HAPPY NEW YEAR⬇️
As the Chinese New Year approached, our Chinese teaching team hosted a series of Year of the Horse New Year workshops in class, giving children a hands-on way to experience the festive spirit. Let’s take a look at the teachers’ highlights!

As golden ink slowly seeped into red paper, as colored paper weaved into knots between fingers, and as the jianhao brush flowed freely across rice paper, a cultural journey from hand to heart began warmly at our school. This Lunar New Year, we designed hands-on workshops blending traditional wisdom with contemporary creativity, inviting teachers and students to welcome the arrival of the Year of the Horse through making.
The venue was filled with focused joy. In the rubbing area, younger students gently pressed golden ink onto "福" (fortune) characters and horse motifs—each impression a quiet conversation with ancient printing art. In the fortune character writing zone, the gentle fragrance of ink lingered as children, with focused expressions, wrote New Year blessings on specially prepared red paper, each stroke revealing the beauty of Chinese characters. In the paper weaving art zone, red and yellow paper gradually turned into auspicious Chinese knots in nimble hands, each weave carrying the warmth of reunion.
In the calligraphy area, older students held their breath as they brushed "马到成功" (immediate success) onto red paper scrolls. In the paper-cutting div, scissors danced in hands, giving new life to traditional patterns on red paper. Specially prepared rice paper absorbed the charm of ink; professional tools embodied care—each piece spoke quietly of cultural warmth.
Now walking through campus, hand-rubbed and handwritten fortune characters adorn every corner, colorful paper-woven Chinese knots decorate the hallways, ink-scented couplets guard classroom doors, and delicate window flowers brighten every pane. These scenes created by the children not only decorate our space, but also let culture travel from fingertips to heart. When tradition is no longer just words on a page, but becomes something touchable, creatable, and shareable—a true cultural dialogue takes root, quietly growing here in our international school.
