在亚加达国际预科AIC，我们将教育视为一段充满活力的旅程，超越传统课堂的界限，延伸到现实世界，通过独特的体验培养全球公民意识和个人成长。这个十一月，我们的学生与 The Learning Adventure 合作，开启了一场为期 8 天的越南 CAS 之旅。这次难得的机会，让来自不同年级的学生和老师齐聚一堂，在全新的动态环境中分享经验、互相学习，收获了宝贵的成长经历。

At Alcanta International College (AIC), we envision education as a vibrant journey that transcends traditional classroom boundaries into the real world, fostering global citizenship and personal growth through unique experiences. This November, our students embarked on an 8-day CAS trip to Vietnam in collaboration with The Learning Adventure, which provided an invaluable opportunity for students across different grades and teachers to come together, share experiences, and learn from each other in a new and dynamic environment.

Cultural Immersion and Creativity

越南丰富的历史与文化为我们的学生提供了完美的背景，让他们能够全身心地融入其中。从河内的传统水上木偶戏到胡志明陵墓和越战B52博物馆的历史探索，学生们不仅学习了越南的历史与文化遗产，还积极参与了创意表达。通过在河内旧城区进行寻宝活动，学生们进一步融入了当地文化，这些活动鼓励他们通过捕捉河内的斑斓色彩、品尝未知的地方美食，以及练习越南语短语，与周围环境进行创造性的互动。这些动态且互动的活动加深了他们对当地文化的欣赏，同时也展现了他们作为探究者和沟通者的成长。

为进一步增强文化体验，学生们参加了当地的烹饪课程，学习制作越南传统夏卷和春卷。这不仅让他们在掌握越南烹饪艺术的同时表达了自己的创造力，还增进了对越南美食的深刻理解。此外，行程还包括参观万林刺绣村，学生们亲身体验了越南刺绣这项精细的传统工艺。这门技艺不仅展示了越南的艺术遗产，也强调了通过精心手工制作保护文化传统的重要性。

Vietnam's rich tapestry of history and culture provided the perfect backdrop for our students to immerse themselves fully. From enjoying the traditional Water Puppet Show in Hanoi to exploring the historical significance of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and B52 Vietnam War Museum, students not only learned about Vietnam's history and heritage but also engaged in creative expression. The cultural immersion was further enriched by a scavenger hunt in Hanoi's Old Quarters, which pushed our students to creatively engage with their surroundings by capturing the vibrant colours of Hanoi, tasting unknown local dishes, and practicing Vietnamese phrases. These activities deepened their appreciation of the local culture in a dynamic, interactive way, reflecting their development as inquirers and communicators.

Further enhancing their cultural exposure, students participated in local cooking classes where they learned to make traditional Vietnamese summer and spring rolls. This allowed them to express their creativity while gaining insights into Vietnamese culinary arts, fostering a deeper appreciation for the country's cuisine. Additionally, the trip included a visit to the Van Lam Embroidery Village, where students practiced the intricate art of Vietnamese embroidery. This craft not only highlights Vietnam’s artistic heritage but also underscores the importance of preserving cultural traditions through meticulous handiwork.

Adventure, Activity and Discovery

冒险、活动实践与发现

冒险是体验式学习的核心。在越南的旅途中，学生们挑战自我，拥抱全新的挑战。他们体验了在联合国教科文组织世界遗产——下龙湾周边划皮划艇和探索洞穴的刺激，平静的水面与高耸的石灰岩峭壁为难忘的冒险提供了壮丽的背景。此外，学生们还通过乡村骑行与越南的田园美景建立了深刻的联系。

旅程中一大亮点是攀登宁平的舞台洞，踏上600到800级台阶的攀登之旅。这些实践不仅增强了他们的体能，还培养了冒险精神和自我发现的能力，这对于个人成长以及以坚韧的态度面对挑战至关重要，同时也彰显了他们作为勇于冒险和追求平衡的学习者的特质。

Adventure is at the heart of experiential learning. Our students challenged their limits through kayaking around Luon Cave, for breathtaking views of Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Students also challenged themselves by hiking up the Mua Caves, cycling through the country side and trekking through the lush forests of Ninh Binh. These activities not only heightened their physical fitness but also instilled a sense of adventure, crucial for personal growth and learning to face challenges with resilience.

