Teacher of Drama

Slide Preview Up

Last week, our secondary students took us on a magical journey with their adaptation of the classic Chinese folk tale, The Eight Immortals Across the Sea. From writing the script to designing the set and props, and finally performing on stage, these talented students did it all—and they absolutely shone.

The show was a great success, earning well-deserved applause from students and parents alike, who loved every moment of the creative storytelling.

A huge thank you to the PSG for their wonderful support behind the scenes, and to everyone who came along to cheer on our performers.

Congratulations to the entire cast and crew!

Early Years: Exploring the Important People

BY Ms. Shauna McCutcheon,

Nursery Class Teacher and Associate Lead

Over the past weeks, our Nursery children have been enthusiastically exploring the important people and roles within our communities. Through a rich cross-curricular approach, the children have been learning about doctors, nurses, teachers, firefighters, police officers, pilots and chefs, while also discussing their own interests and aspirations for the future.

This exciting topic has been brought to life through songs, discussions, fine motor activities, crafting and mathematical learning, including counting down the “sleeps” until a very special visit from our local fire station. This week, the children were thrilled to meet the firefighters, explore the fire truck and learn about its different parts, including the hose and ladder. Having previously learnt about fire trucks in the classroom, the visit provided a valuable real-life opportunity for children to deepen their understanding through hands-on exploration and meaningful conversations with the firefighters themselves.

Variety, Learning and Success at the Year 4 Science Fair!

BY Mr. Ross Kay-Hards,

Year 4 Class Teacher

Scientists, engineers, chemists, operators and many more professions were represented during Year 4’s science fair activities. While primary students have been working exceptionally hard on their investigations, Year 4 took a unique approach, focusing mostly on the practices of Ancient Egyptians. From food preservation through mummification, to testing boats inspired by Nile barges, reconstructing pyramids, and exploring farming techniques, students combined history with science in creative ways. They also used drones and paper planes to investigate drag, linking to the falcon messenger. Most importantly, students were given the opportunity to follow their curiosity and investigate questions that mattered to them. This led to an even wider range of projects, including electromagnetism from our electricity unit and reaction time between a piano and pianist. Overall, a wide variety of investigations took place, resulting in deeper and more meaningful learning.

Year 6 Transition to Year 7

BY Mr. Darren Amena,

Year 6 Class Teacher and Year Lead

Preparing our Year 6 students for the move to secondary school is an important part of the final term, and we have been incredibly fortunate to benefit from the wonderful relationship we have with our secondary colleagues. This strong partnership has allowed our students to begin experiencing life in Year 7 well before the end of the academic year, helping to build excitement, confidence, and familiarity with their next big step.

So far, the students have already taken part in transition lessons in Maths, English, and several Computing sessions in the secondary setting. These experiences have given them a valuable insight into what lessons in Year 7 will feel like, from working in specialist classrooms to meeting teachers from different departments and adapting to slightly different routines and expectations. The children have embraced these opportunities with enthusiasm, showing curiosity, resilience, and a real sense of maturity as they step into a new environment.

Last week, the transition experience continued with a guided tour of the secondary school, where students had the chance to explore key areas of the campus, meet some of the teachers they will be learning with next year, and gather important information about school life. To add a fun and competitive element, they will be putting their knowledge to the test in an upcoming house competition quiz. It has been wonderful to see the excitement building as our students begin to picture themselves as Year 7 learners, and we are confident that these experiences are helping to make the transition feel both positive and familiar.
