在3月5日,学校成功举办了由CAS协调员Misty老师组织的DP2 CAS展览(CAS Exhibition)。此次展览为即将完成IBDP课程的学生们提供了一个回顾、展示和分享他们两年CAS旅程的平台。展览不仅展示了他们的成长与成就,同时也激励更多学生积极参与CAS活动。


On March 5th, the school hosted the DP2 CAS Exhibition, organized by CAS Coordinator Ms. Misty. This event provided students completing the IBDP program a platform to review, demonstrate, and share their two-year journey in CAS. The exhibition showcased their growth and achievements while inspiring others to actively engage in CAS activities.





CAS(Creativity)、活动(Activity)和服务(Service)是IBDP课程的核心组成部分,旨在培养具有社会责任感、协作精神和创新思维的全球公民。除了学术卓越,CAS还帮助学生锻炼领导力、适应力、沟通能力及抗压能力等关键软技能,这些素质对未来的高等教育及职业发展至关重要。CAS的体验式学习模式不仅提升了学生的情商与共情能力,还增强了他们对社区的责任感,使其成为能够适应不断变化世界的全面发展型人才。


CAS is a core component of the IBDP curriculum, designed to develop socially responsible, collaborative, and innovative global citizens through Creativity, Activity, and Service. Beyond academic excellence, CAS nurtures essential soft skills such as leadership, adaptability, communication, and resilience—qualities that are crucial for success in higher education and professional life. The experiential nature of CAS allows students to develop emotional intelligence, empathy, and a sense of responsibility towards the community, making them well-rounded individuals prepared to navigate an ever-changing world.

 


  Creativity | 创意启发灵感

学生们积极参与了丰富多样的创意体验,包括中国画、印章制作、十字绣、手工艺等。其中,Cindy、Gabrielle 和 Bella 的摄影与策展CAS成为一大亮点。她们通过镜头捕捉南沙的生活气息,与当地社区成员互动,例如桥下的理发师,以独特的视觉叙事展现城市的温度与故事。  


在烹饪CAS中,Chloe 和 Ivy 尝试了多种烹饪技巧,探索不同的本地及国际美食,不仅提升了动手能力,还加深了对饮食文化的理解。同时,Pianpian 创立了英式议会制辩论俱乐部,培养学生的批判性思维与论证能力,并成功举办了一场引人入胜的师生对抗辩论赛。Asha 领导成立了学校首个机器人俱乐部,学生们在其中学习工程概念,运用编程技术,设计并组装功能性机器人,将创意与科技相结合。  


这些创意活动不仅为学生提供了施展想象力的舞台,还锻炼了他们的耐心、工艺技巧和艺术表现力,同时培养了自律精神与团队协作能力,使他们在实践中不断成长与突破。


Students engaged in diverse creative experiences, exploring Chinese painting, stamp making, cross-stitch, handicrafts and more. Cindy, Gabrielle, and Bella’s Photography and Curation CAS was a highlight, as they captured the essence of life in Nansha, engaging with local community members, including a barber under the bridge, to create a compelling visual narrative. In Cooking CAS, Chloe and Ivy experimented with various culinary techniques, learning about different local and global cuisines while improving their practical skills. Meanwhile, Pianpian introduced the British Parliamentary Debate Club, fostering critical thinking and argumentation skills, culminating in an exciting teacher-versus-student debate. Asha led the first Robotics Club, allowing students to explore engineering concepts, apply coding, and build functional robots, bridging creativity with technology.


Each of these creative activities provided students with valuable opportunities to develop their creativity, which encouraged patience, craftsmanship, and artistic expression while also fostering discipline and collaboration.




        Activity | 运动锻炼意志

学生们也勇敢走出舒适区,尝试新运动,提升既有运动技能,并挑战自我,担任教练指导低年级学生。William、Pianpian、Alex、Cindy、Gabrielle 和 Ivan 突破自我,尝试了拳击、击剑、网球、田径、足球和飞盘等运动项目,在挑战中发现新兴趣,同时提升身体素质、心理韧性和抗压能力。


在展览中,学生们回顾了自己在体育方面的成长与坚持。Alexander、James、Asha 和 Ivan 从球员成长为教练,在篮球CAS、足球CAS和网球CAS中发挥领导作用。他们精心设计训练计划,指导其他学生,其中一些是零基础的初学者,不仅帮助他们提升运动技能,也培养了对运动的热爱。


