Summer School

Our summer school has reached its conclusion. During this brief yet fulfilling time, the children have learned, explored, and grown together. They have delved deeply into the ocean of knowledge, truly experiencing the joy and charm of learning. The children have not only gained knowledge, but also cherished friendships and valuable growth experiences. They have learned how to collaborate with others, how to think independently, and how to bravely face challenges.

随着夏日的余晖渐渐落下,我们的暑期班也迎来了尾声。在这短暂而充实的时光里,孩子们一同学习、探索、成长。他们在知识的海洋中畅游,深切地感受到了学习的乐趣与魅力。更重要的是,孩子们不仅学到了知识,更收获了珍贵的友谊和成长的经验。他们学会了如何与人合作、如何独立思考、如何勇敢地面对挑战。

Class 1 Review 回顾

Welcome to the Class 1 bakery! This week, our young learners in Class 1 transformed our classroom into a charming bakery. Through engaging sensory activities, captivating visual presentations, and delightful bakery props, we fully immersed ourselves in the bakery atmosphere. The creation of a bakery sensory table allowed the children to explore various baked goods and tools commonly found in a bakery through hands-on play. Sporting our baker hats, we got creative by crafting our own cupcakes using a piping bag to decorate them with "frosting" and toppings. To top it off, we whipped up some birthday cake "play dough" to mold cupcakes and cakes using an assortment of molds. By incorporating elements like birthday candles, spoons, and cupcake molds, we aimed to enrich the children's play experience. The teaching team is excited about inspiring Class 1 children and their parents to bake together at home.

Class 2 Review 回顾

In week four of Summer School, students in class 2 investigated the theme of sharing. We looked closely at the story ‘The Selfish Crocodile’ and saw how the main character learned to share the river with the other animals. In literacy, we looked at five stories from the Oxford Reading Tree and practiced reading and writing keywords and sentences. For our music classes, we practiced singing the songs: ‘Everything Grows’, ‘Puff the Magic Dragon’, ‘Creepy Crawlies’ and ‘The Selfish Crocodile Song’. In Art, the children made some bold and colorful crocodile pictures and decorated them with pencils and paints.

在暑期班的第四周,Class 2的探究主题是“分享”。通过阅读学习了故事《自私的鳄鱼》,了解到了主人公是如何学会与其他动物分享河流的。在识字课上,我们阅读了来自牛津阅读书中的五个故事,并练习阅读和书写单词和句子。音乐课上,我们练习演唱了《万物生长》、《吹牛魔龙》、《爬行动物》和《自私的鳄鱼之歌》。在美术课上,孩子们用铅笔和颜料创作了大胆而多彩的鳄鱼绘画,并对它们进行了装饰。

Class 3 Review 回顾

During this final week of summer school Class 3 have been investigating how to be healthy. Through stories, songs and exploring different areas of wellbeing we have tried to prepare ourselves to be healthy for our long summer and long life. 

在暑期班的最后一周,Class 3的学生们探究了我们如何保持健康。通过故事、歌曲来探索不同的健康领域,努力为即将到来的悠长的暑假和长远的人生做好健康准备。


In literacy we read health stories, phonetics with food, and wrote about being healthy. Whilst in maths we have applied this to shapes and patterns. 

在识字课上,我们阅读了关于健康的故事,学习了与食物相关的词汇发音,并写下了关于健康的单词。在数学课上,我们将这些知识应用到了形状和模式上。


A healthy lifestyle is full of different areas for our creative abilities to explore in art and performance. Healthy food, exercise, sleep and a positive mindset are all important elements to how we grow up, and moving forwards these routines will help our learning journey

健康的生活方式为我们提供了众多领域来探索自身的创造力,无论是在艺术还是表演中。健康的食物、定期的运动、充足的睡眠和积极的心态,这些都是我们成长过程中不可或缺的要素,它们将继续在我们的学习旅程中起到至关重要的作用。

Class 4 Review 回顾

This week, Class 4 students explored the beloved children's book "Pete the Cat and His Groovy Buttons." Through exploring the book's characters, setting and plot, they created their own versions of the story, incorporating their own unique ideas and perspectives. Students loved making their very own books, complete with colour illustrations!

