从中国香港到深圳再到广州,从香港教育局课程主任到香港考试评核局顾问再到学校校长,近四十年来,陈兆铿校长成功推动粤港澳大湾区多个DSE教育项目落地和办学,引领诸多学生踏入海内外名校,但他对教育事业的热情却始终未曾减退:“教育本质是唤醒每个人的内在潜能实现个人价值的最大化”。

Talking about education, Principal Philip Siu-hang Chan candidly stated, "Society needs to cultivate individuals who can exert a positive influence. I am very honored to join ISA Liwan and work with teachers and students to envision a promising future for the HKDSE (Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination) curriculum."


From Hong Kong to Shenzhen and then to Guangzhou, Principal Chan has dedicated nearly four decades to education, transitioning from the Curriculum Director of the Hong Kong Education Bureau to the Consultant of the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority, and finally becoming a school principal. He has successfully established various DSE education projects in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, guiding many students to prestigious universities both domestically and internationally. But his passion for education has never waned: "Education, at its core, is about awakening each person's inner potential and maximizing individual value."


Education, this profound and grand endeavor, has been Principal Chan's lifelong dedication. Despite his extensive experience, he continues to maintain a passion for exploring professional knowledge.

陈校表示,在粤港澳大湾区开设优质的HKDSE课程,既需要精准把握课程的教学精髓,又需要充分运用粤港澳大湾区环境来发挥学生的特点优势,那么课程体系的完整性和前瞻性就显得尤为重要。一个好的课程体系必须满足现代社会的需求具备高水平的学术价值并得到学生和家长的认可


爱莎荔湾HKDSE课程主张以英文为重点的多学科均衡发展,在名师特教的指导下,在高一或衔接班阶段开始,从学生基础入手,构建系统的知识学习体系,强调掌握时间和解题技巧;高二阶段则着重培养学生能够熟练运用所学概念去有效解题。此外,课程还引入雅思考试,与英文学科相辅相成,以评估学生的学习进度和进步。




陈校相信未来社会所需的国际化人才需要具备包括语言、逻辑、反思、沟通等方方面面的能力。而学校需要做的,就是用适当的方法去培养和发展这些能力让每个学生的未来都能得以闪光


除了设立满足学生对HKDSE考试学习需求的基础课程外,爱莎荔湾还开设了多种多样的学科探究课程和多元活动课程,来培养学习能力、提升综合素质、并拓宽国际化视野。

Principal Chan stated that establishing a quality HKDSE program in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area requires not only a precise grasp of the curriculum's essence but also the ability to leverage the local environment to enhance students' strengths. Thus, a comprehensive and forward-thinking curriculum is crucial. A good curriculum system must meet the needs of modern society, possess high academic value, and be recognized by students and parents.

 

ISA Liwan's HKDSE program emphasizes balanced development across multiple disciplines with a focus on English. Under the guidance of renowned teachers, the program begins with foundational knowledge in the first year or preparatory class, building a systematic knowledge framework and emphasizing time management and problem-solving techniques. The second year focuses on enabling students to apply learned concepts effectively. Additionally, the curriculum incorporates IELTS exams, complementing English subjects to assess students' progress and improvement.




Principal Chan believes that future international talents need to possess various skills, including language proficiency, logical thinking, reflection, and communication. Schools should nurture and develop these abilities using appropriate methods, ensuring that every student's future can shine.


Beyond providing basic courses to meet students' HKDSE exam needs, ISA Liwan offers various subject exploration courses and diverse activities to develop learning skills, enhance comprehensive quality, and broaden international perspectives. 




Principal Chan plans to introduce English debate and current affairs observation courses from the next semester because "students need to learn to express themselves and empathize with others to develop friendly interpersonal and social skills."

根据公开资料显示,着眼于粤港澳大湾区建设,加大教育对外开放力度,努力构建“公平卓越、活力创新、开放包容”的教育体系,为培育提升教育科技文化中心功能,打造教育和人才高地,推动粤港澳大湾区发展,提供有力支撑。根据香港考试及评核局公布的数据,目前共有超过600间海外院校认可HKDSE文凭试资历,包括剑桥、耶鲁等在内的国际大学。并且2024/25学年参与的内地高等院校将增加至138所。此外,HKDSE文凭试亦获澳门特别行政区的高等院校认可为入学要求。

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is witnessing a surge in educational openness, striving to build an "equitable, excellent, dynamic, innovative, open, and inclusive" educational system. This aims to enhance the role of education in developing technological and cultural centers, creating a high ground for education and talent, and providing strong support for the development of the Greater Bay Area. 


The HKDSE curriculum, which integrates international educational concepts, has been widely recognized by 600 international universities, including Cambridge and Yale, as well as 138 domestic Double First-Class universities. In addition, the HKDSE is also recognized as an admission requirement by higher education institutions in the Macau Special Administrative Region.



