Cooking Project
Over the past two weeks, Year 6 students had the unique opportunity to dive into the exciting world of cooking during their English and Math classes. But what's all the excitement about, you ask? Picture this: cooking mouthwatering chicken shawarma, crispy French fries, juicy hamburgers, and flavorful chicken biriyani—all within the walls of the classroom! Sounds like a dream class, right?
This hands-on experience not only ignited students' passion for cooking, but also provided them with invaluable learning opportunities in key areas such as collaboration, communication, vocabulary expansion, cultural awareness, measurement and fractions, and problem-solving.
As the cooking sessions unfolded, I had the pleasure of observing how students worked together with enthusiasm, confidence, and creativity. The atmosphere buzzed with innovation and teamwork, as students were encouraged to share feedback with one another, celebrating successes and offering constructive advice for improvement. This approach fostered a student-centered environment, where everyone had a chance to shine.
And the fun doesn’t stop here! The cooking project will continue after the winter holidays, and I can’t wait to see what delicious international dishes our talented Year 6 chefs will create next. Stay tuned for more culinary adventures!
Celebration of Learning: English Literacy and AI
In another exciting chapter of their learning journey, Year 6 students embarked on an AI adventure in the 21st century! Imagine a classroom filled with laptops, iPads, notebooks, pencils, and cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence software—a perfect blend of traditional and digital learning.
After a month of planning, researching, writing, editing, and publishing their very own short stories, the students were ready to showcase their hard work at the Celebration of Learning on December 3rd. The highlight of the event was a heartwarming visit to Ms. Zanie’s Year 1 classroom, where Year 6 students shared the magic of literacy with the younger students. The room was filled with excitement, wonder, and an eagerness to learn, as Year 6 students proudly exhibited their creativity and hard work.
A huge thank you to Ms. Zanie, Ms. Julie, and the Year 1 students for welcoming us with such warmth and enthusiasm. The collaboration and excitement we witnessed on this special day made it a truly memorable experience for everyone involved.
