华外校帆船队于2023年3月26日正式成立，固定每周训练1次，平均每月安排1场赛事进行以赛代练，进行本地冬训和夏训，由经验丰富、技术高超的全国冠军级别运动员担任队伍主教练，为队员们提供系统、科学的训练。

Huawai Varsity Sailing Team was formally established on 26 March 2023, with a fixed weekly training, an average of one race per month for racing instead of training, local winter and summer training, and experienced and highly skilled athletes at the national championship level as the head coach of the team, providing systematic and scientific training for the team members.

目前全队已有三名队员获评国家二级运动员，队伍在各国家级、省级帆船赛事中斩获佳绩，如全国青少年帆船赛总决赛 U15亚军，2023广东省青少年帆船锦标赛OP组团体第四名、激光4.7组团体第四名等等。这次佳绩，不仅是队员们的辛勤付出的回报，更是学校教育理念的生动体现，是学校对于培养“更中国、更世界”的优秀广州市青少年运动员的有力呈现。

At present, three members of the team have been assessed as national second-class athletes, and the team has won good results in various national and provincial sailing events, such as the second place in the U15 of the National Youth Sailing Finals, the fourth place in the group of OP and the fourth place in the group of Laser 4.7 in the Guangdong Youth Sailing Championships in 2023, and so on. This success is not only a reward for the hard work of the team members, but also a vivid embodiment of the school's educational philosophy, and the school's commitment to cultivating outstanding young athletes from Guangzhou who ‘ Embrace China, Embrace the World’.

正如韦翕在采访中所提到的：作为运动员，训练时经常周末两天都得泡在海里，过程很辛苦，而且有时候需要请假出去比赛，还好在我回来后，老师会抽时间单独帮我补上那些在比赛时落下的知识及作业。这里的老师和同学们给了我很多支持，有爱，有鼓舞，有阳光，让我无畏眼前的挑战。

As Wei Xie mentioned in the interview: As an athlete, I often have to spend two days in the sea at weekends during training, which is a very hard process, and sometimes I need to take leave to go out for competitions. Fortunately, after I come back, teachers will take time to help me individually to make up for the knowledge and homework that I have left behind during the competitions. The teachers and students here have given me a lot of support, love, encouragement and sunshine, so that I am not afraid of the challenges in front of me.

一年来，孩子们通过帆船进校园活动首次接触帆船，好奇心驱使他们加入校队。从开始的退缩、不敢下水，到在教练们的不断鼓励下第一次下海，第一次出港，第一次掌舵、并逐渐学会操作技巧，如迎风转向、换舷等等。通过不断参与比赛，孩子们不仅提升了技能，更培养了乐观、自信、坚毅的品格。

Over the past year, the children were first introduced to sailing through the Sailing in School programme, and their curiosity drove them to join the varsity team. From the beginning, they were afraid to go into the water, but with the encouragement of the coaches, they went into the sea for the first time, went out to the harbour for the first time, took the helm for the first time, and gradually learnt to operate the skills, such as steering into the wind, changing the port, and so on. Through continuous participation in competitions, the children not only improved their skills, but also developed optimism, confidence and perseverance.

体育教育的高质量发展象征着未来、希望和更广阔的可能性。未来，华外帆船队将继续秉承全人发展的育人理念，为学生们提供更多锻炼的平台，帮助他们健康成长，成为德智体美劳全面发展的优秀人才。

The high-quality development of physical education symbolises the future, hope and wider possibilities.