Adventure lies at the heart of experiential learning. On their journey, our students ventured through the breathtaking landscapes of Vietnam, pushing their limits and embracing new challenges. They experienced the thrill of kayaking and caving around Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where the serene waters and towering limestone cliffs offered a backdrop for memorable adventures. Additionally, cycling through the countryside allowed them to connect with the rural beauty of Vietnam. A significant highlight was the climb up the 600-800 steps to the top of Mua Caves in Ninh Binh. These activities not only challenged their physical fitness but also instilled a sense of adventure and self-discovery, crucial for personal growth and facing challenges with resilience, characteristic of risk-takers and balanced individuals.

Sustainability and Conservation

可持续发展与生态保育

理解和保护我们的自然与文化环境至关重要。在此次旅程中，学生们深入了解了保育工作，在古法国家公园的濒危灵长类动物救护中心参与学习，并难得地亲身体验了将一只康复的猴子放归自然的过程。这项活动强调了生物多样性的重要性以及保育工作的紧迫性，与我们提升环保意识并倡导负责任行动的理念高度契合。

此外，学生们还进行了调查，了解旅游业，特别是过度旅游对当地文化、经济和环境的影响。旅行结束后，这些讨论延续到了课堂中，鼓励学生成为善于思考并坚持原则的人，致力于推动可持续发展。

Understanding and preserving our natural and cultural environment is crucial. During the trip, students engaged in understanding conservation work at the Cuc Phuong National Park’s endangered primate rescue centre and even had the rare opportunity to release one of the rehabilitated monkeys back into the wild. This activity underscored the importance of biodiversity and the urgent need for conservation efforts, aligning with our focus on raising environmental awareness and taking responsible action. Further, students conducted surveys to understand the impacts of tourism and over-tourism on local culture, economy, and the environment. These discussions in class post-trip encourage our students to be thinkers and principled individuals, committed to sustainable development.

Community Building

共建凝聚力

An integral aspect of the trip was the strengthening of our school community. Students from various grades and teachers worked together, faced challenges, and shared transformative moments. This trip provided a platform for meaningful interactions that are not always possible in a classroom setting, helping to forge lasting bonds and a sense of belonging within the AIC community.

Global Citizenship

全球公民意识

As a school where many graduating students study abroad, understanding and integrating into different cultural contexts is vital. The trip equipped our students with the skills and experiences to appreciate and navigate cultural diversity effectively. This exposure is indispensable, as it prepares them to be compassionate and informed global citizens who are capable of contributing positively in any setting, enhancing their growth as caring and reflective learners.

The Vietnam CAS trip is a testament to AIC's commitment to providing educational experiences that are both inclusive and expansive. By stepping out of the conventional learning environments and into the real world, our students develop not just academic skills but life skills—adaptability and resilience, empathy, appreciation for diversity and a lifelong

commitment to reflection and learning.

These experiences prepare them for future challenges and opportunities as they continue their education in various countries, enabling them to integrate seamlessly and appreciate the diverse world they live in.

The trip to Vietnam was a truly life changing experience for a number of our students, some who had never left China before. The AIC immersion into a new culture, the exploration of new cuisine and trying new activities outside their comfort zone saw amazing changes to many students outlook on life. So proud of all the students for what they accomplished in such a short time.

在河内，这座城市的心脏，我们不仅追溯了越南历史的脉络，更深刻感受到了多元文化对这片土地的深远影响。古老的街道，回响着历史的低语；每一块石板，都承载着故事的重量。在这里，学生们仿佛穿越了时空，与过去的越南进行了一场心灵的对话。

宁平，这片被自然宠爱的土地，以其壮美的风光吸引着世人的目光。在这里，学生们踏入了野生动物的救助区，亲眼目睹了那些曾经被捕获的生灵重获自由的瞬间。这不仅是一次心灵的触动，更是对环境保护意识的深刻培养，让学生们在自然之美中学会了尊重与保护。

而下龙湾，这片被联合国教科文组织誉为世界自然遗产的海域，以其1969个岛屿构成的壮丽海景，让学生们惊叹于大自然的鬼斧神工。在这里，他们不仅用眼睛欣赏，更用心灵体验。皮划艇在碧波中划过，探索洞穴的冒险让学生们的身体得到了锻炼，团队合作的精神在每一次协作中得到了升华。

这不仅仅是一次旅行，这是一次灵魂的洗礼，是一次对自我与世界的深刻理解。在这片异国的土地上，学生们学会了倾听、感受、思考和成长。这，就是越南CAS之旅，一次生命中不可磨灭的记忆。

During my six years of teaching at AIC, I have had the privilege of witnessing countless remarkable journeys. However, the Vietnam CAS trip undoubtedly stands out as a dazzling jewel among them. From the very beginning, Misty, the program coordinator, devoted six months of meticulous planning with tireless dedication, setting the stage for a feast of exotic charm and harmony with nature.