此外,学生们还积极参与田径、飞盘、拳击、羽毛球和嘻哈舞等运动项目,锻炼身体素质、纪律性和团队协作能力。由 Roy 组织的健身CAS则提供了系统的健身训练,帮助学生提升整体健康状况和耐力。


这些运动经历不仅增强了学生的毅力、战略思维和适应能力,也让他们在体育之外的学术和个人成长道路上受益匪浅。


Students also stepped outside their comfort zones to try new sports, develop skills in previously loved sports and also take on the role of a coach to teach younger students. William, Pianpian, Alex, Cindy, Gabrielle and Ivan stepped out of their comfort zones and tried new sports such as boxing, fencing and tennis discovering new interests and developing physical and mental wellbeing and resilience through these challenging sports.

 

During the exhibition, students reflected on their athletic growth and perseverance as coaches. Alexander, James, Asha, and Ivan’s journey from player to coach highlighted their leadership role in the Basketball CAS, Football CAS and Tennis CAS respectively. They designed training plans and coached other students, some of whom were completely new to the sport, fostering a love for the sport while improving their skills. 

Other activities included Track and Field, Frisbee, Boxing, hiphop dance and badminton, where students honed their physical abilities, discipline, and teamwork. The Fitness CAS, led by Roy, provided structured gym workouts aimed at improving overall health and stamina.


These experiences reinforced the importance of perseverance, strategic thinking, and adaptability—skills that extend beyond sports into various aspects of students’ academic and personal lives.



Service |   服务传递温暖

社区和校内服务是CAS的重要组成部分,鼓励学生关注本地及全球问题,同时培养同理心、责任感、领导力以及对道德实践的重视。在CAS展览中,学生们分享了他们在服务中的感人故事和收获。  


由Alexander、Alex、Asha 和 Ivan 领导的学生会(STUCO)在塑造校园社区方面发挥了关键作用。他们不仅负责活动策划,更积极为学生群体发声,确保学生的意见在学校讨论和决策中得到重视。他们致力于解决学生关切的问题,优化学校政策,并推动校园包容性发展,为校园生活带来了积极影响。此外,他们还组织了全校性活动,如Spirit Week、运动日、游戏和电影之夜、万圣节庆祝活动及慈善义卖。这些活动不仅增强了校园凝聚力,还鼓励学生积极参与服务与领导实践。  


此外,Stella、Chloe、Ivy 和 Asha 在小学服务CAS中发挥了重要作用,她们前往港龙实验学校教授英语。通过精心设计的课程和互动式教学,她们激发了孩子们对学习的兴趣,同时也促进了不同文化和语言之间的交流。这项服务强调了教育公平的重要性,并展现了教育对于塑造年轻一代的深远影响。  


在校外服务方面,学生们也积极投身于具有影响力的个人项目。William 通过筹款支持孤儿院,展现了主动性和社会责任感。与此同时,Gabrielle 与广东省残疾人联合会合作,为有智力障碍儿童的家庭送去必需品,不仅为社区提供了实际支持,也培养了她的同理心和社会意识。  


Roy 则回顾了他在CAS旅行中积累的服务经验。在清远和连南的公益活动中,他和同学们帮助修缮社区基础设施,并首次使用电钻和工具为养老院制作家具。这一实践经历不仅为当地社区带来了实质性的帮助,也增强了学生们的团队协作和问题解决能力,展现了服务如何推动个人与集体的成长。


Community and school-based service is an integral part of CAS, engaging student in local and global issues, teaching them empathy, responsibility, leadership and importance of ethical action. During the CAS Exhibition, students shared inspiring stories of their service experiences.

 

STUCO, led by Alexander, Alex, Asha, and Ivan, played a pivotal role in shaping the school community. Beyond event planning, they actively engaged in advocacy for the student body, ensuring student voices were heard in school discussions and initiatives. They worked to address student concerns, enhance school policies, and promote inclusivity, making meaningful contributions to the overall student experience. They also organized major school-wide activities such as Spirit Weeks, Sports Day, Games and Movie Nights, Halloween celebrations, and Charity Bazaars. These events strengthened school spirit, fostered inclusivity, and encouraged students to actively engage in service and leadership opportunities.

