As a traditional and meaningful charity sale activity of our school, ‘Warm Winter’ comes every winter, which not only adds a touch of warm colour to the campus, but also is an important platform for us to practice the concept of global citizenship, actively give back to the society, and lend a helping hand to the community and the disadvantaged groups. In order to further enhance the social influence and effectiveness of the activity, this year we have carefully planned and launched the ‘Warm Winter 2.0’, which aims to gather the love power of the whole school through more diversified ways and channels.
Note: For privacy and security reasons, we need to apply special processing to photos to ensure that sensitive information is effectively protected. Processing may include blurring, mosaicing, cropping or adding a masking layer.
In this campaign, we have innovatively divided the funds raised into four main donation directions, and strive to maximise the social benefits of each donation.
In order to ensure the effective use of funds and the smooth running of the donation activities, a team of volunteers was carefully organised under the joint leadership of the Student Development Centre and the Student Union. They actively established contact with various types of recipients, understood their actual needs, and tailored the donation programme. Through this series of well-planned donation activities, ‘Warm Winter and 2.0’ not only conveyed the warmth and hope from the campus, but also stimulated the attention and support of the community for the disadvantaged groups, and jointly built a more harmonious and inclusive social environment.
never forget
the great love
On 22nd January 2025, which is the traditional Chinese festival - Xiao Nian, 13 representatives of the student union cadres from primary, middle and high schools of our school embarked on a meaningful charity journey with full of enthusiasm and deep concern.

Prior to this, they had received systematic training from Mr Du of the Living Water Spring Home in Tianhe District, Guangzhou. Under the careful guidance of Mr Du, the students embarked on a journey to visit the homeless people in Guangzhou with carefully prepared materials. They not only sent the homeless people the much-needed necessities of life, such as clothing, food, warmth, etc., but also used a sentence of sincere blessings, a paragraph of warm family talk, to bring each other closer, so that the homeless people feel the long-lost human touch and social care.
Behind the hustle and bustle of the city, there is often a neglected corner where a special group of people, the street people, are living. In order to express our respect and understanding for them, we affectionately call them ‘street people’, a name that not only implies equality and friendliness, but also means that although they live on the streets, they are also our friends, and are equally worthy of our attention, understanding and care.
Under the neon lights of the city, their lonely figures seem particularly small and helpless. They may huddle on street corners on cold winter nights, using worn-out clothes to ward off the biting winds; or they may seek a rare shade on hot summer days to ease the torment of the scorching heat.
Therefore, as a member of the community, we have the responsibility to pay attention to the living conditions of these street people, to understand their plight and needs, and to care for their physical and mental health.
It is better to teach a man to fish
than to give him a fish
At the same time, Mr Zheng Wei, the school's Assistant Principal for Moral Education, gave an inspiring speech at the training session for the Student Council cadres. He said fondly, ‘True success is not how much wealth or status you have, but how much you have given to society and how much you have changed for others.’ He quoted the old saying ‘It is better to teach a man to fish than to give him a fish’, emphasising that while helping others, it is more important to cultivate their self-development ability, so that the recipients can be self-reliant and fundamentally improve their living conditions.
Mr Zheng further elaborated on the importance of the concept of ‘Caring’ in our IB training objectives. He encouraged the students that while we enjoy all the services and conveniences provided by society, we should always bear in mind the responsibility of giving back to society and serving the community. This is not only a refinement of personal character, but also a reflection of social responsibility.
On this warm New Year's Eve, our students interpreted the true meaning of ‘love without boundaries’ with practical actions. These activities not only show our students' commitment to social responsibility, but also convey warmth and positive energy, so that the street people feel the deep concern from the community, and jointly write a warm and touching story on the New Year's Eve.
