricular Classes) participated in this competition as a representative. On the court, students showed their skills and strength with full passion and fighting spirit.
Walking into the court, the sound of racket swinging, the sound of badminton flying and the shouts of the students were endless. Students in the court running fast, flexible dodge the opponent's attack, but also try to find the cracks, counterattack. The atmosphere on the court was tense and exciting, teachers and students cheered for the game, and every round of the competition was fascinating.ASJ badminton team players showed their competitive level.
The athletes on the court were passionate, and the teachers and students under the court were equally enthusiastic. At the end of the match, the players shook hands and hugged each other to show their respect and gratitude to their opponents, which demonstrated the spirit and significance of badminton matches.
The successful conclusion of this badminton tournament not only allowed the various participating athletes of the ASJ Badminton Varsity Team to spar with more masters and learn about the characteristics and techniques of badminton, but also inspired the love and pursuit of sportsmanship and a healthy life.
This Mayor's Cup competition, through the joint efforts of the school, coaches and students, ASJ varsity badminton team has achieved good results, I believe that there will always be a different harvest, and strive for better results in the next competition. Last weekend, I participated in the Mayor's Cup badminton tournament in Tianhe District. After a day's hard work, I won the fifth place.
In this badminton tournament, I met and sparred with many masters. Thanks to this, my skills have improved, and I have made friends with many great players. Through this competition, I felt the charm of competitive sports, watching the athletes on the field of sweat, I love this sport more and more in my heart.
I am honoured to participate in this competition and I am grateful to the school for giving me this opportunity to grow up a lot. I will train harder and try to bring more brilliant results for my school.
