From Guest-Starring 'Rocket Dog' to a 1% Cost Relay Triumph:

How ISA Liwan Redefines Future Tech Innovation on the Global Stage

In May, Guangzhou witnessed the vibrant blossoming of passion for technological innovation alongside the brilliant sparks of Sino-foreign cultural exchange. In the recently concluded 7th "Sino-Foreign Cultural Exchange Little Ambassadors" Artificial Intelligence and Quadruped Robot International Exchange and Exhibition, which ran concurrently with the 9th "I am an Ambassador for Guangzhou Foreign Exchange" event, the representative team from ISA Wenhua School Liwan delivered a stellar performance, standing out as a highlight of the competition.

This achievement was far more than a mere showcase of excellent results; it was a vivid, hands-on demonstration of science and technology education that seamlessly integrates holistic education, interdisciplinary inquiry, and international understanding.

Openness and Collaboration: A Community-Based Educational Ecosystem Breaking School Barriers

True international education focuses not only on individual excellence but also emphasises community connection and collaborative development. Serving as the preparation base for Liwan District, ISA Wenhua School Liwan threw open its doors from 16th to 17th May, welcoming nearly a hundred students, teachers, and parents from various teams, including Guangzhou No. 1 High School, Guangdong Experimental High School, and the Liwan District Children's Palace, for intensive joint training.

Within this collaborative platform, the school meticulously planned and scientifically organised the training sessions. Working in close partnership with Guangzhou No. 1 High School, we co-founded the "Liwan Relay Race Joint Team".

During the training camp, more than 60 external students, parents, and leading teachers visited ISA Liwan. Amidst their rigorous training schedules, they toured our state-of-the-art campus, gaining deep insights into our unique international educational culture and schooling philosophy.

Through this cross-school collaboration, the school has not only facilitated the sharing of premium educational resources but has also nurtured an inclusive, open-minded, and collaborative international outlook within our students.

Creative Thinking and Autonomous Inquiry: Future Expressions from K-12 Students

From 22nd to 24th May, led by the team from the ISA Liwan Science and Technological Innovation Centre, 20 of our students travelled to the main venue. The contestants spanned primary, middle, and high school divs, presenting a comprehensive line-up that fully demonstrated the school's systematic, vertically integrated approach to tech education across all key stages. At the opening ceremony, our school had the honour of carrying the signboard for Liwan District. The flag-bearer marched proudly across the centre of the stage, waving the ISA Liwan flag with high spirits, which drew enthusiastic applause from the audience.

In a groundbreaking highlight, a bespoke, creative 'Rocket Dog'—designed independently by our students under the guidance of the Science and Technological Innovation Centre—made a sparkling appearance as a specially invited robotic guest for the opening ceremony. Blending aerospace elements with quadruped robotics technology, this 'Rocket Dog' instantly ignited the enthusiasm of the entire venue. It stood as ultimate proof of our students' ability to transform imaginative, interdisciplinary ideas into real-world innovations.

Tech for Good and Bilingual Academic Expression: Communication Skills Connecting the Globe

In the AI Application Exhibition Zone, our school presented four original student pieces, all closely revolving around the theme of "AI + Life". Ranging from smart home assistants to practical campus gadgets, every single piece reflected the students' profound reflections on technology and humanity, echoing the core ethos of "Tech for Good" in international education.

In front of a diverse international delegation of observers, ISA students demonstrated poised academic expression and robust cultural confidence. The students were not only adept at explaining their design concepts fluently in Chinese but also utilised fluent English to provide detailed commentaries and answers for international observers from various countries.

This outstanding bilingual academic communication capability led a foreign judge to praise them from the bottom of their heart:

"These young designers are the future!"

Resilience in Adversity and Human-Machine Collaboration: Problem-Solving Capabilities in Complex Scenarios

In the fiercely contested Speed Obstacle Race, facing complex tracks and multifaceted challenges, managing uncertainty became the ultimate test of students' psychological resilience and problem-solving skills. In this high-intensity competition, our three school teams performed exceptionally well, with students remaining remarkably calm and composed.

Relying on their solid technical foundations and a high degree of team synergy, the team members operated their robots with fluid precision, executing human-machine collaboration flawlessly. They repeatedly broke the competition's time records, with each breakthrough eliciting cheers and applause from the grandstands. This spirit of maintaining intense focus under pressure and continuously seeking self-transcendence exemplifies the critical thinking and resilience indispensable to future leaders.

Engineering Mindset and Sustainable Design: Maximum Efficiency with Minimal Resources

In the Liwan 4×100m Joint Team Relay Race, our students once again demonstrated breathtaking engineering mindsets and hands-on capabilities.

When tackling the challenge of a "robot relay", most teams opted for expensive robotic arm solutions. However, our students decided to take the road less travelled. Through autonomous inquiry, they developed a completely original relay apparatus.

  • Extreme Efficiency: This original mechanism achieved a flawless, seamless handover in just three seconds.

  • Cost Control: The development cost was less than 1% of the conventional robotic arm alternatives.

Compared to the occasional lagging, delays, or drops experienced by other teams, the relay device designed by our school was faster and more stable. Every handover was executed with fluid grace, saving invaluable seconds for the joint team on the track. This design not only won high praise from the judges and competing teams but also perfectly embodied high-order engineering design intelligence and cost-efficiency—achieving maximum performance with minimal resources.

Wings of Tech Innovation, Bridges of Cultural Exchange

From proactive preparation and opening our gates for joint training, to the stunning debut of 'Rocket Dog', the confident bilingual presentations of AI projects, continuous breakthroughs in the speed obstacle race, and finally, the ultra-low cost and maximum efficiency of the original relay device—the students of ISA Wenhua School Liwan have demonstrated through actions what it truly means to integrate "scientific literacy" with an "international perspective".

Looking ahead, ISA Liwan will continue to use technological innovation as its wings and cultural exchange as its bridge, empowering more students to shine brightly on an even grander global stage.
