Recently, Mr. Herb Wang, Board Member of ISA International Education Group (ISAIEG), and Mr. Qi Zhu of Chief Headmaster of ISA Liwan School led a delegation to visit the Peking University Examination Research Institute and held a working seminar, aiming to deepen cooperation with this world-class institution and jointly promote innovation and development in the field of education. Dr. Qin Chunhua, Director of the Peking University Examination Research Institute, Dr. Li Jingchen, Head of Formative Assessment Project at the Institute, and Dr. Xu Jian, an expert in formative assessment at the Institute, participated in the seminar.
The ISA team was warmly received by Director Qin Chunhua and expert team of the Peking University Examination Research Institute. During the seminar, the Institute's experts provided a detailed introduction to the four major areas of future cooperation, covering aspects such as teacher training, development of teaching resource libraries, career planning for students, and talent development. In particular, the discussion emphasized the importance of formative assessment-based teacher training to enhance educators' teaching abilities and bring about a new understanding of educational philosophy, highlighting the significance of lifelong learning and the design of more diverse learning tasks to support students' development of imagination and innovation. The construction of school-based teaching resource libraries aims to provide teachers and students with richer and more diverse learning resources, leading the way in education for the new era.
In terms of career planning and talent development, both parties stressed the importance of subject reading and proposed the construction of teaching and learning resource libraries, which would contribute to improving students' subject literacy and reading abilities, laying a solid foundation for their future development. Additionally, the discussion focused on the importance of career planning for students in CNC directions, suggesting the establishment of a school-based career guidance system to help students better understand their interests and strengths and plan for their future learning and career development.
Regarding the cultivation of top talents and university preparatory courses, the experts from the Peking University Examination Research Institute introduced the core concepts and implementation strategies of the top talent cultivation plan. They pointed out that cultivating top talents is a long-term and systematic process, requiring the establishment of subject foundations and the cultivation of interests from the early stages. This necessitates forward-thinking educational concepts and concrete curriculum settings and educational methods. To this end, the Peking University Examination Research Institute has proposed a series of suggestions focusing on students' interests and specialties to ensure that they enjoy the learning process while also laying a solid foundation for their future academic or career paths.
Mr. Herb Wang expressed that the cultivation of top talents requires joint efforts from educational institutions and parents, and ISA will strive to provide students with higher-quality educational resources and environments to help them realize their potential and dreams.
The seminar also discussed how to implement teacher training and personalized guidance more effectively, emphasizing the importance of framework-based training implementation and pilot training. The participants engaged in an in-depth discussion on how to apply training to the classroom and how to enhance teachers' teaching abilities through educational research covering basic educational content. Experts at the seminar pointed out that teacher training should not only be superficial but also be implemented based on well-defined frameworks. This framework should cover various aspects such as teaching content, teaching methods, and personalized student needs, ensuring that each teacher receives comprehensive and systematic training.
Principal Zhu Qi expressed that pilot training is considered crucial to improving teachers' overall level, as it can guide teachers to quickly adapt to new teaching concepts and methods. Teachers should possess innovative consciousness and spirit, constantly exploring new teaching methods and means. At the same time, schools should also pay attention to teachers' individual needs and development, such as professional title evaluation and research project application, providing teachers with more opportunities and space for growth.
The seminar also discussed topics such as establishing a comprehensive and decentralized education system, incentive-based assessment, and international curriculum evaluation, as well as the challenges and countermeasures of curriculum system construction.
This visit marks an important step in deepening cooperation between ISA International Education Group and the Peking University Examination Research Institute. Through discussions and exchanges, both parties not only enhanced mutual understanding and trust but also laid a solid foundation for future cooperation. Looking ahead, ISAIEG and the Institute are poised to engage in more extensive and in-depth collaboration in the education field, jointly promoting the prosperity and development of their respective educational endeavors.
