Last weekend, the creation of BIS's Future City delegation, "Isle of Lingnan", won third prize in the Middle School category at the 2024-2025 Future City China competition !
Let's extend our warmest congratulations to STEAM teacher Mr. Dickson and the students he led, Isobel, Chenxi, and Lucy! BIS is incredibly proud of you all!
In the final week before the Christmas holiday, BIS held a splendid end-of-term event. On the eve of the holiday, we also welcomed the long-awaited Winter Concert, which was successfully staged.
Now, let's take a moment to look back on these memorable activities.
The EYFS invited parents to the school to make "gingerbread men" with their children, celebrating the successful completion of the term. The activities in each class were well-organised and full of fun. We witnessed the warm smiles between two generations or even three generations
In this month of Christmas, BIS invited "Santa Claus" to the school to greet the little ones and take photos. The children from EYFS to Year 2 had mixed feelings; they were both excited and curious. Some children approached Santa Claus proactively, while others completed their photos in a daze.
For the primary school stage, we initiated a poster competition on the student code of conduct for students from Year 3 to Year 6. The winning posters will be displayed in each class. This is a highly participatory holiday activity, and we look forward to parents encouraging their children to unleash their creativity and produce wonderful posters.
The Student Council convened a brief but powerful meeting, the first gathering of secondary students held by the student representatives under the name of the Student Council. At the meeting, the Student Council team discussed topics such as the latest updates from the Student Council, field trips, and holiday reminders. We look forward to the Student Council playing a more positive role in the future, enhancing the cohesion of the student body.
Our Accelerated English Programme (AEP) held two debate competitions, with topics related to teachers and school uniforms, both of which are closely related to the students. The debaters from both sides honed their language skills and improved their logical thinking through English debates.
Meanwhile, the After-School Activities (ASA) at BIS were drawing to a close. The Future City course students were conducting their final rehearsals before the national competition, while the football class held a friendly match, with children striving to compete in the football game.
The Winter Concert on the last day of term 1 undoubtedly warmed up this winter, as Principal Mr Mark said, "Our Winter Concert is always a fantastic occasion; this year is a bit colder, but we still had a great time outside."
With the holidays now upon us, BIS has kicked off a new winter camp this week. We wish the students a pleasant and meaningful two weeks under the professional guidance of their teachers.
