从中国到加拿大,华外中学13位少年一场跨越山海的成长课 Micro-overseas Study

作为教育部中外人文交流特色建设学校及广州市首批教育国际化窗口学校,华外始终彰显“更中国 更世界”的办学特色。2026年,学校与加拿大列治文教育局达成合作,共同打造“华外·列治文微留学项目”。

经过三个月的前期筹备,中学七、八年级首批共13名学生于4月5日启程远赴加拿大,开启为期四周的沉浸式学习交流活动。学生们入住当地家庭,走进三所公立学校的全真课堂,与加拿大同龄学生同作息、同上课、同生活,在异国他乡留下了一段关于勇气、独立与远方的成长记录。

Thirteen HW students studied abroad in Canada, living with local families and attending real classes at three public schools — writing a chapter of growth about courage, independence, and the world beyond.

对于华外的孩子们而言,北美课堂的学习形式并不陌生。正是学校一贯倡导的探究式学习与全人教育理念,让他们在面对北美课堂的开放模式时,不是被动适应,而是从容接轨。他们带去的,是扎实的学术素养与敢于表达的底蕴;带回来的,是对国际化学习方式更深的体悟与认同。

The North American classroom style felt familiar to the HW students. Rooted in their own school's inquiry-based and holistic education, they adapted to the open learning environment with ease.

在微留学的课堂上,华外学子也是课堂的主角。小组讨论、自主发言、课题协作与成果展示,成了日常的节奏。最让孩子们津津乐道的是特色选修课。烘焙教室里,他们从食材搭配学起,亲手做出第一枚西式点心;缝纫手工课上,从穿线到操作缝纫机,一针一线中释放创意。这些课程背后,折射出教育一个朴素的道理:知识的获取,离不开书本的沉淀;能力的成长,同样可以在双手之间生根发芽。

In the micro-study abroad classrooms, HW students took the lead. Group discussions, presentations, and project collaboration were daily routines. The electives were a hit: baking class taught them to make pastries; sewing class had them creating fabric crafts. These lessons showed that knowledge comes from books, but skills grow through hands-on work.

白天沉浸式学习,晚间也未曾松懈。孩子们会利用课余时间与校内老师视频连线,跟进国内学习任务,做到研学与学业两不误。

They studied hard during the day and kept up with schoolwork at night, video-calling teachers back home — balancing both without falling behind.

初抵加拿大,时差、思乡、饮食差异,像一道道看不见的坎,心里难免泛起酸涩。变化就发生在须臾间,没有人刻意催促,孩子们慢慢调整好作息,习惯西式餐点或自己做中餐,习惯与寄宿家庭全英沟通,甚至给他们分享中国文化,跟上异国节奏。拘谨到从容的转变,不是瞬间完成的,却在每一天里悄然生长。

Jet lag, homesickness, and unfamiliar food felt like invisible hurdles. But change came quickly. Without anyone pushing, the children adjusted their routines, ate Western food or cooked Chinese meals, spoke English with host families, and even shared Chinese culture — slowly finding their rhythm abroad.

令人欣慰的是,所有寄宿家庭都给出了正面反馈——因为这群孩子,他们愿意继续欢迎中国留学生到家里住。这样的评价来之不易,意味着孩子们不只学会了独立生活,更在用真诚、礼貌与自律赢得尊重与善意。

All host families gave positive feedback — they'd welcome more Chinese students because of these kids. That praise is hard-earned. The children not only grew independent but earned respect and kindness through sincerity, manners, and self-discipline.

这份跨越文化与舒适圈的独立生活体验,比任何说教都来得深刻。自我管理、跨文化交流与换位思考,不是从书本上读来的,而是在一次次主动开口、理解差异、解决问题中,一点点长出来的。这些,才是他们未来走向更广阔世界时最踏实的底气。

This cross-cultural, comfort-zone-free experience taught more than any lecture. Self-management, cross-cultural skills, and empathy weren’t learned from books — they grew through speaking up, understanding differences, and solving problems. That’s the solid foundation for stepping into the wider world.

研学的意义,不止于校内。走出校园,城市与名校本身就是立体的教材。在列治文渔人码头,海风、渔船与悠闲的当地人,让少年们读懂了这座滨海城市的生活哲学。在格兰维尔岛的艺术工坊与创意市集间穿梭,以小组为单位的城市寻宝打卡挑战,更让他们在欢笑与协作中,将英文沟通变成了闯关的武器。通过PBL探究,他们真切体会到:语言不是试卷上的分数,而是探索世界的钥匙。

The study tour went beyond the classroom. The city and universities became living textbooks. At Steveston Wharf, students felt the rhythm of coastal life. On Granville Island, a scavenger hunt turned English into a problem-solving tool. Through project-based learning, they saw language as the key to the world, not just a test score.

当脚步迈进UBC不列颠哥伦比亚大学,一切又变得不同。穿过古老的教学楼,站在图书馆窗前,浓厚的学术气息扑面而来。同学们通过打卡校园地标、完成与在校生互动等定向挑战,在探索中深入了解这所世界名校。名校研学的意义,正在于此——不是贴金,而是点燃。在少年心里,无声地埋下一颗关于理想学府的种子。

Inside UBC, everything felt different. Walking through historic buildings, they felt the academic atmosphere. By exploring campus landmarks and interacting with students, they got to know this world-class university. The value of a university tour is not to impress, but to inspire — quietly planting a seed of aspiration in young hearts.

回到华外的校园,他们没有让这段经历止步于回忆。复盘分享会上,每个孩子都走上讲台,将异国见闻、课堂感悟与成长故事,讲给班里的同学和老师听。分享,是最好的沉淀;把世界带回来,也是成长中重要的一环。

Back at HW, each student stepped onto the stage at a reflection session, sharing their experiences, classroom insights, and growth stories with their classmates and teachers.

一个月的时间,足够一个人发生安静而深刻的改变。回程的行囊里,装着的已不再是离家时的紧张与羞涩,而是敢于开口的自信、换位思考的同理心、面对未知的从容,以及一个更清晰的自我。

A month brought quiet but deep change. On the way home, they no longer carried the anxiety and shyness of departure — but the confidence to speak up, empathy for others, calm in the face of the unknown, and a clearer sense of who they were.

临别之际,华外带队老师王子彤代表学校向三所学校的校长赠送礼物,一份跨越国界的教育情谊在枫叶之国悄然生根。这不仅是学校走出国门的友好见证,更为少年们的研学之旅添上了一抹温暖的注脚。

Before leaving, HW lead teacher Wang presented gifts to the three school principals on behalf of the school. A cross-border educational friendship quietly took root in Canada. It was a testament to the school's international outreach and a warm touch to the students' study tour.

教育不是把篮子装满,而是把灯点亮。年少时的微留学之旅是一场关于勇气与成长的蜕变。而我们相信,这些带着温度的记忆,终将化为华外学子成长途中那束持久而温暖的光。

A short study abroad in youth is a journey of courage and growth. We believe these warm memories will become the lasting, gentle light that guides HW students as they grow.
