ASJ we successfully produced our first end of the unit celebration for the semester. Here is a overview of the festivities!
The theme of Grade 1 was “Helping Hands”, which focused on people in a community work together to meet each other’s needs.
Students goal was to understand the roles and responsibilities within a community while reflecting on who they admire and what they want to be when they grow up.
Students worked in teams to create a displays showing their actions and gave presentations on these as part of the exhibition.
These activities strengthened their social and communication skills, by the end of the unit students had a deeper understanding of how they can contribute to the communities they are part of. It was a successful start to a journey of growth and learning!
Next, Grade 2 created “Let’s Be Producers” where students learned how communities function by exploring the role of producers and consumers.
The highlight was a classroom exhibition where students created handmade items, taking on the role of producers. They presented their creations to their classmates and participated in a money-free product exchange.
This interactive experience gave them a fun, hands-on way to understand the value of goods and services.
Then, Grade 3 theme was, “Market Day”. Grade 3 students culminated their learning journey by hosting a Market Day, where they applied their understanding in a real-world scenario.
An in-depth inquiry into essential economic concepts such as needs and wants, consumer behavior, and how producers meet consumer demands.
Students participated in a marketplace simulation, using money to experience the challenges of the real world. Their inquiries led them to explore the production process, particularly focusing on toy production—from design to molding and mass production.
The highlight of the Market Day was the natural competitiveness and collaboration that emerged, with students enthusiastically buying and reselling each other's products at better prices, all in the spirit of fun and learning. What a successful and engaging end to a memorable unit!
Afterwards, Grade 4 Let’s Get Organized! Exploring different Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) We touched upon Organization purposes and structures, problem solving and the 17 SDGs, and briefly looked at leadership and data gathering.
Highlights of this unit included students bringing in their own research and data to give credibility to organizations actually attempting to fix problems around the world. This self-development of their global awareness encourages their engagement and adds more questions to our wonder wall.
Alongside that, the students also focused on self-management skills such as digital literacy and rules to using ipads/computers, keeping their research in a safe location, and keeping resources organized and tidy for future use. Students were encouraged to give their voice into how problems could be solved and they could potentially develop or support organizations in the future.
G5
Building Future Leaders Today
During Grade 5s theme, “Building Future Leaders Today”, students inquired into leadership as a concept, looked at the qualities of leaders by researching about local and international leaders.
They had moments of reflection where they engaged into the “I CAN” exercise meant to help them discover their existing self-management skills. Going further, Grade 5 students then researched about rights children have using the guidelines from the United Nations.
They matched those with responsibilities they believe come with those rights. This helped them discover that the success of leadership relies on the suport of the people they lead. All in all, it was a very successful end of unit display whilst creating future leaders.

Students took action by gathering the information they collected and presenting it for other students via learning activities and utilized their social skills by collaborating during the creation of their poster which was also presented and provided room for a Q&A discussion.
Overall, students showcased open mindedness when discussing the differences of how countries are governed as well as their natural abilities to be inquires urging them to learn more.
Overall, we must send a heavy congratulations to the students who worked tirelessly during the Unit 1 How We Organize Ourselves.
The work surely spoke for itself, students will continuously thrive while sharing what they know, understanding new concepts, producing high quality work which is viewed throughout the learning environment and ultimately being used in their daily lives.
