From roaring reflections in Reception to a journey through outer space in Year 1, and a heartfelt charity effort led by Year 3—this week at BIS has been a shining example of how our students grow, explore, and give back. Let’s take a look at how learning comes to life across our vibrant school community.

Roaring Success: Reception Tigers Reflect on a Brilliant Year

Written by Ms. Suzanne, June 2025.

As we come to the end of an incredible year, our Reception Tiger Class students reflect on their journey filled with new adventures, exciting discoveries, and lots of fun learning experiences. The children have grown so much, developing their confidence, curiosity, and kindness every day.

We are incredibly proud of each child's progress and enthusiasm. They have shown great resilience, always ready to try new things and support one another. Their bright smiles and eager faces have made this year truly special. Our classroom was always buzzing with energy and curiosity, and it’s wonderful to see how much each child has blossomed. We are especially proud of their kindness, and eagerness to learn.

Throughout the year, our students embraced the IEYC principles of curiosity, independence, and collaboration. They enthusiastically engaged in a variety of themes, from exploring animals and their habitats to investigating local communities and environmental conservation. Their natural curiosity drove them to ask questions, seek answers, and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Our class has shown tremendous creativity and teamwork in numerous projects and activities. Whether it was creating detailed animal posters, participating in group presentations, or exploring science experiments, every child demonstrated resilience and enthusiasm. The children also developed essential social skills, learning to listen, share ideas, and support one another, fostering a warm and inclusive classroom environment.

As they prepare to move on to Year 1, we are confident that they are well-equipped with the skills and confidence needed for the next chapter of their learning journey. We would like to thank all parents and guardians for their support and encouragement throughout the year.

We are grateful for the support and encouragement throughout the year of our families and the dedication of our specialist teachers, who helped nurture each child's unique talents and interests. As our Reception Tiger Class 2025 moves forward, we are excited to see how they will continue to grow, learn, and make a positive impact in the world.

Well done, Reception Tiger Class of 2025! You have made a fantastic start to your school journey, and we are so proud of each and every one of you.

We wish all our reception children a happy, fun-filled summer and can't wait to see what they achieve next!

Exploring Outer Space in Year 1!

Written by Ms. Zanie, June 2025.

This term, our Year 1 classroom blasted off into an exciting journey through space! As part of our Science unit, we explored the wonders of the solar system, Earth, and beyond through interactive and hands-on activities that truly brought learning to life.

The students were especially captivated when we learned about how Earth is made up of both land and water. To deepen their understanding, they used play dough to shape landforms, including mountains, valleys, rivers, and oceans. This tactile activity helped them visually and physically grasp the different surfaces that make up our planet.

Another highlight of the unit was our space suit design challenge. After learning about the conditions in space and how astronauts need to be protected, students enthusiastically set out to design their very own space suits! Using a variety of craft materials, they created imaginative, functional suits while discussing what makes a suit suitable for space travel. Their creativity and understanding truly shone during this activity!

Throughout the unit, students were encouraged to ask questions, work together, and apply what they had learned through creative expression. It was inspiring to see their curiosity grow as we uncovered the mysteries of space and our place in the universe.

We are incredibly proud of their hard work and enthusiasm. Well done, Year 1 explorers!

Year 3 Charity Yard Sale: A Heartwarming Effort to Give Back

Written by Ms. Suty, June 2025.

Last week, under the guidance of Mr. Dilip, our Year 3 students organised a meaningful yard sale. Students and staff across the school were encouraged to donate pre-loved but gently used toys and books, which became part of the sale items.

Thanks to everyone's generous support, the event raised a total of 2,165 RMB, which will be fully donated to the Jinsha Street Social Work Service Station.

This week, social workers from the Jinsha Station were invited to BIS to speak with our Year 3 students about their role in the community and the impact of social work. They also received the full proceeds from the charity sale during their visit.

A heartfelt thank you to all the students, teachers, and parents who contributed to this initiative. Your kindness and commitment have helped bring classroom learning into real-world action. We are so proud of our Year 3 students for leading with compassion and making a positive difference in our community!