 

Additionally, Stella, Chloe, Ivy, and Asha played an essential role in the Primary School Service CAS, where they taught English at Ganglong Experimental School. Engaging with young learners, they developed creative lesson plans and interactive teaching strategies, fostering a love for learning while bridging cultural and linguistic gaps. Their work highlighted the importance of educational equity and the impact of service in shaping young minds.

 

Beyond school-based service, students undertook impactful individual projects. William engaged in fundraising for an orphanage, demonstrating initiative and social responsibility. Meanwhile, Gabrielle worked with the Guangdong Disabled Persons' Federation, where she helped deliver essential supplies to families with children who have intellectual disabilities. This initiative provided support to the community while fostering empathy and social awareness.

 

Roy reflected on his service experiences gained during CAS trips to Qingyuan and Liannan., as he and his peers worked to restore community infrastructure, building furniture for a senior care home using electric drills and tools for the first time. This hands-on experience not only benefited the community but also reinforced teamwork and problem-solving skills among students, demonstrating how service can create meaningful personal and collective growth.



CAS旅行:探险、学习与成长 CAS Trips: Adventure, Learning, and Growth




学校的CAS旅行是体验式学习的基石,旨在鼓励学生突破舒适区,培养独立能力,并创造难忘的回忆。这些旅行为学生提供了户外探索、文化交流和实践服务的宝贵机会。  


本届学生经历了两次意义深远的CAS旅行。第一年,他们前往清远进行户外露营,参与生存训练、团队挑战和领导力培养活动,在大自然中锤炼自身的适应能力、抗压能力和问题解决能力,同时深刻体会到自然与合作的重要性。  


第二年,学生们分别前往越南和连南,深入体验创造、活动、服务及文化交流。这些旅行旨在挑战学生,促使他们适应新环境,与不同社区合作,并在真实世界中应用所学技能,进一步提升他们的综合素质和全球视野。


CAS trips at AIC are a cornerstone of experiential learning, designed to push students beyond their comfort zones, foster independence, and create lasting memories. These trips provide students with opportunities to engage in outdoor exploration, cultural exchange, and hands-on service.

 

This cohort of students has had two transformative CAS trips. In their first year, they embarked on an outdoor camping experience in Qingyuan, where they participated in survival training, teamwork challenges, and leadership exercises in a natural environment. The experience allowed them to strengthen their resilience, adaptability, and problem-solving skills while appreciating the importance of nature and collaboration.

 

In their second year, students travelled to Vietnam and Liannan, where they engaged in creativity, activity, service, and cultural experiences. These trips were designed to challenge students, pushing them to adapt to new environments, collaborate with diverse communities, and apply their skills in real-world contexts.





CAS中的挑战与成长 Challenges and Growth in CAS

Time Management and Academic Balance – Managing CAS alongside the rigorous IB curriculum was a challenge, requiring students to develop strong organizational and time management skills.


领导力与协调能力 —— 作为CAS项目的领导者,学生们在管理同伴、组织活动安排以及确保参与度方面面临困难,这对他们的沟通和领导能力提出了更高要求。


Leadership and Coordination – As leaders of various CAS initiatives, students faced difficulties in managing peers, organizing logistics, and ensuring participation, testing their communication and leadership abilities.


预期与现实的差距 —— 一些学生发现CAS比想象中更加自主,需要他们主动规划并富有创造性地设计自己的体验,从而锻炼了独立思考与问题解决能力。


Gap Between Expectations and Reality – Some students found CAS to be more self-directed than expected, requiring them to take initiative and creatively plan their own experiences.

随着DP2学生们步入CAS旅程的尾声,他们回顾自己的成就、挑战与成长。CAS不仅仅是IB课程的一项要求,更是一段意义深远的经历,培养了学生的独立性,并激发他们对积极改变的承诺。通过在创造、活动和服务方面的多元实践,学生们不仅塑造了自己的未来,也为社区留下了深远的影响。在CAS中所获得的技能、经验与珍贵回忆,将在他们未来的道路上持续激励和指引他们,帮助他们成长为积极进取的全球公民。


As DP2 students conclude their CAS journey, they reflect on their achievements, challenges, and growth. CAS is not merely an IB requirement—it is a meaningful and lifelong experience that fosters independence and a commitment to positive change. Through their varied engagements in creativity, activity, and service, students have not only shaped their own futures but have also left a lasting impact on their community. The skills, lessons, and memories gained through CAS will continue to inspire and guide them beyond their school years, preparing them to be proactive global citizens.
