At ISASC, our students in EY3 have just completed a beautiful and insightful journey through their first Unit of Inquiry! Under the transdisciplinary theme "Who We Are", our explorers inquired into the central idea: “People learn about themselves through their community.”
最近,爱莎科学城EY3 的孩子们刚刚完成了他们本学年第一段温暖又充满思考的探究学习旅程!在跨学科探究单元 “我们是谁” 下,小小探险家们围绕核心概念 “人们通过与社区的互动认识自我” 展开探究。



Our learning unfolded through four dynamic stages of the inquiry cycle:
孩子们的学习在探究循环的四个阶段中自然展开,每一步都充满了发现与行动。

Tuning In 唤起兴趣
We began with rich, collaborative discussions about what a "community" really means. The children worked together to create a web, illustrating the communities they belong to, from their families and our school to their sports CCAs and neighbourhoods.
This activity powerfully supported their Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED) as they recognised their place in a larger group.
我们从一次次生动、充满合作的讨论开始,带着孩子们一起思考:什么才是“社区”?在交流中,孩子们共同绘制了一张“社区之网”,把自己所属的各种社区呈现出来——从家庭与学校,到兴趣社团和生活的社区圈。
这项活动不仅帮助他们更清晰地理解“我属于哪里”,也有力促进了他们的个人、社会与情感发展(PSED),让孩子们在与他人的连接中认识自己在更大集体中的位置。

The classroom transformed into a mini-city! Using blocks, magnetic tiles, Lego and figurines, the students constructed detailed models of their home and school communities.
This imaginative, hands-on play is a cornerstone of both the EYFS and the PYP, strengthening Understanding the World as they mapped out the spaces and people important to them.
教室一下子变成了一座迷你小城!孩子们用积木、磁力片、乐高和小人偶,搭建出属于自己的“家”和“学校”社区模型。随着一座座小建筑和熟悉的场景出现,孩子们在动手与想象中表达着对周围世界的理解。
这种富有创造力的游戏式学习,是早期发展和进入小学项目的重要基础。孩子们在构建与重现过程中,更深入地认识生活空间,也更清楚自己与社区中每一个人的连接。

Reflection is key to learning. The children collaboratively created a T-chart to identify their own responsibilities at home and at school.
By drawing and discussing their roles, they made powerful connections between their actions and the well-being of their communities, fostering a growing sense of agency and citizenship.
反思是学习中不可或缺的一环。孩子们一起制作了责任对照表,用图画和讨论区分自己在家里与在学校的不同角色。在这个过程中,他们逐渐意识到:自己的每一个选择,都会影响社区的和谐与幸福。
这样的探讨帮助孩子们建立起日益增强的责任感与行动力,也让他们在理解“我能为我的社区做什么”中,迈向更主动、更有担当的小小公民。

True learning inspires action. To conclude the unit, our EY3 students thoughtfully created thank you cards for members of their communities, from our wonderful staff members to their loving family members.
This act of gratitude was a meaningful way for them to demonstrate their appreciation for the roles others play.
真正的学习会化成行动。作为本单元的收束,EY3 的孩子们用心制作了感谢卡,送给社区中支持他们的人:从校园里辛勤付出的教职员工,到一直陪伴他们的家人,都是他们感谢的对象。
在这份温暖的表达中,孩子们以最真挚的方式,感谢身边每一位为他们的成长付出力量的人,也用行动展现了他们对“社区”与“关爱”的理解。

To make the end of this special unit, we invited our EY3 parents for a heartwarming Learning Celebration. The classroom was buzzing with excitement as the children actively show their growth!
在单元的尾声,我们邀请了 EY3 的家长们,一起走进孩子们的小小世界,参与这场充满欢笑与惊喜的学习庆典。教室里热闹非凡,孩子们兴奋地展示着自己的成长与发现!

Really, what could be a warmer start than greeting our families with a joyful Hello Song and our beloved Community Song?
还有什么比一首欢快的问候歌,再接上一首温馨的社区颂,更能迎接大家的到来呢?




Becoming confident tour guides, our children led their parents on a gallery walk to explain the models they had built, describing the structures, the people within them, and their roles.
变身自信的小小讲解员,孩子带领家长漫步“作品画廊”,讲述自己搭建的社区模型,分享建筑、人物以及每个人的角色。






Parents didn’t just watch,
they jumped right in!
Together with their children, they collaborated in a creative clay-modelling activity, shaping members of their communities out of air-dry clay, turning their learning into something beautifully tangible.
父母也加入了孩子的创意世界~
与家长携手参与创意黏土活动,用轻黏土塑造社区里的“成员”,把所学变成可以触摸、可以感受的小小艺术品!







The celebration was a perfect culmination of the unit, showcasing the children's confidence, communication skills, and the deep conceptual understanding they have developed.
这场庆典不仅是单元的完美收官,也让孩子们的自信、表达力和对社区概念的理解,鲜活地呈现在每一位家长眼前,成为一段温暖又难忘的记忆。



This unit demonstrates how at ISA Science City, we nurture curious, caring, and principled learners from the very start. By connecting the PYP framework with the developmental milestones outlined in EYFS and Birth to Five Matters, we ensure our students are not only academically prepared but also growing into thoughtful, engaged members of their communities.
这个单元生动展现了爱莎科学城从孩子启蒙阶段,就致力于培养好奇、关爱且有原则的学习者的理念。通过将 PYP 框架与 EYFS 及 0–5岁儿童发展指导中的成长里程碑紧密结合,我们不仅为孩子们打下坚实的学术基础,更引导他们在日常生活与社区互动中,逐步成长为有思考力、责任感与参与意识的小公民。这段探究之旅也为他们未来的学习与生活,画下了一个充满温度与希望的起点!