Principal Chan has an in-depth understanding of the higher education landscape in the Greater Bay Area and unique insights into students' pathways to higher education. During his tenure as a school principal in Hong Kong, he actively encouraged Hong Kong students to step out of their comfort zones and pursue higher education at top universities in the Mainland of China.


Such forward-thinking not only reflects in planning diverse pathways for students' higher education but also in actively building solid bridges for educational exchange between Guangzhou and Hong Kong.



The HKDSE curriculum emphasizes the development of students' comprehensive literacy and critical thinking skills. Therefore, our teaching team must not only have solid subject knowledge but also guide students to think independently and solve problems.


ISA Liwan has established a friendly partnership with Hong Kong G.T (Ellen Yeung) College, one of the top ten IB schools globally with outstanding DSE academic performance, and signed a sister school agreement. 陈校直言,教育创新是推动教育发展的关键动力。传统“老师讲学生听”的教育模式已经无法满足当代国际化人才的培养需求。因此,需要通过创新来改进教育方法提升教育质量以适应新时代的要求


教师应该从传统的知识传授者转变为学生学习路上的引导者和伙伴,需要教师不断更新自己的知识和技能;同时,陈校也看到了互联网技术对教育带来的深刻影响,并认为应该充分利用现代技术推动教育创新。


例如,利用人工智能、大数据等工具来个性化地辅导学生,提升教学效率。



优质课程和全人教育理念落地的主阵地虽然是课堂,但是要把学科知识放到生活情境中组织教学,这样一来,学习过程的质量才能有保证,学习方式也更容易被学生接受和喜爱。

Principal Chan emphasized that educational innovation is the key driver of educational development. The traditional "teacher lectures, students listen" model can no longer meet the needs of cultivating contemporary international talents. Therefore, innovative approaches are essential to improve teaching methods and quality to meet the demands of the new era.


Teachers should transition from traditional knowledge transmitters to guides and partners on students' learning journeys, continuously updating their knowledge and skills. At the same time, Principal Chan acknowledges the profound impact of internet technology on education and believes that modern technology should be fully utilized to drive educational innovation. 


For example, using artificial intelligence and big data tools to personalize student guidance and enhance teaching efficiency.



The main battleground for implementing quality curricula and the holistic education concept is the classroom. However, to ensure the quality of the learning process and make the learning method more acceptable and enjoyable for students, subject knowledge should be taught within the context of real-life situations.

未来社会所需的国际化人才应该是什么样子?陈兆铿校长认为,至少需要熟悉自己的文化、掌握世界通行语言、具备反思的能力,以及与人沟通、相处的能力。他期待学生们能够明辨是非,立足世界,不仅要在学术上取得优异成绩,更要发掘自己的专长和兴趣,成为多元化的人才,为社会的进步贡献力量。


同时,陈校长也期望爱莎荔湾能够成为学生实现个人才华全面发展的平台,让每一个学生都能在这里找到自己的理想,并为之努力奋斗。


他深信,每个学生都有无限的潜能和可能性带着探究精神怀抱获得成就的信念践行起来成为未来世界的探索者和创新者

What should future international talents look like? Principal Chan believes that they should, at the very least, be familiar with their own culture, master a globally accepted language, possess reflective abilities, and have communication and interpersonal skills. He hopes students can distinguish right from wrong, stand firm in the world, not only achieve excellent academic results but also discover their strengths and interests, becoming versatile talents who contribute to social progress.

 

Simultaneously, Principal Chan hopes ISA Liwan can become a platform for students to fully realize their personal talents, allowing each student to find their dreams here and strive towards them. 


He firmly believes that every student has infinite potential and possibilities. By fostering a spirit of inquiry, a belief in achieving success, and a commitment to action, ISA Liwan empowers students to become explorers and innovators who shape the future.

Under the guidance of the Guangzhou Education Bureau, Guangzhou Foreign Language School and ISA International Education Group signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement in 2021. This partnership entails extensive collaboration in curriculum, faculty, educational research, and management, fostering mutual learning and innovation. In 2023, 34 first ISA graduates received 252 admissions from prestigious universities around the world, including the UK, Hong Kong, the US, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Singapore, and others, with a total of approximately 1.52 million US dollars in scholarships. 30% of students were admitted to the top 30 global universities in QS rankings, and 100% of students were admitted to the top 100 universities or top 100 majors in QS rankings.

As of 20 June, 2024, 62 prospective graduates in 2024 have received: A total of 545 offers from countries and regions including the UK, the USA, China (Mainland & HK), Canada, Australia, with a total scholarship of approximately 4.83 million US dollars.


Highlights of ISAIEG Student Offers in 2024:

- 66% of students have received offers to QS Top 20 universities, and 88% of students have received offers to QS Top 50 universities;

- According to available data, ISA has the distinction of being one of the seven schools in Guangzhou to secure an acceptance to the University of Cambridge; the UK direction has received 19 offers from G5 universities
