We place a high value on nurturing students' mathematical potential. We hire professional math coaches for students in the Mathematics Talent Program, offering systematic competition training to enhance their mathematical knowledge base, thinking, and application abilities.

Students have consistently excelled in various international math competitions, a testament to the tiered instruction model's effectiveness in fully tapping and cultivating students' academic potential.

Chinese Talent: Eloquence and Debate Shine

In the Chinese Talent Program, students are grouped based on their literary foundation and writing abilities, receiving targeted guidance and training.

In international competitions, such as the International Youth Chinese Writing Competition and the "Zongheng Cup" International School Chinese Debate Competition, students have achieved outstanding results with their impressive creativity and writing skills.

Science Talent: Exploring Future Possibilities

Imagining cities a hundred years from now, with technological power, humanistic care, and creative design, students experience the power of science through creation.

In the Science Talent Program, we engage students in the "Future City" project, where they work in teams to design future smart cities. This requires mastering basic scientific knowledge and integrating interdisciplinary knowledge and innovative thinking. Such practical projects enhance teamwork, innovation, and problem-solving abilities, laying a solid foundation for future development and better adapting to the demands of the future society in a global context.

At ISA Liwan, every student is paired with a dedicated academic advisor who accompanies them throughout their academic journey. Our mentor team consists of experienced teachers and researchers who possess not only rich professional knowledge but also excellent teaching and communication skills.

Advisors provide academic guidance and support while also paying attention to students' emotional, psychological, and life development. Through weekly one-on-one meetings, mentors gain in-depth understanding of students' dynamics and needs, offering timely and effective help and advice.

Ms. Ivy, one of the academic advisors, deeply understands the importance of personalized teaching. She states, " In my heart, each of students is the same, yet different. They share the same sincerity, honesty, and kindness. They are equally curious and unafraid to ask questions and determined to overcome difficulties. Yet, each student has their distinctive traits."

Based on this understanding, Ms. Ivy and her team focus on discovering and cultivating students' individual characteristics and strengths, stimulating their learning interest and motivation. Ms. Harper demonstrates high professional competence and caring encouragement in guiding students. She frankly admits to always "encouraging them to maintain their serious approach to learning, to embrace new challenges with an open mind, and to always strive for excellence."

ISA Liwan International Middle School is students-centered as core concept and cultivate students from academics and learning capability. The MYP curriculum framework comprises eight subject groups, providing a broad and balanced education for early adolescents. 

The MYP requires at least 50 hours of teaching time for each subject group, in each year of the programme. The programme empowers students to inquire into a wide range of issues and ideas of significance locally, nationally and globally. The result is young people who are creative, critical and reflective thinkers. It lays a foundation for more in-depth academic exploration in high school.

In terms of learning ability, we should pay attention to students’ learning interests and abilities, demonstrate and teach them effective learning methods, and connect the learning process with real life to help students discover and discover the close relationship between learning and life, so as to stimulate students’ internal driving force for independent exploration and learning. Whether it is academic accumulation or learning ability cultivation, the high quality team of teachers will do their best to guide and assist students in learning.

Built upon the solid and comprehensive foundation of

IB MYP, ISA Liwan develops an integrated curriculum framework, taking into account the needs of adolescent students’ wellbeing and importance for individuals to build cultural identity. The structure aims to help students to form a system to organise their knowledge, which sets a solid foundation for high school study.

ISA Liwan International Middle School takes the MYP as the framework, the Cambridge as the pathway, the national compulsory education curriculum (Regarding Wenhua Curriculum) as the core, integrating the UK standards (Regarding IS Curriculum) as well as Singapore standards, to provide students a comprehensive knowledge structure and goal for development. We require students to act on four dimensions including practice, inquiry, experiment and reflection, so that they can foster a selfdeveloped guidance during learnings.

The curriculum system in our school is developed based on the characteristics of students in puberty, helping them to construct a basic understanding of the relation between individuals and society from values, reality and learning strategies.