本周,Class 4的学生探索了著名的儿童读物《皮特猫和他的小纽扣》。通过探索书中的人物、环境、故事情节,学生们结合自己独特的想法和视角,创作了属于自己版本的新故事。学生们非常喜欢创作书籍,并为故事配有彩色插图!


Integrating a theme from the book, students also looked at addition and subtraction skills such as counting up, doubling and number bonds. We played board games and completed worksheets to reinforce learning.

结合书中的主题,学生们进行跨学科学习了加减法技巧,如倒数、加倍、数环。我们还玩了棋盘游戏并完成了练习题,以巩固所学知识。


Students culminated learning by retelling the "Pete the Cat" story through song and dance. In the process, children developed their ability to cooperate with others and take responsibility for their part of the performance.

Week 4 Newsletter: Exploring the Animal Habitat Class 5

Week 4 of our summer school program was an exciting journey into the fascinating world of animals and their various habitats. This theme provided a rich context for learning across multiple subjects, offering our students a holistic and engaging educational experience.

暑期班的第四周我们迎来了一次激动人心的旅程,我们走进动物及其各种栖息地的迷人世界。为跨学科学习提供了丰富的背景,为我们的学生提供了全面且引人入胜的教育体验。


In our English classes, students engaged with a variety of PowerPoint presentations that introduced them to different animals and their habitats. They matched animals to their respective environments and created vocabulary booklets to use throughout the week. This activity enriched their vocabulary and aided in constructing detailed and accurate sentences, enhancing their descriptive writing skills, as well as a betterunderstanding of how animals have adapted to their environment.

Math lessons were infused with an animal theme, making learning both fun and relevant. Students tackled addition and subtraction word problems centered around animals. They also explored 3D shapes by creating foldable templates and identifying which animal body parts these shapes could represent. This hands-on approach helped solidify their understanding of geometric concepts while sparking their creativity.

Our unit of inquiry focused on the story of Chicken Little and the importance of being in the right habitat. Students created masks and practiced role-playing the story, learning about the consequences of not being in a suitable environment. This activity fostered collaborative skills as students worked together to bring the tale to life, understanding the narrative and its underlying lessons.

Week 4 of our summer school program was nothing short of extraordinary as we delved into the exciting theme of superheroes. This theme was creatively integrated into various subjects, providing a multifaceted learning experience for our students.

English: Crafting Our Superheroes

In our English classes, students embarked on the imaginative journey of describing their own superheroes. They learned about similes and metaphors, enhancing their ability to create vivid imagery in their writing. By the end of the week, each student had crafted unique and compelling superhero characters, complete with detailed descriptions and creative powers.

在英语课上,学生们学着描述自己对超级英雄的想象。他们学习了比喻和隐喻的写作手法,提高了在写作中创造生动形象的能力。一周结束时,每个学生都创作出了独一无二、引人入胜的超级英雄角色,并配有详细的描述和创造性的力量。

Math lessons took on a heroic twist as students explored shapes and applied their knowledge to design their own superhero logos. They extended this creativity by creating superhero characters in action, all within geometric shapes. Additionally, we introduced the basics of graphing and statistics. Students collected data from a given story, interpreted it on graphs, and answered related questions, developing their analytical skills in a fun and engaging way.

They proudly wore the masks and logos they had created, singing the song that highlighted their journey of learning and creativity. The performance was a fantastic display of their artistic talents and the knowledge they had gained, leaving everyone in awe of their accomplishments.

This week was a powerful reminder of the potential within each of our students. They not only learned academic skills but also embraced the values of teamwork and creativity, embodying the true spirit of superheroes.
