棋局内外，温暖定格
Before the event, ISA Tianhe alumni (now in ISASC senior years) were excited and nostalgic about returning to their old school, inspecting all the changes to the artwork and school work displayed in the corridors and finding their younger selves in photos lining the hall.
赛前，一段温暖的序曲悄然奏响。 几位从爱莎天河毕业、如今在爱莎科学城就读的学生带着欣喜与怀念重返母校。他们漫步于熟悉的走廊，细观墙上展示的艺术创作与学术成果，感受校园的变迁；更在照片墙前驻足，寻找自己昔日的模样。
The tournament commenced with an introduction speech from Mr. Elliott, the Gifted & Talented coordinator at ISA Tianhe, who welcomed the students and explained the tournament format.
随后，赛事在庄重而活泼的氛围中正式开启。 爱莎天河校区资优课程协调员 Elliott 老师以热情洋溢的开场致辞，欢迎每一位小棋手的到来，并向大家说明比赛规则。
Children excitedly moved across to the tournament room, where chess boards were set out in rows- ready for battle. Following some final instructions, children quickly began to settle into their first games of the day.
棋局即启，童心如战。 孩子们雀跃步入赛场，映入眼帘的是整齐列阵的棋盘，宛若沉默而庄严的战场。聆听完最后的提示，小棋手们迅速凝神屏息，投入第一轮比赛的思想交锋。落子声里，是专注，也是成长。
During halftime, participants enjoyed snacks and refreshments, creating a friendly atmosphere. The spirit of sportsmanship shone throughout the day, with all children shaking hands before and after their games.
中场休息则化为一片轻松愉快的社交绿洲。 孩子们享用茶点的同时，相互交流，新的友谊在方寸棋盘之外悄然萌芽。而体育精神，如同无声的契约，贯穿活动始终——每一个孩子都在赛前与赛后郑重握手致意。这简单的举动，超越胜负，诠释着尊重与竞技精神的真谛。
Tournament Structure
赛制安排
方寸之间，策略纵横
Participants were divided into three age groups: lower primary, upper primary, and senior years. The tournament featured around two hours of gameplay, where each match was limited to 7 minutes per player, with upper primary and senior students utilizing chess clocks. Each child competed against seven different opponents, showcasing their skills and strategies.
本次比赛按年龄划分为三个组别：小学低年级组、小学高年级组及中学组。赛程持续约两小时，每局对弈双方各限时7分钟，其中小学高年级组与中学组使用国际象棋专用计时钟进行计时。每位选手均需完成七轮对阵，在与不同对手的交锋中全面展现棋力与战术思维。
Prior to the event, students had prepared for months through in-school competitions organized by dedicated chess teachers: Mr. Ben from ISA Science City, Mr. Dan and Mr. Nathan from ISA Liwan, along with Mr. Elliott and Ms. Gracie from ISA Tianhe.
为迎接本届赛事，各校区学生早在数月前便已开始集训，在国际象棋专业教师的指导下积极备赛。特别感谢爱莎科学城校区的Ben老师、爱莎荔湾校区的Dan老师与Nathan老师，以及爱莎天河校区的Elliott老师和Gracie老师，他们共同组织了前期的校内选拔与针对性训练，为比赛的顺利举办打下了坚实基础。

David Pertsel, winner of the upper primary competition, thought the cup was fantastic. “There were so many people to play with, I thought it was really good. I usually play 10 + 5 games, but this was still really fun! I feel proud I could win!”
小学高年级组冠军David Pertsel在赛后分享道：“比赛组织得非常出色！能有这么多棋手一起对弈，机会非常难得。虽然我平时习惯下10+5的棋，但这次7分钟的快棋赛同样充满挑战和乐趣。能够最终夺冠，我感到特别自豪！”

Excitingly, an inter-school chess tournament is being planned for early May 2026, inviting children from schools across Guangzhou. This event aims to further promote the love of chess and provide more opportunities for competition.
更值得期待的是，一场面向广州市多所学校的校际象棋锦标赛正在筹划中，暂定于2026年5月初举行。校际象棋锦标赛进一步推广国际象棋文化，为孩子们搭建更广阔的交流与竞技平台。
Learning chess not only enhances strategic thinking and problem-solving skills but also fosters patience and resilience among students. We encourage all students to join our chess clubs and prepare for the next tournament, as the skills learned in chess can benefit them in many areas of life.
学习国际象棋不仅能够锻炼策略思维与解决问题的能力，更有助于培养耐心与坚韧的品格。我们鼓励所有学生积极参与棋类社团，为迎接未来的赛事做好准备——棋盘上学到的智慧，也将在人生的更多领域中闪耀光芒。
The inaugural ISA Chess Cup was more than just a competition; it was a celebration of perseverance, teamwork, and the joy of chess. We look forward to many more successful tournaments in the future!
