With great warmth and excitement, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Mark Thomas, a distinguished educational leader with 30 years of experience, who will join the ISA Liwan community as Head of ISA Liwan International School on 1 August 2026.

Mark’s educational journey is rooted in a passion for creativity and aesthetic excellence, having graduated from Lancaster University with a Bachelor of Education in Art and Design. Over a distinguished 30-year career—evolving from an inspired classroom teacher to a seasoned leader holding the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH)—he has remained steadfast in his commitment to holistic excellence. For the past 24 years, he has built a stellar reputation within the international education sector, recognised for his visionary leadership and his ability to foster sustained institutional development.

In 2004，
he began his China journey as the Founding Head of Primary at the British School of Beijing.

he moved to Guangzhou to lead the British School of Guangzhou. During his transformative 14-year tenure, he played a pivotal role in overseeing the school's exponential growth from 175 to 1,500 students and successfully leading the expansion of four new campuses.

Since 2022, Mark has served as the Head of the European Office for ISA International Education Group, acting as a strategic bridge to recruit and integrate world-class academic talent into our schools. Now, he brings that wealth of global expertise and his deep alignment with the ISA ethos back to Guangzhou.
