6月5日，AIC第二届中文阅读擂台赛—BOB在剧院如期举行！此次阅读擂台赛是对参赛者阅读质量和理解能力的深度检验，是激发学生们对阅读热爱的重要舞台。本次活动由AIC中文组的Caroline、Julianne、Jane以及图书管理老师Wendy携手策划与组织，他们的辛勤付出确保了比赛的顺利进行。

On 5th June, AIC2nd Chinese Battle of Books – BOB, took place in the theatre. This contest is a rigorous examination of the participants' reading quality and comprehension skills, and serves as a vital platform to ignite students' passion for reading. The event was expertly planned and organised by Caroline, Julianne, and Jane from the AIC Chinese Department, in collaboration with the librarian Wendy. Their hard work and dedication ensured the smooth and successful running of the competition.

中文阅读擂台赛——BOB，其意义深远而重大。通过深入阅读经典和译作，学生们在理解、分析和欣赏文学作品的能力上取得了显著的进步。参赛选手们以团体或个人的形式投身比赛，不仅充分展现了他们的个人才华与实力，更在合作与竞争中体现了团队协作的不可或缺性。

多样化的书籍选择和比赛形式极大地激发了学生们对阅读的热情，使他们更加积极地参与其中。更重要的是，通过阅读来自不同国家和地区的文学作品，学生们得以跨越文化的界限，拓宽了视野，深化了对多元文化的理解和尊重。这次比赛不仅是一场知识的竞赛，更是一次心灵的洗礼和文化的交流。

BOB is a significant and impactful event. Through in-depth reading of classics and translations, students have made notable progress in their ability to understand, analyze, and appreciate literary works. Participants, whether competing in teams or individually, not only showcase their personal talents and strengths but also highlight the importance of teamwork and collaboration in both competitive and cooperative settings.

The diverse selection of books and varied competition formats have greatly fueled students' enthusiasm for reading, encouraging them to engage more actively. More importantly, by reading literary works from different countries and regions, students have the opportunity to transcend cultural boundaries, broaden their perspectives, and deepen their understanding and respect for diverse cultures. This competition is not merely a test of knowledge but also a profound journey of the mind and a cultural exchange.

本届阅读擂台赛分为Foundation组和IG1组，由语文科组和图书馆老师组成的组委会结合课内教学和学生特点，精心挑选比赛书籍。Foundation组别的书单包括老舍的《骆驼祥子》、伍绮诗的《无声告白》、若泽·毛罗·德瓦斯康塞洛斯的《我亲爱的甜橙树》和路遥的《平凡的世界》。IG1组别的书单则包括余华的《第七天》和黑石一雄的《莫失莫忘》。这些风格多样的书籍极大地激发了同学们的阅读和参赛热情。

This year's BOB is divided into the Foundation group and the IG1 group. The organizing committee, composed of Chinese language teachers and librarians, carefully selected the competition books based on class teaching and the characteristics of the students. The book list for the Foundation group includes "Rickshaw Boy" by Lao She, "Everything I Never Told You" by Celeste Ng, "My Sweet Orange Tree" by José Mauro de Vasconcelos, and "Ordinary World" by Lu Yao. The IG1 group's book list features "The Seventh Day" by Yu Hua and "Never Let Me Go" by Kazuo Ishiguro. These diverse books have greatly fueled the students' enthusiasm for reading and participation in the competition.

比赛当天，现场气氛既紧张又有条不紊。参赛选手们有的在赛前摩拳擦掌，抓紧准备，有的围成一圈商议策略和分工。在必答和抢答环节中，选手们展现了他们对细节理解、文章分析和文学常识的深厚功底。最终，比赛在热烈的掌声中圆满落下帷幕，并根据个人或团体的最终得分评定奖项。

On the BOB day, the atmosphere was both tense and orderly. Some participants were eagerly preparing and reviewing their notes, while others gathered in circles to discuss strategies and assign tasks. During the mandatory and quick-response segments, the contestants demonstrated their deep understanding of details, analytical skills, and literary knowledge. The competition concluded successfully amid enthusiastic applause, with awards given based on the final scores of individuals or teams.
