This week, our school came alive with the colours, stories and traditions of the Mid-Autumn Festival. From our youngest learners to our senior students, everyone took part in activities that highlighted the joy of reunion, the beauty of creativity, and the importance of sharing culture together as a community.

In Early Years, families joined their children for a mooncake-making workshop. Side by side, they measured, mixed and pressed mooncakes, learning each step of the recipe together. It was more than just baking—it was a chance for children to build early literacy and maths skills while deepening their understanding of people and communities. Children also listened to the magical tales of Houyi, Chang’e and the Jade Rabbit, practiced writing the character for “moon,” and sang songs that captured their imagination. The experience created not only delicious mooncakes, but also wonderful memories of learning and belonging.

In Primary, the celebrations unfolded through a variety of creative projects. Year 3 designed their own mooncake crafts, while Year 6 wrote clever riddles now displayed at the front desk for everyone to solve. Year 1 made Mid-Autumn cards, Year 2 lanterns, Year 4 3D mooncakes, and Year 5 posters—all adding their own touch to the spirit of the festival. Each activity gave students a chance to express their creativity while learning the values of family, sharing and togetherness.

In Secondary, the Chinese Department led a series of meaningful experiences. Year 7 students made mooncakes, discovering why they represent reunion and good wishes. Year 8 crafted colourful lanterns, symbols of hope and light, while Year 9 decorated round fans, echoing the completeness of the moon and family circle. For the first time, a school-wide lantern riddle challenge was introduced, sparking laughter, teamwork and plenty of excitement as students worked together to solve the puzzles.
The celebrations culminated on a whole-school dress-up day, where traditional and festive outfits filled the campus with colour and energy. Walking through the halls, it was impossible not to feel the sense of pride and unity as our community celebrated together.

Across every phase, our students and families not only learned about the Mid-Autumn Festival but also lived its spirit—sharing stories, creating together, and celebrating the values of reunion, hope and joy.
We wish everyone Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!
