Innovating Learning Spaces

Britannia International School (BIS) in Guangzhou is dedicated to creating the best learning environment for our students. Over the past year, we have continuously improved and innovated our campus facilities to provide students with a more diverse learning experience and platforms for showcasing their talents. One of the fruits of our relentless efforts is the art gallery located on the second floor, which has been in use for a year, offering students rich artistic experiences and exhibition opportunities.

Part 1

A Year of Inspiration:

The Beloved Art Gallery

The art curation space on the second floor of BIS is situated between the art classroom, the arts and sports classroom, and the multifunctional hall. This space is specifically designed for art curation and exhibitions.

During the renovation project, our design team cleverly utilized straight walls, curved walls, and arches to create a unique visual experience. Through the arched door, one can see arched windows on the background wall, forming a "triple arch" visual effect that adds depth and dimension to the space. The walls are used to partition the space and hang artworks, while the curved areas are reserved for 3D exhibits.

To add a modern touch, acrylic panels are suspended from the ceiling, creating a contrast in texture and visual solidity with the walls. Since its establishment, this art gallery has hosted numerous campus exhibitions under the guidance of BIS art and design teachers, showcasing the creativity and talents of our students.

Looking to the future, we anticipate this space will continue to provide students with opportunities to learn and display their artwork. BIS always puts students at the center, striving to meet each student's learning and development needs, and making the best use of limited space to create more suitable learning environments.

Part 2

Exciting Summer Plans:

Photography Studio and Darkroom

As we enter the summer, BIS once again puts its creativity to work, focusing on enhancing our learning environment. We are excited to announce plans for a new photography studio and darkroom.

The new photography studio will provide students with a professional setting for photography. Equipped with advanced lighting and background options, this space will allow students to experiment with various photographic techniques and styles. The darkroom, on the other hand, will offer a hands-on experience with traditional film processing, enabling students to understand the history and technical foundations of photography.

These new facilities will not only support art courses but also foster a deeper understanding of visual arts. Students will have the opportunity to learn about composition, lighting, and the intricacies of developing photographs. These skills are invaluable in today's visually driven world and will provide students with a comprehensive artistic education.