In Hanoi, the heart of this vibrant city, we not only traced the threads of Vietnam's history but also deeply felt the profound influence of diverse cultures on this land. The ancient streets echoed whispers of the past, and every cobblestone seemed to carry the weight of countless stories. Here, the students seemed to transcend time, engaging in a heartfelt dialogue with Vietnam's rich history.

Ninh Binh, a land blessed by nature, captivated us with its breathtaking scenery. In this haven, students ventured into a wildlife rescue center and witnessed the moment when once-captured animals were returned to their natural habitat. It was not only a profound emotional experience but also an impactful lesson in environmental conservation, teaching the students to respect and protect the natural world amidst its beauty.

Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offered a majestic seascape of 1,969 islands, leaving the students in awe of nature’s artistry. Here, they not only admired the scenery with their eyes but also experienced it with their hearts. Kayaking across the pristine waters and embarking on cave explorations tested their physical limits, while teamwork flourished with every coordinated effort.

This was not merely a journey; it was a profound spiritual awakening—a deeper understanding of oneself and the world. On this foreign land, the students learned to listen, feel, think, and grow. This is the Vietnam CAS trip—an indelible memory etched into the chapters of life.

This CAS trip to Vietnam epitomizes the concept of "learning by doing" to its fullest extent. I observed students challenging themselves in the depths of the jungle and at the summits of mountains, despite grudging about bothersome bugs and steep climbs, demonstrating unwavering perseverance. I witnessed students confronting unexpected challenges, leading to emotional breakdowns, yet I deeply appreciated and admired their resilience as they gathered themselves and persisted in completing the entire journey. I observed students showcasing their mastery of descriptive writing by painting vivid imagery rather than relying on plain adjectives. I also saw students forming friendships that transcended homerooms and grade levels, fostering collaboration on various projects upon their return to school. Witnessing students supporting each other through daunting treks to the Lying Dragon, I myself received their assistance and encouragement. Although the CAS trip has concluded, the character, skills, and relationships cultivated during the journey continue to enrich their learning experiences and daily lives. I believe that this trip has successfully fulfilled its mission.

这次越南CAS之旅将“在实践中学习”的理念发挥到了极致。我看到学生们在丛林深处和山顶挑战自我，即使抱怨着恼人的昆虫和陡峭的攀爬，仍展现了坚定不移的毅力。我目睹学生们面对意外挑战时情绪崩溃，但也由衷地欣赏并钦佩他们重新振作并坚持完成整个旅程的韧性。我看到学生们运用生动的描述性写作技巧，通过绘声绘色的描写替代了单调的形容词。我还看到学生们跨越班级和年级建立起深厚的友谊，并在返回学校后共同合作完成了多项任务。

在前往“卧龙”的艰难跋涉中，学生们彼此支持，而我自己也在他们的帮助和鼓励下得以完成旅程。虽然这次CAS之旅已经结束，但在旅程中培养的品质、技能和人际关系仍在丰富他们的学习经历和日常生活。我相信，这次旅程已经圆满完成了它的使命。

Our recent class trip to Vietnam was an extraordinary journey filled with exploration, creativity, and discovery. The adventure began with a thrilling hike to the Hang Mua Caves, where students marveled at the breathtaking views of the surrounding limestone mountains and rice fields from the peak. The trek was both a physical challenge and a rewarding opportunity to connect with nature. The group then ventured to the Van Lam Embroidery Village, immersing themselves in the rich cultural heritage of Vietnam. Students actively participated in an embroidery workshop, learning the intricate techniques of this traditional art form and creating their own unique pieces. This hands-on experience not only fostered creativity but also deepened their appreciation for the craftsmanship and stories behind this beautiful tradition. The trip was a perfect blend of adventure and cultural engagement, leaving students inspired and enriched.

我们的越南之旅是一段充满探索、创意和发现的非凡旅程。冒险从攀登舞台洞的激动人心的徒步开始，学生们从山顶俯瞰周围的石灰岩山脉和稻田，壮丽的景色令人叹为观止。这次徒步不仅是一次身体上的挑战，也是一次与自然亲密接触的宝贵机会。
