华外小学三年级的英语课堂上,孩子们一边用英语喊出指令,一边舒展双臂,模仿鸟飞之姿。这不是普通的体育课,而是一节英语与五禽戏深度融合的公开课现场。
Third graders follow along in English class, stretching their arms like flying birds. But this is more than just English—it’s a class combining language learning with Five-animal play, a traditional Chinese exercise.
这节以《Unit 8 It’s time to exercise!》为主题的创新课例,让学生在“动”中习得语言,在“演”中传承文化,生动诠释华外“更中国,更世界”的办学追求。
Titled ‘Unit 8 It’s Time to Exercise!’, this innovative lesson enables students to learn language through movement and explore culture through performance—embodying the school’s vision to “Embrace China, embrace the world.”


本节课以中国传统健身术“五禽戏”为主线,将英语、体育、文化认知巧妙融合。学生不仅学习动物名称与动作指令,更通过模仿“虎、鹿、熊、猿、鸟”的姿态,理解动静结合、形神兼备的传统智慧。
This lesson centers on Five-Animal Play, a traditional Chinese exercise. It integrates English, physical education, and cultural awareness. Students learn animal names and action commands while understanding traditional concepts of balance—between motion and stillness, form and spirit—by imitating the postures of the tiger, deer, bear, monkey, and bird.
“First, move your hands and jump like tigers!”跟随老师的英文引导,学生们有力起跳,俨然一只只精神抖擻的小虎。语言学习与身体表达同步进行,课堂真正“活”了起来。
Following cues like, ‘First, move your hands and jump like tigers!’ the students jump energetically. Language learning and physical expression happen together, bringing the classroom to life.



学生跟随英语指令模仿“虎举”“鹿奔”等动作

课堂从华佗创编五禽戏的故事讲起,借助自编英文绘本、视频等素材,帮助学生在语言情境中理解这一非物质文化遗产的健康理念与文化价值。
The class begins with the story of Hua Tuo, who created Five-Animal Play. Using English picture books and videos, the teacher helps students grasp the health philosophy and cultural value of this heritage.
“我们不仅学英语,更是在用英语传递中国智慧。” 课堂上,学生尝试用“Let’s…like…”句型描述动作,用“First, then…”串联步骤,语言输出与文化表达同步实现。学生在学习语言的同时,也成为中国文化的体验者与传播者。
Students use phrases like “Let’s… like…” and “First, then…” to describe actions and sequence steps, blending language practice with cultural expression. They become both learners and ambassadors of the culture.


学生阅读英文版五禽戏故事,理解华佗创编背景
不仅如此,在项目式作业中,学生们进一步发挥创意,分组设计属于自己的“新五禽戏”。他们自主选择动物、构思动作、绘制示意图,并用英语编写解说词。从“jump like rabbits”到“walk like elephants”,孩子们想象力飞扬,在合作中融合语言、绘画、运动与创意,展现出鲜活的主体性与创造性。
In project-based assignments, students design their own “New Five-Animal Play.” Working in groups, they choose animals, create movements, draw guides, and write English commentary. From “jump like rabbits” to “walk like elephants,” their creativity shines, integrating language, art, movement, and collaboration.




本节公开课是我校“更中国,更世界”理念的课堂缩影。“更中国”,是扎根文化土壤,将五禽戏转化为生动的教育资源;“更世界”,是以英语为桥梁,培养孩子用国际语言讲述中国文化的能力。
This class reflects our school’s vision ‘Embrace China, embrace the world’. ‘Embrace China’ means grounding learning in cultural heritage, like Five-Animal Play. ‘Embrace the world’ means using English to share Chinese stories globally.
课堂上,教师引导学生思考“动物如何启发运动与舞蹈”,提及瑜伽、芭蕾、桑巴等不同文化中同样源于动物灵感的身体表达。学生在理解五禽戏独特魅力的同时,也建立起对文化多样性的初步感知,在亲切的文化认同与开放的世界视野之间,悄然架起理解的桥梁。
The teacher prompts students to consider how animals inspire movement worldwide—from yoga and ballet to samba. This helps students appreciate Five-Animal Play’s uniqueness while recognizing cultural diversity, building a bridge between cultural pride and a global outlook.

课堂启发环节:动物灵感与多元运动文化

课堂的学习并未随着铃声结束,而是自然地延伸至家庭场景。根据课后实践任务,孩子们在家中带着家人一起练习五禽戏,并录制了练习视频。镜头前,他们带着家人模仿“虎举”“鹿奔”等动作,将课堂所学的文化体验传递给家人,真正做到了学以致用、文化传家。
The learning continues at home. As a follow-up task, children guide their families through Five-Animal Play and record the session. On camera, they demonstrate “tiger lifting” or “deer running” with their parents, sharing their cultural experience and truly making the lesson part of family life.
